《Accidental Nikkah》CHAPTER 17

The moon in the dark sky, is like hope in sorrow. You wanna just hang on to that hope and never let go, as it gives you a motive to continue. And the moon also doesn't dissappoint us, it keeps following us where ever we go.
Right now, Ruhee was disappointed with something, and that, was her mobile. It died on her when she needed it the most.
"I understand that I have treated you very ill at times, left you without touching for hours, fed you only once a day, and I need to by you new clothes and all but now, was not the time for revenge." she said staring at her mobile.
Ruhee had no idea were she was. With confidence, she had told Aayan that she would find the grocery store by herself. She signed.
Ruhee had left the house at 4:30pm and went to her left to find the grocery store. She walked and walked and walked. Took turns on unknown roads and streets. Turned back on the streets that had too many stray dogs. And kept on going.
She forgot she was out to go to the grocery store and was just looking around. She then saw a kid eating candy.
Even I want candy. No problem, I'll get it from the store.
And she halted in her steps realising her reason to be out first. She then looked around, to have no idea were she was. She thought to ask someone but she was scared. She took her mobile to see it was 5:22pm and her mobile was about to give up. She opened her text box and texted the first person on the list, and her mobile died.
Hopefully, he finds me.
It was 6:00pm now, and there was no sign of anyone who looked like Aayan. She signed and looked at the sky to see it now orange.
It's gonna be dark soon.
She kicked a pebble and walked forward. Her mind wandering.
Maybe he thought this was the best chance to get rid of me? But Ammi wouldn't let that happen.
She smiled at how much the mother-son duo loved each other. Even though Aayan can be a jerk to her, he loved his mother alot, and she admired that about him.
Ruhee sensed someone following her. She stopped in her tracks and slowly turned around to find, no one. She signed and turned to continue walking. She thought staying at one place was dangerous, so she kept walking but in the same area.
Aayan could track my mobile to find me.
She could still sense someone following her, she could feel figures lurking behind her. She was scared but maintained her cool. She looked around, to still find people walking by, but not much.

They won't hurt me in light and people around.
Ruhee then turned a corner to an empty street, and by now, the sun had gone to sleep. She was now panicking on the inside. And when those figures looked a bit close to her, she ran. She ran for her life and the figures chased her. She ran as fast as she could, but it was hard in her Abaya.
I am not going to be caught without a chase.
She turned a corner to run in to a wall, "Umf." The wall stretched its hands out to hold her from falling.
From when does a wall have hands?
She looked up to see an unknown man looking at her worried. She moved back from him, she looked back to see four goons standing, she backed from them. The guy came to stand in front of her and said, "Hello gentlemen, how may I help you?" Ruhee looked at the guy like he was crazy.
Can't he see they are goons? Why is he asking to help them?
"Hand over the girl." one of the goons said and Ruhee moved closer to the guys back. He looked at Ruhee and gave a charming smile. If not for the current situation, Ruhee would have swooned over that smile.
"Sorry, not possible, anything else?" the man asked again, nicely. One of the goons moved forward to grab Ruhee, but he was blocked by the guy, "I said, not possible." this time, his voice held seriousness. The goon went to punch the guy but he blocked him and punched him back, and hence, a fight had started
This feels like a movie.
"Yes, it does." the guy said, still fighting.
Did I say that out loud?
"Yes honey, you did." he said again, kicking the goon on his face. Ruhee blushed and kept her mouth and mind, shut.
In the end, as always, the good guy won, and the goons ran away. Ruhee jumped clapping her hands like a kid. The guy looked back at her and just chuckled, almost breathless.
He came and stood before Ruhee smiling, with his hands on his hips. "Thank you sooo much. If not for you, God knows what those goons would have done to me, but I wouldn't have let them touch me without a fight. Then again, I am too small to fight all of them, but you, God you were so cool, going bam and Bush....." Ruhee said, while showing a punching motion. The guy just chuckled at her.
Ruhee realized what she was doing and blushed. Ruhee looked at the guy, he was tall, lean and built, good looking. In short, one fine guy." What is a girl like you, doing out late?" he asked smiling at her. She smiled back at him, before scratching the back of her neck and said, "Actually, I got lost. My mobile also died on me." she said showing the mobile with a pout.

