Chapter 19:

I woke up to someone calling my name; I opened my eyes and saw my mom standing above me.

"Jesus mom, you scared me." I mumbled sleepily.

"Don't say that word Arabelle."

"What? Jesus?" I asked.

"Yes. That."

"Did you want something?" I asked.

"I wanted you to wake up, it's past 7."

"So?"

"You've got school."

I groaned, "But I just went to sleep an hour ago."

"That's not my fault." She said walking out of the room.

I sighed.

I had the worst headache of my life.

I closed my eyes, "Get up Arabelle!"

I threw the covers off me; Corey was sound asleep his arms still locked around me.

"Corey, wake up!" I said.

His eyes opened, I got out of bed and headed to the bathroom.

"Why did you wake me up at this ungodly hour?" He asked me.

"We have to go to school." I stated.

"I would rather take an axe and cut off my fucking head."

"Well I don't have an axe and I can just put your head back on, so."

He groaned and threw the covers over his head.

"Come on Corey I don't want to go by myself." I said.

He didn't move.

"Please?" I asked.

He peeked his head out from under the covers and looked at me with his gorgeous green eyes. "Please?" I said again.

He sighed, "Fine."

I smiled and continued to the shower.

After my quick shower I got out and walked to my closet, Corey was sitting up rubbing his eyes. I dressed in ripped jeans and a black band T-shirt.

I put on a pair of black sneakers and a gray cardigan then walked out of the closet.

Corey was already showered and dressed when I walked out.

His messy black hair was still wet; he was wearing black jeans with a studded belt and a white band T-shirt.

Corey and I walked downstairs.

"Hey Bells?" I heard my name called.

I turned around, "Yeah?" I asked Drake.

"I got your car towed to a garage, there fixing it; they said it would be ready in a week or so." Drake said.

"Oh okay, thanks." I replied.

"I bet you're wishing you didn't go to that concert now, aren't ya?"

"Yeah."

He headed towards the kitchen, "See ya later!"

"Bye." I said.

"So how are we going to get to school?" Corey asked.

"We'll take my other car." I replied.

"You have two cars?"

"4." I corrected.

"Wow, okay."

I grabbed the keys from the drawer in the hallway and Corey and I walked to the huge garage outside of the house.

I walked to the driver's side of the red Ferrari; I stopped before I got in and looked at Corey, "You probably want to drive, don't you?" I asked.

"Yeah!" He said with a huge smile.

I love his reaction to cars.

"You know my other cars a Lamborghini." I said.

"Oh my god, we are taking that tomorrow." He stated.

I laughed and handed him the keys.

School dragged on forever, I felt horrible, and I couldn't concentrate on anything.

Corey and I got in line for lunch.

I sighed; does the line have to be so long?

"Is something wrong?" Corey asked.

"I don't feel good." I muttered.

"Why don't we go back to the house?" He suggested.

"My mom will be mad if I miss school again."

"I'm sure she'll understand Arabelle."

I nodded, "Okay let's go."

We walked out of the school and Corey drove us back to the house.

When we got back I went to the kitchen and took some medicine for my headache.

"Is it just me or is it really, really hot in here?" I asked Corey.

"It's just you."

He looked at me for a moment then said, "I think you're sick, you shouldn't have gone out in rain."

"Well I wasn't going to cry in the car." I muttered under my breath not really intending for him to hear.

"I made you cry?" He asked.

I didn't answer him; I didn't want to talk about last night.

I heard him take a deep breath, I looked up and he was leaning over the counter with his face in his hands.

Why did I have to say that out loud?

Why does he care so much?

He looked up at me, "If you're sick shouldn't you go to the doctor?"

"It's just a cold, I'm sure." I replied.

"You should still go, just in case."

"I'm not as fragile as you think." I said.

He smiled, "Aren't you?"

"I'll be okay, thanks for the concern though." As I said this I walked to the thermostat in the kitchen and switched the heat off.

"Arabelle can I ask you something?"

"Sure," I replied.

"Would you ever...punish me?"

I stopped walking and looked at him; I was completely caught off guard by his question it took me a minute to answer. "Why are you asking me this?"

"Can you just answer?"

"No, of course I wouldn't."

"No matter what I did?" He asked.

"I don't understand why you're asking me this, did you do something?"

"No."

"Then why are you asking?"

