"Zoeeee, my girlll. How's it goin'?" he slurred out stumbling a little but regaining his balance and chuckling.
"What on earth are you doing here?" I exclaimed too shocked to move or do anything else.
"I just wanted to see my favorite girl." He said with a goofy grin as water dripped from his hair down his face.
I sighed before panicking a little.
"Zack, get in here. It's freezing out." I ushered him in. He stumbled a little and walked in as I shut and locked the door. I spun around to see him staring off into space like he was thinking hard.
"Stay here, I'll go grab you a towel." I said. He smiled at me before I ran up the stairs and grabbed a big fluffy towel out of the linen closet that was right by my room. I turned around to see Zack halfway up the stairs. I rushed forward and grabbed his arm, so he wouldn't fall backwards.
"I thought I told you to stay downstairs." I told him as I half pulled him up so he wouldn't fall down and break his neck or something.
"I'm sorry, I missed you." He pouted as I pulled him over into my room and into my connected bathroom. I guided him in front of the toilet and pushed him back a little.
"Sit." He did as I said and sat down as I unfolded the towel and stepped forward to start drying his hair. He let out what sounded like a giggle as his head lolled to the side and I pushed it back up. My lips turned up, I didn't think the day would ever come that I heard Zack, the tough scary looking bad ass giggle. All of a sudden, he seemed to get really sad.
"Aren't you mad at me? I'm mad at me." he asked looking down at his hands lying limp in his lap.
"Why would I be mad at you?" I asked momentarily forgetting about what he had said the day before.
"Because I'm a jerk." He said sadly. I lifted his head up so I could look at his face.
"You're not a jerk Zack." I said softening as his lower lip poked out.
"I swear I didn't mean it, you're just the only one that seemed like you cared. Well other than my friends but they don't count." He said licking his lips.
"Why don't they count?" I asked ignoring the first part of his comment.
"I don't know." He laughed, his head rolling over to the side again.
"I really didn't mean it Zo. I wish you would stare at me all day. You haven't stolen my friends, if anything you brought us closer together. I wish I could hang out with you all the time, but I can't because you're busy..." he trailed off pouting. "I'm still not really okay with your friend though, she's rude to you, you deserve better but I'm definitely okay with you. Like really definitely okay with you." He said looking up to me with wide yet sad eyes. I gave him a small smile and brushed his damp hair out of his face.

"I know." Is all I said gazing at his face that was covered in a few day-old scruff. He leaned forwards and wrapped his hands around my waist and leaned his head on my stomach. I froze for a second but hugged him back the best I could and ran my hand through his hair. He looked up to me while keeping his arms wrapped around me.
"You're very pretty." He mumbled looking over my face. I blushed before shaking my head a little bit.
"Come on Zack, we have to dry you off before you get sick." I said prying him away. He huffed but stood up, swaying a little. I wrapped my arm around his waist, keeping him steady until he stopped swaying.
"How much did you drink?" I asked leading him out of the bathroom.
"I don't know, I don't think I just drank though." He said swaying again.
"What?" I asked looking at him with wide eyes.
"Cocaine man, it does stuff to you." He said laughing.
"What?! Did you... what did..?" I stuttered but he busted out laughing, almost falling over as he tripped over his own feet.
"Just kidding, but I scared youuu." he said in a sing song way as he reached up and booped my nose, making me crinkle it up. I scowled at him and led him over to my bed.
"Nah, I wouldn't do that. Drugs are bad." He said pulling me closer to him.
"You smoked weed at school once." I said shifting his weight a little.
"Yeah, that's different though." He said laughing at himself.
"You can't keep those clothes on or else you'll get sick." I sighed looking at him and ignoring his previous sentence. He lazily smirked at me with tired hooded eyes.
"If you wanted me to take my clothes off you could have just said." He chuckled.
"No, not like that, but you do need to... er..." I trailed off as my cheeks flamed up.
"I can see if I can find you some other clothes." I said trying to step away from him but stepping right back as he swayed dangerously.
"No, its fine Zo, I sleep in my boxers anyways." He said. I was about to respond but before I could, He sneezed, making him fall straight to the ground, and me coming with him. I landed half on top of him with a thud.
"Woopsies." He laughed as his head rolled back and he tried to sit up. I sighed before grabbing the bottom of his shirt, not wanting him to get sick from his freezing sopping wet clothes still clinging to his body.
