《MC's Viking Warriors- Rogue #5》Katie

A power nap and a mild overdoes on paracetamol later and I'm still feeling really poorly. My father still hasn't come home, even though I've been calling and exiting him non stop. I want us to do what we always do when I feel ill, curl up and eat junk food whilst watching tv.

Sighing and groaning, I throw back the covers, shivering. After layering up as many fluffy socks as I own, I wrap myself into a blanket and stumble outside of my room.

"Dad?" I call, whining and coughing, "Dad?"

Once I'm certain that my father is not in the house, I slip my feet into some shoes and open the front door.

I know my father made me swear to never enter the pack house, but that's where his office is and right now I need my dad.

The bar is packed with people as soon as I open the door the stench of alcohol slams into me, making me wrinkle my nose.

At the blaring noise, I wince and shut the door again. There must be a back entrance to this place, I stumble in the dusky light and finally find another door.

I test it and find it unlocked, I scramble through the door. I can still hear the thumping of the bar so I move away from the sound and head towards the back of the house. I'm guessing that my father's office will be as far from the bar room as possible.

After two flights of stairs I'm coughing and miserable. All I want is my dad, why is this so hard?

When I reach this top floor, it's eerily silent and all the doors are shut. A few of the lights are on so, by process of elimination, my dad must be in one of these.

As soon as my hand touches the cold

metal handle of the first door a voice in the shadows makes me jump.

"I wouldn't do that if I were you, Katie."

I turn guiltily and find Rogue leaning against the wall, watching me with amusement.

"I want my dad." I whine and pout, moving nearer to him and wrapping my blanket closer around my shoulders.

"Well," he takes a step towards me, making me back away until my back hits the wall, "the only thing you'll find in there is an end to your innocence."

He leans over me, his arm above the top of my head. My breath hitches as his free hand lightly strokes my cheek, which is flushed with fever and Rogue's hotness.

"And that would be a terrible shame."

"I'm not that innocent." I mumble, looking up at him in and watching as mirth tickles at his jaw.

"Sure you're not, Katie."

Rogue swiftly pulls back and stands back in his spot in the shadows, as far away from me as it is possible to stand.

"Do you know where my dad is?"

"No... no. I don't know where your father is."

"Liar." I jut my chin out stubbornly, I can tell by the way his eyes dart about that he's not telling me the truth.

"Fine," he holds his hands up at me, shaking his head in amusement, "I know where your father is, but are definitely not allowed there."

"But, but," I blink hard as I try to fight the tears pooling in my eyes. I really don't feel very well and all I want is my dad, why can't I see him?

"Look Katie, your father will kill me if he finds out you were here, so come on, I'll take you back home."

Sighing, I nod my head defeatedly and wipe at the corners of my eyes where the tears have already escaped.

Rogue holds his arm out for me and I listen to what he's silently telling me. I step back towards the stairs, smiling shyly to myself when I feel his hand resting at the small of my back.

We walk in silence back through the compound, Rogue always keeps a step behind me, I'm guessing that it's to do with my dad.

Once we reach the porch, Rogue's hand falls from my back and I find my face falling. Sure I feel lousy, but it felt nice having that warmth there.

"Alright Katie," he sighs and runs a hand through his hair, "I'll tell your dad to come home for you. If I were you, I'd go back to bed."

"Do I really look that bad?" I mumble.

Great, now my face is flushed with embarrassment. My first ever crush, and he's seen me like a drowned rat and now as a disgusting snot fountain.

"You could never look bad, Katie." He chuckles nervously and runs a hand through his hair again.

"Well thanks," I attempt a sweet smile and stand on my tiptoes to press a little kiss to his cheek before I scurry back into the house.

When I peak out of the nearest window, I see Rogue still standing on the porch, a dumbstruck expression on his face.

Slowly he reaches up and brushes his fingertips to the place where my lips touched and I watch as a small smile appears on his lips.

Then he's gone and immediately feel disappointment setting in. Groaning, I stomp back up stairs and flop down on my bed again.

Not only have I got a cold, I've got a crush on one of my father's bikers. If he ever finds out, he will definitely kill Rogue, and probably me after.
