《Hot Chocolate》chapter three, dance.

Theo's parents weren't home so I went straight to his room and knocked on the door.
"Come in!"
I went into his room and sat on his navy bed. His new sheets were the only thing different in the whole room. It's always immaculate, which I never understood considering he's not one to spend time cleaning. A minute later, he came out of his ensuite soaking wet with just a towel around his waist.
"Hey."
"Sorry-" I turned away, "thought you'd be dressed by now."
"Calm down, we're not twelve anymore. Just need to grab my shirt." He held onto his towel as he opened his wardrobe and grabbed a few clothes.
"Someone got dressed up." He smiled as he looked me up and down, "You do know it's just Joey's house, right?"
"Shut up. I was in the mood to, and it's probably my last chance to before we go back school."
I admired his dripping wet muscles and hair as he walked back to his en-suite. I know I shouldn't but they weren't that defined a few months ago. "Hm sure, ok."
He closed the door behind him and I heard the towel drop. "It's a bit short though."
"Oh fuck off, we're not twelve anymore." I joked.
"Touché."
"Is Katie coming?"
"I'm not sure, haven't talked to her today."
"Oh, ok. Why not?"
He sighed lightly, "She wanted to meet up but I was with you."
"Oh no- don't let me get in the middle, please."
"I'm not, she just thinks that now you're back I won't want to talk to her anymore."
"Shit Theo, do you want me to talk to her?"
"Please don't, it's not important anyway, we're not dating and I just don't have time to."
"If she's here tonight you better talk to her."
"We'll see. What convinced you to come anyway? You weren't sure this morning and now you're all dolled up."
"Well I bumped into Matt at the-"
"Matt? You're dressed up for Matt?" He chuckled.
"No! I'm dressed up for myself. But he invited me so I can't not go."
"Hmm. I bet you wouldn't be dressed like that if he didn't ask."
"Be dressed like what Theo?"
"Like a normal teenage girl." He came out of the bathroom in black jeans and a large white t-shirt. His chain hung around his neck, matching the silver ring he always wears.
He gave me a spin and held out his arms to show off his outfit.
"Am I too underdressed to bring you to the party?"
I couldn't help but laugh at him as he put his shoes on.
"Yeah you are actually. A 'fit like that isn't going to win Katie over."
"Should I wear a short lavender dress as well?"
"No purple's not your colour, pink maybe?"
"Only if you'll do my makeup too." He slipped his red bomber jacket on and locked the door before we got into his car and drove to Joey's.
There were people inside and out, at least a hundred if not more. We slipped inside and into the sitting room to find our friends.
"Do you want a drink?" Theo shouted over the music.
"Yeah, I won't have too much though."
He blended into the crowd and I spotted Matt and Joey on the other side of the room so I decided to say hi.
Before I even made it over to the Matt spotted me and excused himself from Joey.

"Hey, you came."
"Yeah, couldn't miss it."
"You alone?"
"Theo drove, he's getting drinks."
"Oh ok. Wanna dance?"
I had just turned off the shower when I heard a knock on my door.
"Come in!"
At first I thought it was Dad but by the sound of the footsteps I knew it was Camila. I quickly threw a towel around my waist and debated on coming out but I need my clothes.
"Hey."
I froze slightly when I saw her.
"Sorry, thought you'd be dressed by now."
I'm glad she turned away so she couldn't see me staring at her. Cami wasn't one to get dressed up and show off her body, but right now she's sat on my bed in a tight purple dress that's showing off her full cleavage, making me feel a bit defensive. I know we're all getting older but the boys are just getting hornier and I know they'd ruin her in seconds.
"Calm down, we're not twelve anymore. Just need to grab my shirt."
I held onto my towel and smirked to myself as I went to get some clothes. I'm staying boring with just black and white clothes but I don't have anyone to impress... does she?
"Someone got dressed up. You do know it's just Joey's house, right?"
"Shut up. I was in the mood to, and it's probably my last chance to before we go back school."
I flexed my muscles slightly more as I walked back to my en-suite. "Hm sure, ok."
I closed the door so she couldn't see me before I made a comment.
"It's a bit short though."
"Oh fuck off, we're not twelve anymore."
If I wasn't for the sarcasm in her voice I'd think she was pissed off at me, but she seemed to take it as a joke. "Touché."
But I'm not joking.
