《Unveiling the Arcane》Sage

Caden kept looking down at his phone and snapped his eyes back up to me. He studied me for a moment before saying anything. "What are you having us do for you tomorrow?"
It seemed that Maddox had been giving hints. "You'll have to wait and find out," I smirked at the pleading face that he made.
He leaned toward me conspiratorially. "I promise to keep it a secret."
Laughing in his face might not have been the best option considering the face he made when I did just that. I shook my head in answer to his pleading. A scowl marred his face making the green in his eyes darken in color. I was close to admitting the plans to him when a girl approached and popped her ass on our table right on top of the art that Caden had been working on. Her legs went on forever and were barely covered by her skirt. Her light grey blazer was tied around her waist with her top unbuttoned enough to show cleavage. Caden scowled up at the girl annoyance clear on his face. She smiled lasciviously at him not even noticing the look of disdain on his face.
For some reason, she made me mad. I had never felt true jealousy over anyone, but I was starting to now. It was ridiculous since Caden wasn't mine. We were just friends and even if we weren't it was obvious, that he didn't even like this girl. "Hey Caden, I was wondering if you wanted to go out this weekend." She crossed her legs slowly running a finger up her thigh from the knee trying to draw attention to her legs. I wanted to break them both in half.
"Busy," Caden told her in a stony voice I had never heard him use before which made me feel a little better.
"With what?" She lifted her hand and traced her finger down Caden's bicep her diamond tennis bracelet glimmering in the light.

I had to physically restrain myself from breaking every one of her fingers. These reactions were surprising me. I had never been a very possessive person and I was being a psycho over a guy I had no claim over. His hand grabbed her wrist and he smiled at her smoothly, "I have plans. Thanks for asking though. Now could you please remove your butt from my paper?" He let go of her hand and I couldn't help but notice there was no longer a bracelet on her wrist.
She fluttered her eyes at him completely oblivious to what just happened. "Maybe next time?" She asked slipping off the table.
Caden looked mournful for a moment before he shook his head, "Sorry, I'm busy every weekend until graduation."
The girl pouted at him. Like an actual pout as if she were a five-year-old asking for a candy bar. "Who was that?" I asked him; not to put out a hit out on her or anything like that.
"No idea what her name is but I've gone to school with her since like middle school." He shrugged.
Caden watched the girl walking towards the door with a smirk on his face. "Why are you looking at her like that?" It wasn't a very pleasant look more like looking at the punch line of a joke.
"Look at her ass." He giggled.
My brows lowered while I glanced toward the girl walking through the door. My brows went up as I saw the smudges on the back of her blazer. I tried to hold back my smile but probably didn't do a very good job. "I was working with pastels, and she sat on it." Caden managed to get out around his laughing. I couldn't help but laugh as well.
The rest of the day went by quickly and I walked with the twins to work like I usually did. Even if I didn't have work, we always met the other guys there after school. Today the cafe was packed, and I was actually dismayed to be on shift. I liked my job generally, but I also liked spending time with my new friends. Tonight, It was just me and James. Mandy had the morning shift. There were a few other workers that I hadn't really worked with before. I always had a shift with either Mandy or James. The others had their shifts while I was in class so I usually only saw them between shift changes. I went over to trade out places with Mandy and clocked in.

James met up with me behind the counter and gave his normal disapproving look towards the guys at their usual table. "I see your usual stalkers are in attendance."
I wasn't sure what James' issue was with the guys. They had always been polite when they came in. He only started having an issue as I began to get closer and closer to them. I rolled my eyes and turned toward the espresso machine. "They worry since the attack I told you about." I reminded him.
James pierced his lips and if I didn't know him better, I would think he was upset I had four guys looking after me. His eyes softened suddenly as he looked over at me. "I know. I just worry. Those guys have never been one to stick around once girls get attached to them." He said it like I was a hopeless romantic.
I raised a brow at that, "It's not like I'm dating any of them. Besides I can understand not wanting any strings. I prefer my relationships like that too" I shrugged.
While what I had said was true, I couldn't help but wonder what it would be like. They were all amazing and I couldn't imagine feeling trapped with any one of them. They all had their good traits to go along with their bad. Caden was fun and outgoing even if he would rob you blind in a heartbeat. He had never stolen anything from me though; even returned the pens and pencils he had borrowed in class. Aiden was silent but always supportive and didn't mind telling you when you were being ridiculous. He had never used his abilities to take advantage of me. Maddox was sweet and gentle with his bigger size I knew he would never harm me. Even with his being the scariest ability of the four he was a morally good guy. Dante was the guy I knew the least about. From what I could tell something bad had happened to him that left him not damaged but profoundly affected. He was extremely protective of all the guys and was still reserved. He had some control issues and always eavesdropped on other people's conversations I noted with the tilt of his head he was listening to James and me right now.
I looked over at James who was watching me evaluate the guys. "Look, I get your just trying to look out for me. They may be bad at romantic entanglements, but they are good people. They have their problems like I'm sure everyone else does but I trust them." I smiled softly at that, amazed to find that it was true.
I had always had a hard time trusting people and they had somehow slipped through all my barriers. James' eyes softened more. "Okay. I'll stop giving you a hard time about them. Just know I'm always here if you need to talk." He smiled at me gently.
Returning the smile came naturally to me and I even shared the smile with Dante as he made no move to hide his eavesdropping.

The New Buggy Pirates
As a fan of One Piece, I've never liked the way they handled Buggy. He's a great character and all, don't get me wrong, but he should be on the same level as Shanks. Instead, they turned him into the worthless character he is, and that never sat right with me. In this story, he becomes something more than just comic relief. AU. Strong!Buggy Intelligent!Buggy This story is also on fanfiction.net written by me under the same username: Tallictr. Credit for anything original that I added to the One Piece story goes to me. Credit for everything (characters, settings, etc.) goes to Eiichiro Oda. (He created One Piece)
