Chapter 8
After school Corey and I walked to the limo.
Everyone was standing around it talking.
"Hey guys." I said.
"Hey," They all replied.
We rode to the mall; Corey has personal space issues apparently because he wouldn't let anyone but me sit within 2 feet of him. He's psycho.
We reached the mall and I saw the place we're Sam told me she got her lip pierced.
(I have an idea.)
"Hey guys I'm gonna go to this store but I'll find you guys when I'm done." I said.
They all agreed and started walking towards stores.
Corey stayed beside me.
"Come on," I said walking towards the store.
"What are you doing?" He asked, suspiciously.
"Getting my nose pierced." I said.
"What, are you serious?"
"Dead," I replied.
I was really excited I've wanted to get a nose ring for a long time.
"You know it's gonna hurt." Corey said.
"So, a lot of things hurt." I said.
Turns out it did hurt; a lot.
"Son of a bitch," I said, feeling the new nose ring.
"I told you it was gonna hurt." He said.
We walked out and went to a clothing store.
"You need new clothes." I said to Corey.
"You don't like my clothes?" He asked.
"You need more." I said.
I walked in and threw things at him.
"Hold these," I said.
"Sure," He said.
After I gathered a decent amount of clothing for Corey and a few things for myself, ok more then a few.
We left the store and went searching for my friends.
We found them at a CD store.
"Hey-what the fuck?" Sam said.
"You like it?" I said referring to the nose ring.
"I love it, its badass," She said.
I chuckled.
Corey and I looked through the CD's.
"So what happened to me telling you not to talk to me?" Corey asked.
"Like I'm going to listen to you." I replied.
"You should."
"No I shouldn't."
After a few hours we left the mall and I dropped everyone off at their houses.

"Did you ever talk to anyone?" I asked Corey.
"I talked to you." He said.
"I mean besides me." I said.
"No,"
I rolled my eyes.
We arrived at the castle and walked in.
"I'm back mom." I said, walking in her office.
"Okay dear." She said looking up from her desk.
"What- She sighed.
"Please tell me that's fake." Mother said.
My father looked up.
"Nope," I said.
"Arabelle," My mother said shaking her head.
"What it's not that big if a deal." I said.
"You didn't even ask us." Father said.
I shrugged.
He shook his head, "Alright Bell go run along now."
I walked away with Corey following.
"That's it? There not even gonna yell?" Corey asked.
"Nope," I said.
We walked into my room.
I was on the bed doing my homework.
I finally finished after what seem like hours.
I looked over and Corey was sleeping in the recliner with a book over his face.
I chuckled.
I walked over to him.
"Corey," I said.
He didn't move.
I took the book off his face.
"Corey!" I said louder.
"What," He groaned.
"I'm bored," I whined.
"Go listen to music." He said rolling over.
"Stop being lazy," I said.
"Go away," he mumbled into the chair.
I sighed.
I walked to the library and grabbed the vampire book I was reading. I sat down in the chair and started reading.
After I was halfway through the book I set it down.
"That's a long book," I muttered to myself looking at the clock.
Corey walked in yawning.
"It's about damn time," I said.
"Well you managed to occupy yourself without me." He replied.
"I thought vampires didn't sleep." I said.
"Usually During the day, that's why I'm tired." He replied
"Do you like to read?' I asked.
"Yes." He answered.
He walked up to the bookcase.
I watched him pick up a book and scan through the pages.
"Get up," he said.
"Why?" I asked.
"You're in the only chair." He said.

