《Submission》Chapter 3

Lorelei returned to the nursing station after hanging antibiotics for a patient. Her phone vibrated and she took it out of her pocket. It was a notification from the dating app that she had a message from Jesse. She raised a brow, unsure why anyone would be voluntarily awake at this time, and opened the app.
She looked at the profile picture to see it was the sex toys. She had been so focused on the pictures that she did not bother to look at the name. She could feel the heat rushing up to her cheeks.
"Why are you smiling like an idiot?" Molly asked.
Lorelei turned her phone and showed Molly the message. Molly ripped the phone out of her hands. She turned and started typing. Lorelei's heart pounded as she tried to pull the phone away, but Molly was blocking her with her back.
"Give me my phone back," Lorelei said. She struggled to keep her voice down and not to wake any of her patients.
Molly smirked as she finished typing. She passed the phone back to Lorelei. Her eyes went wide in horror when she saw what Molly had written.
"Molly, how could you write that?" Lorelei asked.
"What?" she asked. "Just unmatch with him if you are uncomfortable with it."
Lorelei bit down on her lip. She thought about blocking his profile, but her intrigue overtook her mind. She had not seen something as bold as Jesse's profile before. She wanted to learn what each of those toys was, and even more, she wanted to know what they felt like. If she blocked him, she knew that she would regret it.
Her phone vibrated in her hand. She looked down to see that she had another message from Jesse.
Lorelei's chest tightened as she read the message. She never labelled herself as submissive, but she knew that she had the desire deep down.

"What does it say?" Molly asked.
She reached for the phone, but Lorelei held it up in the air and out of her reach. She was thankful for the four inches of height she had on Molly. She did not need Molly writing any more messages on her behalf.
Lorelei's eyes darted around the nursing station. The two other nurses they were working with, Benson and Mona, were watching them. Benson had his eyebrows raised and Mona was chuckling as she saw them fight. The four of them worked almost every shift together, so they were used to Lorelei and Molly's bickering.
"What is it this time?" Mona asked.
"Lorelei is being a buzz-kill," Molly said.
"Molly is invading my privacy," Lorelei said.
Molly scoffed and rolled her eyes. She crossed her arms over her chest and tapped her foot. Lorelei held the phone to her chest, and it vibrated again. She peeked at the screen.
"Tell me what it says," Molly said. "I want to help."
"You're not helping," Lorelei said.
"I am the one that told you to download that stupid app," she said. "Now, let me see."
She sat down on her chair and wheeled herself to the corner of the nursing station. She trusted Molly with her life, but she did not want her to read her messages. She was afraid that she was about to divulge information that she was afraid to admit.
Lorelei bit down hard on her lip as she watched the three little dots beside his profile picture bounce. He was typing a message.
The only reason that Lorelei did not attempt to enter the BDSM scene was that she had no clue what she was doing. She didn't want to look foolish. If she had someone to show her the ropes, she would feel less ridiculous. If she embarrassed himself, it would only be in front of one person.

The dots appeared right away and Lorelei held onto her breath.
Those two words made Lorelei melt. Heat pooled between her legs. She imagined him saying those words in her ear with a deep voice.
"What are you doing over there?" Benson asked.
Lorelei looked up from her phone and blushed a deep red when she saw them watching her. Molly tried covering her mouth to hide her smirk. Benson wheeled himself forward next to Molly. Mona was typing on her computer. She looked like she was not paying attention, but Lorelei knew that she was listening.
"She texting a boy," Molly said.
"A boy?" Benson asked. His smile wavered for a moment. "What kind of boy?"
"A kink-" Molly started.
"Molly!" Lorelei cut him off.
Molly rolled her head back and laughed. Lorelei's phone vibrated and she swiped her thumb across the screen.
Lorelei furrowed her brows. It wasn't a question that she was expecting.
She looked up to see that Molly was no longer paying attention to her and was typing on her computer. Lorelei wheeled herself back to the desk. She looked down at her phone.
Lorelei's smile did not falter. She would be able to talk to Jesse throughout her shift. She did not know what to say, so she was glad that she saw the three little dots.
"You know, you haven't stopped smiling at your phone," Molly said. "Are you still talking to that fetish guy?"
Lorelei chewed on her bottom lip. Her eyes darted over to Benson and Mona. Molly spoke softly, so neither of them heard. Fear sat heavy in Lorelei's gut that her co-workers would know her secret. Molly pressed her lips into a smile when she saw Lorelei looking at their coworkers.
"Why are you embarrassed?" she asked in a whisper. She held out her hand. "Let me see your phone."
Lorelei scrolled through their messages. There was nothing in it that she would not want Molly to see so she passed the phone. Molly held the phone close to her face, always denying that she needs glasses, and read Jesse's messages.
"He seems nice," she said. "You could have a lot of fun with him."
"He could be some forty-year-old overweight man living in his mother's basement," Lorelei said.
"His profile says he's thirty."
Lorelei ripped the phone out of Molly's hands. She clicked the profile picture and looked at the toys once again. She zoomed in on one of the toys, and she could not recognize what it was. She once brought home a vibrator and Matthew threw a fit, so she never tried any toys since.
She could not even believe that she was having this conversation.
Someone was willing to show her the world of BDSM? The thought had Lorelei growing flush. She looked over at Molly to see her typing. Lorelei tapped her shoulder and she turned. Lorelei did not say anything and passed her phone over to Molly. Molly's eyes grew wide when she read it.
"Please, tell me you are going to say yes," Molly said.
"I think I'm going to," she said.
Her hands shook as she typed. She knew that she was acting irrationally. She blamed it on having a night shift foggy brain. In the morning, she would block Jesse.
A high-pitched beep came from one of Lorelei's patient's room. She put her phone down and rushed into the room. Her patient's blood pressure was dropping dangerously low as his heart rate increased. Lorelei's heart pounded and she forgot about Jesse as she took care of her crashing patient.
