《Billionaire Boss》Chapter 26

I was finally released from the hospital after a very long week. Mason thought that maybe we should stay in the hotel for a few days, but I wanted to go home.
I slept through most of the plane ride due to the pain meds Dr. Pierce gave me and didn't wake up until right before we landed.
"Ready to go home?" Mason asked me and I took his hand.
"So ready."
Mason and I laughed, which hurt my ribs a little, and got off the plane. A limousine was waiting to take us home and I gladly got in.
The minute we stepped inside the house, I felt 100% better. I was finally home. And all of this was over.
"Mason."
"Yeah?"
"We have to plan our trip."
"What trip?"
"To Disney World!"
Evidently, Mason had forgotten the promise he made to Kat, but I didn't. I called her up immediately and we started planning our trip. Mason said we could do and get whatever we wanted since he was paying. I didn't want to spend too much though, so I stayed within a reasonable price range.
We were going next month, right after my birthday and we were staying for a week. Mason even hooked us up to stay in Cinderella's castle even though they didn't usually do that. Kat and I were so excited. Danny was too. Mason was excited that we were excited, but he wasn't as big of a Disney fan as the rest of us. That's ok though, we can fix that issue.

Today is Daphne's birthday and I'm going all out. I started with breakfast in bed which Daphne loved and I'm about to take her to see her big gift. I got others of course, but this one was the big one. Well, one of the big ones. I knew she would love it.
"I don't know who's more excited for this, me or you," Daphne joked as we got in the car.
I made Daphne wear a blindfold during the drive so the surprise wouldn't be given away. She had protested of course, but eventually gave in.

"Are we almost there?" she asked.
"Yes," I answered her. She'd asked this question every two minutes for the whole drive.
"Can I take my blindfold off?"
"No."
Daphne groaned and I chuckled. She was so cute when she was frustrated.
"But it's my birthday," she pouted.
"I know. And in a few minutes you can take it off."
I parked at the bottom of the familiar gravel driveway and helped Daphne out of the car. I was worried the smell would give away our location, but she didn't say anything, so I guess it didn't.
"Ok. Three, two, one."
I took off Daphne's blindfold and she gasped. Standing in front of her were Prince and Gracie. I had bought them from Steve for Daphne and he even offered for us to have her birthday party here.
"Happy birthday!" Kat, Danny, Steve, mom, and dad shouted.
Daphne had her hands over her mouth and her eyes were shiny with tears.
"Daph? Are you ok?" I asked, worried I'd done something wrong.
She jumped into my arms and I stumbled back a step, but caught her.
"Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!"
"I take it you like them?"
Daphne nodded into my chest and I chuckled.
"This is the nicest thing anyone has ever done for me. I haven't celebrated my birthday with anyone since my parents passed away. I love you all so much."
Daphne directed this to my whole family and Steve and they each took turns giving her hugs.
"Are we riding or what?" Steve asked and everyone cheered.
Daphne and Steve helped everyone with their horses. She was on Prince and I was on Gracie. Steve was on his horse, Max and had put mom on a horse named Lolly, dad on a horse named Spencer, Kat on a horse named Bob, and Danny on Sierra. Everyone was so happy, but Daphne's smile was the brightest of all.
She and I rode up front, followed by Danny and Kat, then mom and dad, and Steve took up the rear. Everyone was having a really good time, including the horses and I couldn't have been happier.

Daphne led us out into the field and I knew what was happening next. Everyone lined up and Daphne looked over to me. "Wanna race?"
Before I could even answer, she and Prince took of like a lightning bolt.
"No fair!" I called out as Gracie and I raced forward. I heard Daphne laugh up ahead and could see she'd already won.
I stopped Gracie next to Prince and pointed a finger at Daphne. "You cheated."
"No I didn't," she said innocently.
"Oh you didn't?"
"Nope," she answered, popping the p.
The rest of our group caught up to us and Kat laughed at me for being "such a slow poke."
"I didn't see you racing her."
"I couldn't just leave Danny," she retorted and we all laughed at her excuse.
After we untacked, I pulled Daphne to the side.
"So, I was thinking. Now that we own these horses, we'll need somewhere to keep them."
"We can't keep them here?" she asked.
"We could, but I was thinking somewhere closer. Like here." I showed Daphne my phone which had a listing for a fifteen acre ranch just outside Boston.
"Are you serious?" she asked.
"It's twenty minutes from work and we'd have the horses right in our backyard."
Daphne threw herself into my arms once again and kissed me.
"So you like it?" I asked her.
"Yes!"
"Good, because I already bought it."
Daphne laughed and we joined the rest of our family for pizza and cake. I had gotten Daphne's favorite: cold chocolate cake with fudge instead of frosting. Steve kept it in his fridge to keep it cold so it was perfect.
There was a smile glued to Daphne's face and I was so happy I could make this day amazing for her. I still had one more surprise though.

Mason was taking me out to a fancy dinner tonight. He was spoiling me so much today.
I was wearing a black off the shoulder high low dress and a pair of black stilettos. I left my hair down in its natural waves and did some light makeup.
"You look absolutely stunning," Mason said as he came up behind me. He wrapped his arms around me and I turned my head so he could kiss me.
"You don't look so bad yourself," I told him. He was wearing one of his suits without the tie and the top few buttons were left undone. He looked sexy as hell.
Mason chuckled and led me downstairs.
"Where are we going?" I asked as Mason walked me through the living room.
"The balcony."
I was confused until Mason opened the door. There was a table right in the middle of the balcony and all around there were fairy lights and tea lights.
"This is beautiful," I told Mason.
"I'm glad you like it."
Mason pulled out my chair for me and then sat down himself. A server then came over and poured wine for us.
"You really went all out here."
"It's not everyday the most beautiful woman in the world turns 25," was his response and I giggled.
Dinner was delicious. Mason had gotten all of my favorite foods for me. This day couldn't have been any better.
"I have one more surprise," Mason told me and he took my hand. He led me to the edge of the balcony and dropped my hand. What's going on?
Mason got down on one knee and I gasped when he pulled out a little velvet box.
"Daphne Miller, you have changed my whole world. You're like a light that brightens everything around you and I love you for that. I love everything about you. You are the kindest, most generous person and I would love nothing more than for you to be mine."
Mason opened the box and the most beautiful diamond ring sat there.
"Daphne? Will you marry me?"
I nodded fiercely, because I was too busy trying not to cry to talk. Mason stood up and slid the ring onto my left hand. Then he picked me up and spun me around.
"I love you so much Daph," he told me.
"I love you too Mason."

Following a shocking attack and a cruel deception, Dorothea grows her conscience and takes up arms, using her self-destructive ability to manipulate the flow of time to ensure Sacer’s victory. Her growing understanding of war and the two factions is guided by Iree Nobelis, the determined and enthralling commander of Sacer’s forces, Ariana Kingfisher, a steely swordswoman of mixed Ghurian and Sacerian descent, and Rhys Tamlin, a kind but haunted soldier who goes to challenge Dorothea’s self-imposed celibacy and join her on a mutual journey of healing from the tragic legacies of the Atlin family and wars between the nations. Meanwhile, Dorothea’s only friend and deserter from the Sacerian military, Shark Olyen, returns to their homeland to face the family that disowned them and finds more than they bargained for in meeting Cerid Creed, a noble whose duty to his people clashes with his desires in romance and in life, much like Shark’s did long before. As their developing or preexisting loves and differing convictions on how to achieve peace create rifts between these major players, Dorothea experiences a personal revolution that leads her to fight for what she believes is right, no matter the cost.
