《Beauty and the Beast》Chapter 20

"Someone put a price on her. No one knows who, when they get her they're supposed to contact the buyer and he names the location. There's nearly a hundred people bidding on her, and the price drops every five hours as incentive. " James spoke.
"How do you know this?" Kieran asked his father.
"I encountered the snipers partner , he was trying to flee. He's in custody.
"What would make someone want to kidnap a mated woman?" I asked in disgust.
"1.6 million dollars." James answered.
My jaw dropped.
"For me? I'm not that special, I can't even shift right now!" I yelled, immediately regretting my slip of tongue.
"You're pregnant?!" Elise and my mother yelled at the same time, both of them grinning.
Alina squealed as I nodded, a blush creeping itself on my face as Kieran sent me a wink.
James smiled as Elise shook him happily.
"We're gonna have a grand baby. Oh your first pup. I'm so excited. How are you? Do you feel okay? Do you need anything? I sure ate a lot of brownies when I was pregnant with Alina." Elise said.
"That's probably why she's so damn hyper." James mumbled.
I chuckled when Alina growled at her father in defense as she grinned.
"I still don't understand why people are so interested in me? I don't get it." I said.
"Besides your shifting ability, it's not you, rather than what you can do." I heard from Pierre.
I watched as he nearly glided in, walking with a grace to envy.
"You all forget I have lived nearly a thousand years. I knew the first of your kind. You are not the first woman shifter. There was a woman many years ago with your same ability, she was an orphan but she did not hide her ability because they lacked the self control you all have today and the pull of the moon was far too strong. An alpha forced himself upon her and she later bore a daughter, a female Alpha, and then she later bore a another girl, also able to shift. It was unheard of and they were all later found dead." Pierre spoke.

"What does that have to do with me?" I asked.
"Because unlike her, you are also a Luna, the mate of the Alpha, but because you were an Alpha first, every child you bare with an Alpha male, whether it be male or female , will inherit the ability to shift." Pierre said.
"They want her for breeding. They don't know she's pregnant. They're going to come after the baby next." Kieran spoke aloud. When I heard that I was immediately pissed because I knew Kieran was right. I just didn't get how people could be so disgusting.
"What the fuck is wrong with people?! I'm not a baby machine, I have a personality, I'm a human being, I'm not going to just spread my legs and do nothing. I'd like to see those fucking pigs try and touch my pup. I'll rip out their heart out myself if someone dares to even think about harming my child. " I growled, feeling my wolf want to come forward at the thought of her pup being harmed. I focused on the hardwood floor beneath me, trying my best to calm down. I knew it had to be the hormones because for the last week my moods had been changing so quickly, I thought I was just coming down with something.
I hadn't even realized my fist were balled until I saw the wood beneath me collect a few drops of red. I looked down to see my clawed fingers curled into my palm.
I growled lowly as I breathed out slowly as I looked up.
Kieran was watching me with a smirk.
"Woah girl, your hormones are already making you feisty. I like it." Alina said with a grin.
I watched as Kieran watched me with a grin. His hard stare causing my wolf to perk up, flashes of his lips on my body, knowing the pleasure he could bring, it had me shifting on my feet uncomfortably, feeling the need for him spike.
He knew exactly what he was doing to me too and his smile widened as his eyebrow arched at his newfound revelation.
"Asshole." I growled out, more mad at myself and lack of control over my lust for Kieran.