Will she kill me if I give her a trench coat or ask her to change? Of course she will. It's best I keep quiet.
"Is Katie coming?"
Shit, I didn't want her to mentioned Katie. "I'm not sure, haven't talked to her today." I lied.
"Oh, ok. Why not?"
I sighed as I pulled my shirt over my head. I can't lie to Cam, she'll know.
"She wanted to meet up but I was with you."
"Oh no- don't let me get in the middle, please."
"I'm not, she just thinks that now you're back I won't want to talk to her anymore."
She's right, of course. But I can't admit that out loud. Though it's a horrible thing to say, she was just filling a gap that Camila had left.
"Well I bumped into Matt at the-"
"Matt? You're dressed up for Matt?" I chuckled. She has to be joking. Don't get me wrong, he's a great guy, but he's Matt. She's way out of his league.
"No! I'm dressed up for myself. But he invited me so I can't not go."
"Hmm. I bet you wouldn't be dressed like that if he didn't ask."
"Be dressed like what Theo?"
Shit, shouldn't have said that.
"Like a normal teenage girl."

I came out and gave her a spin to show her off my basic and boring outfit.
"Am I too underdressed to bring you to the party?"
"Yeah you are actually. A 'fit like that isn't going to win Katie over."
"Should I wear a short lavender dress as well?"
"No purple not your colour, pink maybe?"
"Only if you'll do my makeup too." My shoes and jacket were on and I grabbed my keys before locking the door and driving to Joey's.
It was full of people, but I'm not surprised, it's Joey we're talking about.
"Do you want a drink?" I shouted to Camila over the music.
"Yeah, I won't have too much though."
I slipped into the kitchen and grabbed a cup, filling it with punch before grabbing myself a coke. The boys will slag me for not drinking but someone's got to play big brother and drive home.
I spotted Katie walking over to the beer pong table and hesitantly followed her. I want to end whatever we had but Camila coming back was terrible timing, and I don't want her to think that's why I'm doing it.
"Hey."
"Oh, hi."
Her dark brown hair was tied up and she was wearing a blue top and skirt, which looked like two headbands around her body. Maybe Cami's outfit wasn't that revealing after all. But Katie doesn't have Cam's bust or hips. Shit. Why am I thinking about Camila's body? Fucking pervert. This is why she shouldn't dress like that. It gets people's minds racing.
I still had a drink for Camila in my hand. My eyes scanned the room for her and eventually spotted Matt, leading her towards the speakers and lights. It's probably best I give her some space but I really don't want to.
I placed down the cup and watched Katie play beer bong, trying to think of a nice way to say 'I'm breaking up with you, but we were never dating in the first place.'
Katie seemed tipsy as she came over to me, smiling a lot and almost falling over. "Hey you."
"Hey, you ok?"
"Peachy. Wanna dance?"
Without me answering she dragged me across the house to the speakers until I couldn't hear myself think.
She tossed herself around, swaying and flicking as I bobbed awkwardly next to her. Parties aren't easy when you're sober.
"Dance, silly."
She stretched her hands up my chest and stared up at me, slipping her hands into my hair.
Her eyes closed and she stepped closer, leaning in to kiss me.
"Katie."
"What?"
"I'm really sorry, but I can't do this."
"Do what?"
"This." I gestured in between us.
"Just because Mila's home doesn't mean you can't have fun."
"It's got nothing to do with Cam-"
"Ugh, yes it does." She rolled her eyes. "You've been looking for her all night, I don't think you've looked at me once." She grabbed me and spun us one-hundred-and-eighty degrees. "There she is." She gestured behind her. "Everyone knows you're in love with her-"
"Katie what? No-"
"I don't blame you, look at her, she's perfect. I think I'm in love with her too. Just stop fooling yourself, please." He voice dragged drunkenly. "You can spend all summer with me but you can't ignore it forever. You love her. You better do it quick though, Matt has a tight grip on her ass."
Her words began slurring so much they weren't understandable but she carried on swaying to the music and closed her eyes.
Guilt over took me for using Katie but she's wrong. She's just drunk.
I got lost in my thoughts but was woken up by her pressing into my chest. "Katie-"
She had passed out in my arms. "Shit."
I picked her up and carried her over to the kitchen, sitting her on the counter and getting her a glass of water. "Hey. Wake up, come on, Kay."