"Come on Zack." I said as I lifted his shirt up. He put his arms up like a little kid as I pulled it off him. He just laughed at seemingly nothing as I tossed his shirt off to the side. I grabbed his hands and pulled him back up to his feet.
"Up you go." I said as he got back up. He reached down to his belt to undo it, so I looked away and over to the door.

"I'm going to go get you some water, I'll be back in a minute." I said slipping out the door and doing just that. Once I made it back into the room, he was sitting on the edge of my bed in just his boxers. I walked over to him and handed him the water.
"Drink up." I said and he listened. He drank half of the water before bringing it back down from his lips. He looked over to me and looked like he was about to say something but the water in his hand slipped and started falling to the floor. I lunged forward to try and catch it but couldn't as I hit the ground and spilled. Zack looked up to me with watery eyes.
"I'm sorry Zoe!" he exclaimed looking like he was about to cry. I looked at him panicking and trying to find something to say to get him to stop looking so sad. It sent pangs through my chest as he looked at me like a small child about to be scolded.
"It's alright, it's just water. It will dry." I said stepping forwards. He grabbed my waist and pulled me forward and buried his head in my neck this time since my bed was higher up.
"Thanks Zoe you're the best." He slurred and continued to hug me. I just smiled at him.
"You remind me of her sometimes." He mumbled into my neck making my brows furrow.
"I miss her Zoe." He said and leaned back looking like he was going to cry again.
"Who?" I asked reaching forwards to hold his face in my hands. More pangs zipped through my chest.
"My mom." He said as a tear slipped down his cheek. I wiped away the tear and hugged him closer to me.
"Shhhh, it's okay Zack." I whispered as I felt his hot tears touch my shoulder where his head was laying. We just sat there for a minute, him having his arms wrapped around my waist, and me cradling his head trying to calm him down, before he pulled back and looked at me. I wiped away the moisture on his face with my thumbs and gave him a small smile.
"Are you okay?" I asked when he looked like he wasn't going to cry anymore. He nodded and let out a yawn.
"We should get you to bed." I said trying to step back but he wouldn't let me.
"Hey Zoe?" he asked.
"Hm?" I mumbled as I reached over to my bed and pulled the covers back for him.
"So, you're not mad at me?" he asked adorably. I almost let out an aw but held it in.
"No, I'm not mad at you Zack." I said and stepped back to scoop up his clothes.
"Why don't you get into bed and I'll be right back, I need to put your clothes in the dryer." I said as he looked at me dazed.
"Okay Zo, Have fun." He said sleepily. I laughed a little at him and slipped out to go put his clothes in the dryer for the morning. I made my way back upstairs and slipped into my room. I expected to see him already passed out, but he was still sitting in the spot that I left him it. I sighed as he looked up to me like a little puppy.
"Come on Zack, you need to get to sleep." I said as I walked over and peeled back the covers more.
"Okay." He said and scooted over so he could slip his legs under the blankets.
"I'll be down on the couch. If you need anything, just shout." I said bringing the blankets up to his chest.
"Can't you sleep in here?" he asked reaching out and grabbing my hand.
"Uhhh, I don't know if that's a good idea..." I trailed off. I didn't know how he was going to be in the morning once he woke up and I didn't want him to be freaked out.
"Please Zoe? If you don't I won't ever go to sleep, I'll sit up singing the entire night." He said trying to sit back up.
"No, no, uhhh... fine." I said as I pushed on his chest and he kept struggling to sit up. As soon as I said fine, he flopped back down onto the bed and smiled at me. I sighed and walked around to the other side of the bed and pulled back the covers.
"Hey Zoe?" he asked again, and I sighed.
"Yes Zack?"
"You should wear that more often." He said laughing a little at the end. I looked down and blushed when I remembered I had very short shorts and a tight tank top without a bra on this entire time.
"Hey Zack?" I asked with my face still probably looking like a tomato. It was a good thing he probably couldn't see me since the only light we had was what was filtering through the window from the moon.
"Yes Zoe?"
"Shut up." I said as I crawled into bed and laid down, pulling the covers up.
"Okay." He said as he rolled over and pulled me next to him.
"Zaackk." I drew out his name.
"Shhhh. I'm not allowed to talk remember? Neither are you. Goodnight Zo." He mumbled, and I just sighed.
"Goodnight Zack." I said giving up and nuzzling into him a little more before drifting off to sleep a little while later while listening to his steady breathing, and for the first time in a very long time, I slept like a baby.