He just chuckled at her expression and told her to follow him, she hesitated as he was a stranger. He understood her hesitation and told her, "My name is Huzayl Ali, and I live a few blocks away. If I wrong you, you know my name." Ruhee looked at him and said, "What if you lied about your name?" he just chuckled at her and told her to follow him. This time, Ruhee followed.
"By the way, my name is Ruhee Shariff." she said, walking beside him. He looked at her and smiled, "Hey Ruhee." Ruhee chuckled and replied, "Hey to you too, Huzayl." They reached his house and walked up to the first floor. He unlocked his door with his keys and opened the door wide for Ruhee to enter. She smiled at him and entered.
She looked around at the single bedroom apartment and smiled. Huzayl gave Ruhee his charger to charge her mobile. As soon as the mobile was switched on, she called Aayan.
He picked up on the first ring, "Ruhee?" came his worried voice. "Hey." she meekly replied. "Oh thank god you are okay. Where are you? Are you hurt? How is your mobile back on? Tell me where you are? I'll come get you." she felt guilty for making him worry about her. She called out to Huzayl who had two mugs of coffee in his hands. She gave him her mobile and told him to tell the person his address, and he did.
He gave the mobile back to Ruhee and she heard Aayan say, "Who is he?" "My Savior." she says smiling at Huzayl, who was standing next to her smiling. "Huh?", "Just come get me and I'll tell you everything." Aayan told her he is on his way, when Ruhee was about to cut the call, he said, "Keep speaking to me, I don't trust that guy." Ruhee pulled back her mobile and stared at it.
What is with him?
She places the mobile near her ear again and says, "Don't worry Aayan, I trust him. You just drive safe and come and get me." and cuts the call. She goes to sit next to Huzayl, picking up her mug and taking a sip. She signed in content. "So, who is this Mr.Jerk?" Huzayl asks. Ruhee had saved Aayan's number as Mr.Jerk. She sheepishly smiled at him and replied, "Just a Jerk." Huzayl laughed at her and they started small talks.
Ten minutes later, the door bell rang. Huzayl got up to answer it. He opened the door to find a serious looking Aayan. As Aayan entered the house and saw Ruhee, something stirred in his eyes. Relief? Care? Worry? Ruhee didn't know and couldn't care as she ran to Aayan and hugged him, he replied to her hug by hugging her back, almost immediately, as if he needed to know she was here, and safe.
They pulled apart when someone cleared their throat. They pulled back and looked at Huzayl, who was standing there, arms crossed with amusement in his eyes. Aayan turned towards him to bring out his hand and said, "Aayan Ibrahim." Huzayl shook his hand and said, "Huzayl Ali."
Ruhee picked up her mobile from the charger and went to stand next to Aayan. "Thank you for helping my wife." Aayan said, "Wife?" Huzayl looked at Ruhee smirking, she just blushed at him, and hid behind Aayan. Huzayl looked at Aayan and said, "No problem. The goons were no match for me." "Goons?" Aayan questioned and looked at Ruhee, she avoided eye contact.
Huzayl looked between them and realized he shouldn't have said that. "Oh not many, only four." he said laughing nervously and looked at Ruhee to find her glaring at him. He shut up and stood straight. "Four?" Aayan almost yelled. He gave Ruhee a sharp look and she moved more behind him, away from his view.
He looked back at Huzayl and thanked him before leaving. Ruhee went to thank him and also said, "If I die today, I'll come and haunt you." Huzayl visibly gulped at her seriousness. She left after a bye.
She went down and got in the car. Aayan started the car and began to drive. Ruhee looked at him, to see him gritting his teeth and holding the steering wheel to tightly, enough to turn his knuckles white. Ruhee looked back in the front and signed.
Allah, save me from whatever is about to happen.

Needletongue, Carrotcake
The world isn't fair. If anything, the inherent injustice of the world is what separates it from the fiction we so adore. Luis Freighthold knew this all too well, and that was why it took a bit longer than it should have to realise when he suddenly had everything he could ever have wanted. Raised in a working-class single-father home, Luis had no other escape than fiction. Specifically, vampire stories of varying quality and genre. There was something appealing about the ability to fly, turn into shadows and become smoke. Danger. An unfamiliarity with the social world that rejected him so. Was it so wrong for him to hope for a different life? Maybe, maybe not. Either way, now he had it—a lust for blood and abilities beyond the understanding of civil man. Could you really say that he had anything left to complain about? A vampire story following an unconventional vampire boy forced to accept that maybe becoming a vampire doesn't magically solve all your problems. As a matter of fact, it might just make a whole bunch of them even worse. Regardless, Luis is prepared to try everything to live up to the vampire books he had previously gorged on. What did it matter that his vampire form had no teeth, replaced instead by a long, needle-tipped tongue? He was still a vampire, wasn't he? Chapters are around 10 A4 pages long, releasing once a week on Mondays, 01:00 CET.
