《Accidental Nikkah》CHAPTER 8

Lightning strikes first followed by the thunder, but we don't notice the lightning and just get frightened by the thunder. Same way, hearing what people say can be one thing, but doing what you feel about it can be another. If noticed, lightning is really beautiful.
It took everything in Aayan to send that 2 letter word.
Hi.
After the girls left, the boys drove back to the office.
Aayan kept staring at his hand. Then came out of his exterior, shook his head and looked ahead, Zubair was driving.
On the way to the office Aayan narrated all that had happened in the past few hours to Zubair.
With the screeching of the tires, the car came to an over dramatic stop, at the entrance of Aayan's company building.
Zubair stared at Aayan with a shocked expression, with both his eyes bulging out.
Aayan gave Zubair a bored look and exited the car.
He entered his company building and started walking towards the elevator, and entered along with his employees.
Aayan was a carefree boss. He would only get angry at his employees when they don't do their work properly. Other times, he is just polite to them, not over friendly like Zubair.
Just when the elevator was about to close, Zubair dashed into it. And murmed a small sorry.
One by one all the employees left the elevator. Aayan's and Zubair's office was situated at the top and final floor, floor number 43.
When the last employee got down on level 21, Zubair came and stood next o Aayan immediately.
"So that's why she gave you her number, so, that you could contact her about the matter. " Zubair said to Aayan or more like informing himself.
Aayan nodded looking ahead.
"I wondered why she didn't give me her number" Zubair said to himself in a low and almost sad voice, but Aayan heard and smirked at his friend.
Aayan kind of had an idea who this her was.
They got down on there floor and started moving to Aayan's office. Zubair was in deep thoughts.
He greeted his secretary who was sitting behind his desk and half opened his office door, but looked back to his secretary and said "Mason, don't let anyone in today, I am busy."

That's when Aayan noticed his friend standing in the middle of the hall way, with a finger on his chin and in deep thoughts.
What is that idiot thinking so hard about?
Mason got nervous and was about to say something but Aayan entered his office and regretted it immediately.
"Aayan." said a soft voice
Aayan looked up to find, Farheen, One of Aayan's most wise shareholders daughter.
Farheen had fallen in love with Aayan the moment she saw him and since then, she has been buzzing around him like a bee.
Farheen behaves exactly how Aayan likes a woman to behave. Talk softly, lower your gaze when other men are around, dress in a classic Indian attire, always covering your head, clean and tidy, etc etc etc......
Farheen would do anything to please Aayan as she loved him with all her heart.
God, why doesn't she get a hint that I am not into her.
Farheen ignores how Aayan is not interested in her and tries her best to impress him and his mom.
"What are you doing here, Farheen?" saying this, Aayan walks over to his chair and settles down.
Farheen gets up from the sofa she was seated at, adjusts her chudidar top and dupatta, and walks towards Aayan.
"Abba had wanted to deliver this file to you...." she shows the file "..... And I volunteered to drop it at you place for him. I also wanted to see you." Farheen explains softly.
Aayan accepts the file and looks at Farheen, waiting for her to say why she wanted to see him.
Farheen looked at Aayan and he urged her to continue.
"Oh, umm... I... Uhhm.... Mean... YES!!" she almost exclaims too excitedly.
"How is Ammi doing?" she asks.
Aayan signs and picks up the file she gave him and opens it "Alhamdulillah, she is fine." he replied.
"Oh." was all she said.
She was just standing their giving small glances to Aayan. While he seemed unbothered about it and kept flipping the pages of the file, reading it.
Suddenly, the office door is slammed open and Zubair enters taking long strides towards Aayan.
"When will you text her?"

"Text who?" Farheen asks frowning.
That's when Zubair notices another presence in the office.
"Oh, hey Farheen" he said smiling at her.
She only lowered her gaze to the floor.
Again.
Thought Zubair annoyed.
"I'll text Ammi in a short while...." Zubair gave Aayan a confused look, while Aayan ignored it and looked at Farheen ".... Anything else Farheen."
Farheen looked back at Aayan and said nothing before leaving the office.
"Dude, why do you tolerate her?" asked Zubair as soon as she left.
"Because I like her dad" was the reply Aayan gave and went back to reading the file.
"So?" Zubair questioned.
Aayan signed and said "So, I don't want to hurt her badly....."
"No, No..." Zubair interrupts him.
Aayan doesn't like being interrupted when he talks.
He rises his eyebrow at his friend.
"When are you going to text her, fool?"
Zubair says almost irritated.
Aayan didn't wanna think about it yet.
"Right now, all I wanna do is work, so Zubair, leave."
Zubair knew he won't tell him, yet, so he left.
Aayan worked the whole day. Without sparing a glance at other things, he worked and worked and worked. But somehow or the other, the raven black eyes would invade his minds, everytime.
He reached home by 10:15pm.
He checked up on his mom, to see her sound asleep.
He went up to his room freshened up, and picked up his mobile. Pressing a particular number, and hovering over the keyboard.
What should I text?
Will she still be up?
Should I text her tomorrow morning?
He brazened himself and typed.
Aayan - Hi.
Seeing no reply for awhile he was about to keep his mobile down when...
Wife - Who is this?
Aayan frowned.
How many texts does she get from unknown numbers to ask that?
Aayan - Your husband.
He waited for her reply.
Wife - Oh my dear Husband. How are you doing? Did you have dinner? Or should I send a slipper over for you?
Aayan - What?
Wife - Look at the time you idiot. Is this when you text me?
Aayan looked at the clock in his room to see the time.
10:51pm
Aayan - I was busy.
Wife - Oh!!! So you were busy huh? Then even I wasn't sitting around waiting for you text!!!
Before he could reply, another text came.
Wife - Here I was worried sick, whether or not you would text me and all you have to say is you were busy.
Why was she worried? She was the one who asked me to text her?
Aayan - Why were you worried?
Wife - You know what, never mind, you are one hopeless man.
Wife - Now what do we do?
Aayan rests his back on the beds head rest and stretches his legs on the bed, and gets comfortable.
Aayan - About What?
Wife - If you have forgotten let me remind you, that
Aayan - So?
Wife - So? What, So? We need to get a Talaq.
Aayan didn't like the sound of that.
Aayan - Why?
Wife - Unbelievable, you are actually okay with getting married to me?
Aayan didn't know how to reply to that. After awhile, another message popped up.
Wife - Even if are okay with it, am not. I want to get married to someone I love. So, let's meet up and end this.
Aayan frowned.
Someone she loved? Does she love someone?
That thought gave Aayan a bad feeling.
Aayan - Talaq is a bid deal. We should speak to our elders before taking any decision.
Wife - NO WAY!!! For your info, I had bunked college, and if my parents find out, I am doomed.
Aayan - I am not giving you a Talaq without your parents consent.
Wife - Why???
Aayan - Because I say so.
Wife - Bossy much!!
Wife - Fine, I'll think of something and text you back tomorrow.
Aayan - Okay!
After a long pause.....
Wife - Goodnight.
This bought a smile to Aayan's face.
Aayan - Goodnight.
He kept his mobile aside and rested his hands at the back of his head, and closed his eyes.
I need to tell Ammi everything.
