“All I wanna say is that
They don't really care about us.”
---
"Lupus," I whispered, realizing it was the name of my wolf mate.
He howled in approval and started moving his head against my stroking hand. I smiled, cupped his snout with both of my hands and brought his face near mine.
Lupus is a beautiful wolf. Probably the most beautiful wolf I have met in my life. His fur was rich and soft at touch. He was a pure black wolf. The only of cream-white he had was on his left ear— which was honestly adorable.
It was like a little wolf- birthmark.
As I said, he was tall. A bit taller than me. And absolutely huge. So much so, it made me feel a bit intimidated. I wondered how my wolf would like life... I am sure I'd be much smaller because I am a lower rank than him.
His greyish blue eyes sparkled in the moonlight and it was hard not to get lost in them. They were so icy. It was like going on a holiday to Alaska and skiing in snow. It was refreshing, and at the same time, enthralling.
It was dark by now. But not dark enough for me to not able to see him. He leaned into my touch and I happily welcomed him. I pressed my forehead against his and ran my fingers through his fur.
Atleast one of my mate loves me.
I sat down on the ground and he happily laid his head on my lap. I chuckled at how adorable he looked with his huge form slumped on the ground and he started face snuggling his snout in my tummy.
"Stop!" I giggled. When he tickled my stomach with his snout. He gave me a wolfish grin— which I had no idea existed and snuggled further in my lap.
I sighed in content and scratched the fur behind his ear. He shivered at my touch and smiled.
I really smiled.
After such a long time...
His ear— I discovered was his sweet spot and he was super sensitive there.
After sometime when my legs felt sore, I urged him to get up so we could take a walk around the forest. He happily complied and got up on his fours.
I got up too and was ready to walk futhur into the woods when a nudge on my leg stopped me. I turned around to see that he was bending with this front half down and he was nudging my leg for some reason.

At first I frowned, wondering what he wanted. But realization dawned me and I realized that he wanted me to sit on him for a ride.
I quickly shook my head and refused. He whined and looked at me with puppy eyes.
Wow. This wolf can grin and make gooey puppy eyes.
Fantastic.
I sighed and decided to just comply with him. Afterall, it can't be that bad right? I have never rode on a wolf before and honestly, it scares me a bit.
What if he runs too fast and I am thrown off?
Don't be silly. He's your mate. AND he loves you. He won't hurt you. I told myself.
But then again, it's this exactly what I had thought with Chance?
•°•°•
I didn't want Lupus to suffer for what his human form did. Nor did I want him to hurt more. If he really loved me, then what all Chance did, must have hurt him too.
I didn't want Lupus to hurt more. I cared about him despite being scared and cautious.
Lupus and Chance are practically the same. But at the same time— so tragically different.
I raised a leg and hopped on his back, with my legs on either side of his body. I adjusted myself, till I was comfortable and patted him softly to indicate that he could get up now.
He waited for another few seconds, till I was ready and I wrapped my arms around his neck.
Lupus got up on his fours and let out a huge howl before taking off.
"Woah!" Was the only word that left my throat and I clung to him like my life depended on it.
Apparently, it did.
He was fast— I would give him that. And if this is his "low-speed"—so that I don't fall off— then I wondered how it would be without me on his back.
We rushed past trees and branches in such a jiffy that they seemed blur. They were insignificant in this moment.
All that mattered was me and him.
I didn't know where we were, or where we were going. Because that didn't matter when I was with him.
Soon, I got accustomed to it and started enjoying the speed.
I looked up to see the moon was directly in front of us. It was covered with dark clouds- yet it looked beautiful.
Just like our lives. Our life is beautiful. Many- a- times, it might get surrounded by clouds of struggle and misery. It might seem like it won't be bright again. But remember, those clouds are temporary.

