《Beauty and the Beast》Chapter 22

I couldn't help but stare at Kieran and Ezra as they conversed over lunch, speaking of old times. It's been almost two weeks of silence. This was just plain normal and honestly, it weirded me out.
Most of what Ezra told us, we had already known, but he did confirm that most people outside the pack had no knowledge of my pregnancy. Ezra believed Kieran and his family dead, his captors keeping him isolated from the outside world except when it came to questioning him.
He would have died if it weren't for one of his captors daughters who cared for him in secret. He told us how he slowly began to fall in love with her and he wishes for them to be mates. But he doesn't know why or how he got here.
Seeing Kieran happy made me happy.
I turned when I heard a feminine voice shouting.
Ezra shot up at the sight of a beautifully caramel skinned woman approaching , her hair choppy brown curls and styled in what you would call a pixie cut, but it looked unintentional as if her head once held a mane of curls.
"Leah." Ezra spoke in disbelief.
Ezra bounded down the porch as the exhausted woman fell in his arms, trying to catch her breath.
I winced at the bruise I saw on her cheek.
"Oh love, what did they do to you?" Ezra said as he scooped her up into his arms.
"They told me you were dead. I knew it couldn't be true. " she said as she caressed Ezra's cheek.
"I'm so sor-
She silenced him with her lips pulling back after a few seconds after to catch her breath.
"I love you, but there is not a thing to be sorry for. I will always stand up for the man I love." She spoke strongly.
Ezra smiled at her words.
He placed her on the ground and I watched as she turned toward me, eyes widening in realization.
"You're the one they're looking for." She whispered . I watched as she pulled a scraggly envelope from her pocket, handing it to me with shaking hands.

I opened it to reveal a few photos and I looked at the photos of me smiling as I stood with Kieran, the photos zoomed in as if the camera were focusing through our bedroom window. The first was of Kieran and I laughing, the next of us kissing, the last two were close ups of our faces with captions below our headshots.
The snipers must have taken it and sent the photo before we could get to them.
I dropped the photos as I read the words written below Kieran and I's figures.
Under my figure read "Capture Alive and Unharmed " under Kieran's read "Kill on site, Bring me his head" and not only was there a dollar amount by my photo, but also under Kieran's.
There was no way anyone could capture Kieran alive. They would try to kill him.
My Kieran.
I could feel the tears already staining my cheeks as I looked up quietly. I felt like I was going to be sick as I watched the photos hit the ground, the world seeming to slow around me.
I wasn't crying out of sadness though, I was fucking pissed that fucking people couldn't just leave us the fuck alone.
"Charlotte." Kieran spoke, grabbing my arms to steady me as I slightly wavered, my knees feeling weak at the thought of losing my mate.
"I'm not the only one with a price on my head." I whispered up to him.
I watched as Kieran's hazel orbs stirred with realization.
"Listen to me. No one, and I mean not a single soul, is going to ever take you from me. Ever. We are going to be just fine Charlotte." Kieran growled.
"I know we will." I said.
I watched as Leah growled, eyes focused on someone behind me. I turned to see Vivian, her figure sauntering by in the distance.
Leah bolted towards her and before I knew it she was pounding away at Vivian's face with her fist.
By the time Ezra peeled Leah off of Vivian's pathetic screaming figure, Vivian was bloodied and dazed.

I was impressed at the fact that someone as petite as Leah could cause so much damage.
"That bitch was fucking there! She's the one who fucking cut my hair!" Leah yelled.
I watched as Vivian suddenly became afraid.
"Take her to the cellar, chain her up. She's done more than enough harm to this pack. I should've locked her away a long time ago. Constantly hurting my family. My apologies Charlotte, Leah, and Ezra. I should have done this sooner." Kieran spoke.
Vivian tried to run as Daniel grabbed her, but she was instantly silenced as Elise injected her with something and she slumped forward.
I looked up, facing the silence that filled the air.
"Come on sweetie. It's time." Elise told me.
I smiled, knowing what she was implying.
I sighed, relaxing as I laid back in the pack doctor office, waiting for Elise as she prepared the sonogram machine. Kieran sitting next to me in a chair, bouncing his legs nervously.
I closed my eyes at the feeling of the cold jelly being placed on my belly and Elise began to move the sonogram wand around my pelvis.
A minute passed and I heard Elise's small chuckle.
"Oh darling, she's as healthy as can be." Elise said grinning.
"She?" I asked smiling.
"Yes, we've got ourselves a beautiful girl on the way." Elise said grinning.
I turned toward an awestruck Kieran, his eyes still on the sonogram in disbelief, his smile widening.
Kieran gripped my hand, turning towards me as he hovered over my now slightly bulging stomach since we were a little more than half ways through.
"Hey baby girl, this is your daddy. Now I don't know if you can hear me, but I want you to know that you are gonna have yourself a wonderful mama. She's so smart, and as beautiful as could be and I'm happy because I know you'll be just like her." Kieran said.
I nearly jumped when I felt something that felt like a light kick inside of me.
"I-I think she moved, she heard you." I said grinning in awe.
"Someone's gonna be a Daddy's girl." Kieran said smiling.
I chuckled as he helped me up from the table, excited to share the news with everyone.
We walked downstairs and out to the porch where everyone had already began gathering, most of the pack lingering below around picnic tables that were set up.
I grinned when I saw Katrina and Solomon had just arrived, as well as Pierre and Giselle.
"So? Tell us already!" Yelled Alina excitedly.
I looked up at Kieran and he grinned.
"It's a girl." Kieran shouted.
I laughed as everyone erupted into cheers.
Of course I was nervous at first, but now I'm actually excited.
I smiled as I looked around. I had no need to be afraid. Everyone around me holds a special place in my heart, and I know if I would ever need help they would all be there for me in a second.
I smiled as I rubbed my small belly. I was going to be the mother of Kieran's pup. It took time for me to accept that, but I started to and I know I am ready. I love him. I can finally wrap my mind around the fact that the tiny pup inside of me was half of him and half of me, and I couldn't be more proud of that. I loved our daughter already and I can't wait to see the light she will bring to this world.
I turned as Kieran cleared his throat, catching me in my thoughts and I felt my face burn red at being caught.
I chuckled as he kissed my neck, taking me in his arms.
I stood up in tip toe , kissing his lips softly.
"I love you Kieran." I whispered.
"Today, Tomorrow, and Forever." He whispered.
I smiled and in that moment I knew one thing for sure.
I was not going to let a single person take this away from me.