"What-?" She slowly opened her eyes and I pressed the glass to her lips, forcing her to drink.
"Oh hey, Theo."
"Hey. You alright?"
"Peachy."
She slurred for a minute and carried on drinking. "Thanks, wanna dance?"
"I think you need to sit down for a minute."
I helped her off her feet and we went to the sofas where the football team and a few drunk girls were playing kiss and blow.
"Theodore! You came man!" Joey raised his joint to greet me as we sat down. Smoke surrounded his bleached blonde hair and he looked like a high nut job.
"Hey Matt!" He shouted to the dance floor. "Sunshine, go get Matt." He pat one of the blonde girls beside him. She hurried off and seconds later Matt and Camila were following her to the seating area. Cam seemed slightly drunk, smiling and giggling as she sat down a few seats away from me.
She glanced in my direction and I raised my eyebrows sharply to see if she was ok. She gave me a nod and gestured towards the half asleep Katie beside me. I shook my head and made a drink gesture with my hand.
"Camila Young, haven't seen you for a while." Joey interrupted, smirking as he clearly checked her out. She gave him and awkward smile and eased into Matt's side as he snaked an arm around her. "You playing?"
"Sure, what are we doing?"
"Truth, dare or drink."
I never liked party games, especially when I'm sober, I feel like I'm thirteen or thirty, no in-between. Joey always went out of his way to get me to drink, or smoke, or get a girl.
"Truth or dare, La-La?"
"Truth."
"Are you a virgin?"
Fuck off man.
One thing I like about Camila is that she doesn't give in to peer pressure, she won't give her innocence away just because everyone else does, she hasn't even had her first kiss yet. I'm the only one that knows that though. Everyone presumes with a face like her's she has, but she hasn't.
A face like what Theo? Fuck what's going on with you? Did I really miss her that much?
She giggled softly and reached down for the bottle of vodka on the table, holding it up to him before taking a large gulp of it.
"Interesting." He took another inhale of his joint before offering it to me.
"I'm good, thanks."
He scoffed and placed it in between his lips as the game continued.
Two girls kissed, ones half naked, David just downed half the bottle of vodka, and Katie has finally come back to reality. She must have drank a lot early because it takes something strong to sleep through the noise.
"Matt, spin the bottle, seven minutes."
He picked up an empty beer bottle and spun it on the small coffee table in front of us.
The bottle span at least 5 times before slowing down, the neck ending in between him and Cam.
"Ooh, you got lucky mate." He winked at Matt who was giving an awkward smirk to Camila.
She gave him nod and agreed to go with him. They both stood up and began walking towards the stairs.
Shit, I knew I shouldn't have brought her.
"Matt." I called for him before he reached the stairs. We've been some-what friends this summer again after working together and I don't want to change that, but if he puts a finger on Camila he's done.
"Yeah?"
"She's drunk." I gave him a stern look in hope that I'd scare him into leaving her alone.
"I wouldn't even consider it."
They both disappeared and I started counting down the seconds in my head.
What are they doing right now? Has he kissed her? Is he touching her? Is she ok? She's too drunk to be in a room with a boy, alone. I should go check on her. Is time not up yet?
I shouldn't have brought her. I barely recognise her tonight.
"Kiss the hottest person in the circle." One of the girls sniggered.
I was snapped out of my thoughts when Katie's hand my met thigh. Oh shit.
She crept up so she could meet me, leaning forward to lock our lips together. Yeah we've had fun this summer, but I just called it off like twenty minutes ago, and now she was kissing me again.
I know I can't avoid it so I closed my eyes and relaxed into it. I heard a few comments but I didn't pull away, half because I knew they'd judge me and half because my thoughts were clouded with Camila.
"I think that's enough, yeah?" Joey broke it up.
I pulled away slightly and soon noticed that Cami and Matt were making their way into the room again. She's still dressed, her lipstick isn't smeared and there isn't a hair out of place, which is a good sign.
"Do you remember our conversation on the dance floor?" I whispered to Katie when everyone's eyes left us.
"Most of it."
"Ok..?"
I turned to Camila to see if she was ok, but she was too caught up in whatever Matt was whispering in her ear to even look in my direction.
"I'm temporary Theo, but she isn't. So go tell Matt to get his hands off her thigh and take her home."
"What?"
"You heard me."
Fuck. Why did we come here?