"I don't know I feel like I keep waiting for something to happen, for you to get upset enough..." He trailed off, looking down at the floor.

"What ever could you do that would make me that upset?" I asked.

He looked up at me and shrugged. "You were upset last night."

"There is nothing you could do that would justify harming you in any way."

I went over to where he was standing and stood beside him.

He took my hand and held it in his, linking our fingers together.

"You should get some rest." Corey said.

"I'm very tired." I agreed.

I followed him upstairs to my room; he sat me down on my bed and took my other hand in his as well.

"How do you feel?" He asked.

"Hot. Very hot." I said.

"Do you want me to lay down with you?"

I nodded eagerly.

He breathed a laugh.

We laid down beside each other, his skin was cool, it felt so good!

I laid my head on his chest but his shirt was interfering with the coolness.

"Can you take off your shirt?" I asked him.

He slid off his t-shirt and threw it to the bottom of the bed.

I laid my head back on his chest and sighed when I felt his icy skin against mine.

I closed my eyes and started to fall asleep but before I did I thought I heard Corey say something along the lines of, "I'm going to enjoy this."

I wanted to ask him what he was talking about but I was too tired and I was quickly falling asleep.

I woke up later that night, sometime around 1 in the morning.

Corey was sound asleep; I slipped out of his arms and got out of bed.

I headed to the kitchen to get something to drink; I got myself a glass of water and quickly drank it down.

I set the glass down and turned around, I almost screamed when I saw someone standing in the kitchen a few feet from me.

I realized it was Trey and sighed. "God Trey you scared me."

He smiled, "Sorry, I didn't mean too."

"It's okay, I scare easily. What are you doing up?"

"Oh nothing, I couldn't sleep." He replied.

He stepped into the light and I saw the huge bruise on the side of his cheek.

I knew what it was from without having to ask. "Are you okay?" I asked.

"If you're talking about the bruise, yeah I'm fine. It's no big deal." He said.

"It is a big deal." I said.

He shrugged, "I've had worse...much worse."

I shivered and not because I was cold.

"What are you doing up? It's late." He said.

"Yeah, I came to get something to drink."

"You look very pale." He noted.

"I think I'm sick." I said.

"Oh, how'd you get sick?"

"I stood out in 30 degree weather when it was raining."

"Why on earth would you do that?" He asked.

I sighed, if it was anyone else I wouldn't have felt like talking about it but for some reason I felt like I could trust Trey.

"When Corey and I went to the concert my car broke down on the way back and, uh...we got in an argument and I got out of the car because I didn't want to cry in front of him." I said.

Trey looked sympathetic. "I'm sorry. If you don't mind my asking what was the argument about?"

"Different things but I got upset because he kind of said he didn't want to be friends."

"Now who would not want to be friends with you?"

I smiled, "He got mad because I'm so nice too him, he said it was my fault we were friends."

"Why doesn't he want to be friends?" Trey asked.

He seemed to be truly interested.

"He thinks it's wrong for vampires and humans to be friends."

"No offense but he sounds a like hypocrite." Trey said.

He didn't say it in a mean or offensive way.

"I'm not trying to be mean, I like Corey."

I nodded, "I understand what you're saying. I just don't understand why he thinks it's wrong for us to be friends."

"Think about it this way, you were raised to see vampires as horrible monsters, right?" He asked.

I nodded.

"Now vampires are supposed to think the same about humans, obviously you ignored what everyone says about vampires or you wouldn't even be talking to me let alone about a friendship with Corey. But Corey believed everything every vampire has said about humans."

I thought for a moment, "Well when you put it that way it's easy to understand. Thank you."

Trey smiled, "Glad I could help. It's good to meet such a nice person; I was starting to think all humans were cruel. No offense."

"Non taken, trust me I think the same thing."

"I think you should've been a vampire." He said.

I laughed, "Seems like it doesn't?"

"Now why can't every think like you?"

I shrugged, "I don't know, but it's my life's goal to try and get them to."

He smiled, "Well would be it okay if I considered us friends?"

"Of course!" I said.

I walked up to him and gave him a hug.

He hugged me back, "You truly are a delightful person." He said.

I pulled away and smiled, "Thanks so are you."

"You should probably go back to bed; I truly hope you feel better."

"Thanks."

I walked back to my room and got in bed.
