《The Babysitter✔️》Chapter||5

It turns out Jace was right... I should have stayed over.

I was supposed to wake up at five but I overslept. In a hurry, I brushed my teeth and then found a pair of leggings and a tshirt. I didn't have enough time to change, so I threw them in a bag and practically ran out the door in my pajamas.

Luckily I made it to the Johnson's just in time, I pulled out the key Ms. Johnson gave to me and opened the front door.

I walked inside, and Jace was in the kitchen mixing up some sort of smoothie with an energy powder or something, I walked past him towards the bathroom so I could change.

"I told you, you should have stayed over," he said without even looking up as I walked into the kitchen. I made a face at him and then walked up the stairs to wake up Cal and Hal.

I opened Hallie's door and walked over to her bed "Hallie, it's time to get up," I whispered. She let out a little whine, but rubbed her eyes and sat up in her bed.

Now I had to wake Cal up. I didn't wanna open the door, so I knocked on it "Cal wake up." After I knocked a couple more times, I shrugged and opened it.

Sure enough Cal was fast to sleep. "CAL," I yelled.

"Go awayyyyyy," he moaned "I don't wanna go to schoooool."

"Cal get up or I'll get a bucket full of ice water." I threatened.

"You can't." He replied groggily.

"And why can't I?" I demanded.

"I destroyed all the buckets last night." He stated. He destroyed all of the buckets. Smart kid.

"What about Lacy?" I asked tauntingly, "You don't want to miss hanging out with her do you?"

He bolted out of bed and ran to his closet, "I'm awake!" He shouted.

"And I'm blinded!" I replied covering my eyes. Note to self: Cal sleeps in his underwear. I walked downstairs to start cooking breakfast.

I got a text reminder from Mrs. Johnson.

'Alexis,

Make sure Cal and Hallie get dressed.

Feed them.

Escort Hallie to the bus stop, and she can wait with the neighbors.

Take Cal to school with you, and everything should be good.

-Claire Johnson

P.S. Hallie will pretend to wake up, but she really goes back to sleep. Turn her overhead light on, because she cannot reach the switch.'

Oh no.

I ran up the stairs to see Hallie asleep on her bed. "Hal, sweetheart. Get up." I said gently.

"Nooooo." She whined.

I frowned, I felt really bad, but in the end I turned her light on and left.

I cooked scrambled eggs and bacon along with a carton of orange juice I found in the fridge.

"Hallie! Cal! Breakfast!" I called up the stairs. I heard two pairs of footsteps, one was thunderingly loud, and the other was light and soft, but still noticeable.

"Food!" Hallie yelled cheerfully.

They both sat down at the table and wolfed their food down. I sat and ate while I watched amusedly as they downed their food.

I took a sip of my orange juice and Hallie made a face.

"Ewww! You did not just drink that!" She screeched in her cute little voice.

"Drink what? The orange juice?" I asked questioning.

Cal started coughing, but I was sure it was an attempt to cover his laugh.

"Yeah," she replied, her little nose was still scrunched up in disgust. "That's the carton that Jace drinks out of. He opens the fridge and drinks it straight from the carton! It's gross."

I choked on my spit and ran to the sink to rinse my mouth out.

I just drank after Jace Johnson.

"You practically kissed him!" Cal shouted.

"What?!? No! No I did not." I argued.

"Yes you did!" Hallie argued back, "His spit was probably in there, and you drank it, which is what happens when you kiss!"

Cal burst out laughing when Hallie implied that you drink people spit. "Bro that's disgusting!" He said through his laughter.

"DID YOU JUST CALL ME BRO?" Hallie screeched in her cute little voice.

"So what if I did?" Cal asked challengingly with a mysterious glint in his eyes.

"Hallie stop yelling, Cal be nice to your sister." I scolded.

They both looked at me like I was crazy, and then said in unison, "But she-he started it!"

"It doesn't matter, I'm ending it." I said. Woah. I just sounded like my mom when she used to break up Tyler and my fights.

"Awww." They both said in unison. I rolled my eyes.

I glanced towards the clock. Oh shit. It's 7:10 the bus comes in five minutes. "Everyone get your bags we gotta go!" I shouted.

They both ran upstairs and got their bags.

After we escorted Hallie to the bus stop, Cal and I ran to my car.

I looked at him, "You ready?"

"Let's do this!" He shouted. And then we drove off rather anti-climactically.