"Get another one." I said.
"No you do it."
"I was here first." I said.
"And I don't know were any other chairs are." He said.
(That was true.)
"Where am I supposed to sit? I don't know were any chairs are."
I said.
He thought for a moment.
"You can sit on my lap," He said.
"I don't think so," I said.
"It either that or the floor take your pick."
I sighed. "Fine," I said getting up.
Corey sat down in the chair and patted his knee.
I sat down in his lap and leaned back against the arm of the chair.
"Pedophile," I muttered.
"I heard that."
"Good." I said.
We read our books.
This book last for eternity, it had over 1,000 pages.
There can't be that much information about vampires.
I yawned.
I set the book down and leaned my head against Corey's shoulder.
He glanced down at me but didn't say anything.
I closed my eyes and fell asleep.
***
I awoke on my bed.
I was cuddled around something cold; my pillow probley.
"Arabelle?" I heard Corey's voice.
He sounded really close; too close.
I opened my eyes to see Corey's bare chest.
What? Don't tell me... I looked up and saw that I was cuddling with Corey.
"What the hell?" I said.
"Don't look at me; you did it to me." He said.
(Damn my cuddling with things.)
I sighed. "What time is it?"
"11:05" He replied.
"At night?" I asked.
"Good morning," He said.
"Why didn't you wake me up?" I asked.
I felt him shrug. "I don't know." He said.
"Nice, thanks Corey now I'm gonna miss school."
"You could still go," He said.
"There's no point now." I said yawning.
I leaned my head against his chest and closed my eyes.
"I'm going back to sleep." I said.
"Well if you are then I'm." he said.
"Oh and Corey?" I asked.
"Yeah?"
"You're a pedophile." I said.
"You did this to me." He protested.
"You could've pushed me off but you didn't." I said.
"Cause you think I'm sexy." I said quoting him.
He chuckled. "I'm not gonna lie; I think your gorgeous." He said seriously.
I looked at him; shocked.
"What?" I said.
"You heard me." He said.
***
I woke back up at 5 pm.
"Arabelle," I heard my mother's voice.
I opened my eyes and saw her standing by the bed beside me and Corey. I shoved Corey. His eyes opened.
"Yeah mom?" I said still cuddling with Corey.
She smiled. "Can I talk to you for minute dear?"
I unwrapped myself from Corey and got off the bed following her to the hall.
She closed the doors behind us.
"Yeah?" I asked.
"Is there something you want to tell me?" She said raising an eyebrow.
"No..." I said slowly.
"Is there something going on with you and Corey?" She asked.
"Oh that? That was nothing." I said.
"I came to tell you that your father and I are leaving for a few days and the chef and maids are on vacation so you'll have to make your own dinner while we're gone and don't make the house really messy."
"Okay," I said.
"Love you." She said.
"Love you." I replied.
She then left down the stairs.
I walked back into the room and saw Corey sitting up on the bed.
"I'm gonna go get a shower." I said.
"Don't take forever." He said.
"Don't worry I will."
I walked into the bathroom and got in the shower.
I always take really long showers.
After 30 minutes Corey started banging on the door.
"Arabelle I've been patient but your taking forever." He yelled through the door.
"Deal with it!" I yelled back.
I heard him try to open the door but I had locked it.
(Ha, ha.)
After a few minutes the door opened.
Damn lock picker.
"I told you not to take forever, now I'm gonna have to come in there with you." I heard Corey say.

The Emperor's Concubine
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] The heroine is good and the villainess is evil. That was the absolute truth. That rule was undeniable as well as the fact that only the heroine would receive true love and her happy ending. Likewise, the malicious villainess would always suffer and leave the stage to clear the path for the perfect heroine in the end. So, for Blanche it felt like her world came crashing around her when she remembered the truth about her life. As the villainess in the typical romance novel “To Be Empress” she was fated to be condemned and abandoned by her lover. No matter how devoted she was to Theodore Estien, the emperor of Artias, she would only be the bratty concubine that would obstruct the heroine, who happened to be Theodore's lawful wife and the empress. In the end, the villainess would be deserted and executed. It was destined to happen like this, and yet she couldn't give up. She had to change the future. Preventing the romance between the main characters would get her killed. Much like trying to steer away from the enemies' intrigues, in which she was already caught up, would. But neither the heroine nor the emperor's political rivals would change the fact that Blanche loved the man that was supposed to be the heroine's. And no matter what happened she would always stay by her lover's side. So she wouldn't just follow the book's storyline and let her own doom arrive. Blanche would survive while trying to suppress all of the selfish desires that had made her the villainess. But was she truly fine with that? Did she not desire more than just surviving? Did she even have the right? Could the villainess ask for a happy end? Was she too brazen if she just wanted to stay with the man she loved and receive his affection? And wasn't there a bit more to this novel than she remembered? She didn't know and in the end that mattered little when the world around her changed with each day as more and more questions about the future and the past arose. "The Emperor's Concubine" will be updated thrice a week (usually on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays) *The Profanity tag was added due to the characters' occasional swearing, which should not happen too often.