"Aye mija, your language sure is colorful now." I head in a voice that I haven't heard since I was just a teenager.
"Alejandro?!" I yelled in disbelief. He was Beta to the first pack we were in, but kicked out of after eight years when the Alpha tried to force himself on me when I was only fifteen.
I launched myself at my old friend, grinning as he lifted me off the ground as if I were a kid again.
"What are you doing here?" I asked in disbelief.
"Kieran called me about his banquet, I told him I'd still bring a gift for the lovely Luna he spoke of who sounded oddly familiar." He said with a grin.
"You're the Alpha?" I asked with a grin.
"I took over a few months after you left, I tried to find you and invite you both back, but you were impossible to track down." I said.
"We hopped around a lot, but now things are good. I'm happy." I said grinning as Kieran smiled at me.
I watched as Alejandro suddenly took on a hard stare and moved behind me quickly.
I jumped when his fist collided with my fathers jaw, my father accepting the blow , wiping his cracked lip with his finger.
"I'm sure they spared you the details of everything they've had to go through , so you don it understand the things she has had to go through as a child. The constant bullying, the men who've tried to force themselves upon her when she was still a young girl. You were not there, I was. I was there when she cried herself asleep. I was there when she asked why her daddy didn't want her like all the other kids' fathers wanted them. All the fights she's been in, defending her mother and a man she didn't even know. I was there when you weren't, back then I loved that woman despite her heart belonging to a pathetic excuse of a man like you. I just hope you learned to cherish what you have in front of you now that fate has given you a second chance. One you do not deserve." Alejandro growled.
My father's eyes reached mine, for once hearing details of the life I lived.
I cleared my throat, trying my best to rid of the awkward silence.
My mother broke the silence as she came forward, greeting Alejandro with a kiss on the cheek. He smoothed her hair as she smiled at him.
"You're even more beautiful than I remembered." He told her.
I couldn't help but wonder if his love for my mother still existed, if she ever loved him, even just a little. He was always kind to her and treated me as if I were his own daughter.
My mother said something and he looked past her, eyes wide with excitement as he stared at me.
"You're going to have a pup?" He asked smiling.
I nodded as Kieran grinned proudly next to me.
"I always knew you'd be an excellent mother some day. Even when she was still a kid herself, she would walk a mile into town every day and read to the pups in the library for hours and hours." Alejandro said.
I chuckled at the memory.
"Those were some good times." I said.
"Alex? Have you heard any rumors up North? Anything about a female shifter?" Kieran asked him, turning the topic to something more serious.
I watched as Alejandro's smile faded and he nodded quietly. There's an Alpha that just took over for his father. He was rumored to challenge you for your mate, but everyone knew he wouldn't win. He said he wanted to finish what his father had started." Alejandro.
"Who is he?" I asked.
"I don't know exactly. They've never tried to form an alliance of any sort." He spoke.
"I am disliked by many, that could be anyone." Kieran said.
"Well we've got some work to do then don't we." I spoke.

Just next time tell me you're going to start running so I can win. You made me look silly." He rolled his eyes like a child and I snorted, peppering his reddened cheeks with kisses to which he softened up by."I'm sorry." 8 78The Mischievous Mrs. Maxfield
***The wrong girl is sometimes The Right One.*** Charlotte Samuels thought she'd be stuck waiting tables at Marlow's until all her debts are paid off-in about ten thousand years or so. She definitely didn't expect a marriage proposal from the arrogant Brandon Maxfield who was blackmailed by his father to make her his wife if he didn't want his least favorite cousin to run Maxfield Industries. Charlotte's instinct was to say HELL NO! but she's stumped by a few obstacles: 1.) His old man Martin Maxfield is dear to her heart and has been recently deteriorating in health. 2.) She gets a million dollars if she stays married to Brandon for a year. 3.) She would rather like the opportunity to teach the attractive but awfully rude man a few lessons he didn't think he needed from a 'teenage gold-digger' which was his term of endearment for her on their first date-er, business meeting. So what's a girl got to do, right? Sure, she's young and a little rough around the edges but there's something her would-be husband didn't know about her yet-she's nothing like he ever expected. Thrust into the glitzy world a standard-issue Mrs. Maxfield would fit perfectly and rule with impeccable social grace, Charlotte will either have to force herself into the mold or break free of it, risking what little she has left for everything that she can gain.*** Copyright © 2014 by Nina Tippett.