Don't lose hope. You are the moon. You have to shine every night.
Lupus' speed decreased after a while, till he was just walking. I rested my head on his back and sighed in content. His fur was soft against my cheeks and sleeping on him was better than sleeping on the most expressive mattress on earth.
Lupus suddenly came to a stop and I furrowed my eyebrows on confusion. I looked up to see what it was all about to notice that we were near a lake.
My lips parted in confusion and I opened my mouth to question him but he bent down again— as a cue for him to get off.
I obliged and got off his back. My legs touched the ground and I stumbled. He came near to me in a lightning speed and supported my body against his.
My body was still shaking from the aftermath of that ride.
"Thank you," I whispered, and looked at the scene in front of me.
"You brought me to a lake?" I asked him in a soft whispered and he howled in affirmation.
I walked to the edge of the lake and looked into the water. It was clear.
This lake looked untouched. Unaffected by human influence and totally pure.
I smiled at my reflection in the water and it widened when a wolf appeared in it too.
From the corner of my eyes, I noticed that he had a faint smile on his face.
I looked down at the glistening water of the lake and a happy smile took over my face.
He nudged the water with his snout and a wave created in the lake. It reflected beautiful in the moonlight and that lake— coupled with the pine trees around was a mesmerizing sight.
I wondered if I had ever seen something so serene yet beautiful.
He laid down on his stomach with his head between his paws and I sat down, folded my jeans, and immersed my legs in the cold water.
We sat like there for what felt like hours. No one said a words. He didn't say because he couldn't, and I didn't— because I didn't need to.
It was silent. Both of us were lost deep in our thoughts.
Not a word of comfort or love exchanged— yet I felt the most loved and safe I had in a while.
Oh how I wish you were like your wolf.
<><><>
"Yeah mom?" I asked, sleepily. I yawned and rubbed my eyes to get rid of the sleepiness as I had to go to school.
Last night, after out little trip to the lake, Lupus walked me back home. He didn't turn back into chance and I was glad because it had been a good evening and I didn't want to ruin it with another fight.
Mom woke me up today- before the alarm- and asked me to, I quote, "get your lazy ass off you bed and meet me downstairs for breakfast. I need to talk to you."
And just accept it. No matter how big of a thug life you are living— no matter how high of a stud you think are— when your mom plays the "I need to talk card" you get scared.
Like, shitting your pants scared.
But it was too early to care about this. And nothing in the world could be important enough to disturb my first.
Sleep is graciously holy and most important. What is so hard to understand, mom?
"Sit down." She said and I grunted, lazily seating myself in the dinner table.
She placed a plate in front of me and my eyebrows shot up.
Bacon and eggs? BACON AND EGGS?
MY FAVOURITE BREAKFAST HOLY SHIT!
I squealed in happiness and jumped up to kiss her on the cheek. I sat down and hungrily began to wolf down the contents of my plate.
Suddenly when I was on my 3rd strip of bacon, a realization dawned me and looked up with narrow eyes.
Mom never cooked bacon and eggs until it is a special occasion.
I looked up to see Mom standing there with an innocent look and puppy eyes.
Uh oh.
"No mom," I shook my head. "You can't bribe me with food this time." I told her, putting my fork down.
"But Oli—" she whined— my mom literally whined—placing the fork back in my plate.
I narrowed my eyes at the fork but kept eating because- FOOD IS GRACIOUS AND FOOD DID NOTHING WRONG. FOOD CAN'T DO ANYTHING WRONG, IT'S HOLY.
She smiled triumphantly and a spark ignited behind her eyes. Uh oh.
I wonder what she wants me to do this time.

Twisted Skies
After his master's death, Thurain leaves his rural home behind and travels to Heliana, the cramped city founded on the scientific progress of cultivation. Under a fake name, he aims to enter the Elemental Path Sect, the place of his master's death, to find both his killers, and closure. However, surrounded by the strange and horrible wonders of Heliana and its mixture of heroes and villains, his master's death is not the only murder he may have to solve. --- First attempt at a xianxia novel from me. To shake things up from the usual formula, the setting is more steam-punk than you might expect, and there are elements of murder mystery mixed in with the standard formula (though I'm not entirely sure yet how far to go with it.) I wrote this a while ago for NaNoWriMo, only posting it now for various reasons. Enjoy. Also, cover is highly temporary. I'll probably replace it with something nicer eventually.

Summoning America
Entirely cut off from Earth, the United States finds itself in a scientific impossibility: the entire country, including the continental landmass and separated states and territories, was transported to another world. Unlike Earth, this new planet boasts phenomena unknown to science. Magic reigns supreme in this new region of the universe, bolstered by the natives' own scientific progression. Monsters roam wastelands and dungeons, subsisting off unfortunate travelers, local fauna, and sometimes even entire towns! Ambassador Samuel Anders is tasked with contacting the various nations and entities of this new world. Despite his best attempts at diplomacy, the arrogance and hostility of the natives prove to be an unnavigable barrier. War is the only alternative. Eventually, fears surface regarding an ancient evil: the Ravernal Empire. How will the United States handle the threats of this new neighborhood? What magical wonders will its adventurous citizens find? This Summoning Japan inspired work will follow the United States as it is summoned to a New World. The story will begin with the United States’ initial encounter with the Rodenius continent. Although starting similarly to the original story, Summoning America will begin to diverge greatly as the war against the Lourian Kingdom comes to an end. For the context of this work, I expect that you have already familiarized yourself with the original piece, “Summoning Japan” also known as “Nihonkoku Shoukan”.
