《Arranged Love (Currently Being Edited)》Chapter 14 - Saying Goodbye

Paulo laughed. "Well to our parents I think that's exactly what we are right now, baby makers."
"Yeah," she agreed. "And not just to them. It seems like the rest of the world sees us that way too."
"Are you really surprised by that?" he asked. "I'm reminded constantly about the fact that we need to make male heirs right away."
"Yeah, me too," she sighed, releasing her elbows and letting her head fall back onto the bed, groaning and closing her eyes again.
He stood up and dropped his towel to the floor before crossing the room and getting some clothes out of his suitcase. Apparently he was completely comfortable being naked in front of her now.
She laid there watching him as he put on a casual suit and said, "I just hate people talking about me I guess."
"You've been dealing with that your whole life just like I have. I figured you'd be used to it by now," he said, turning his suitcase on its side and zipping it up. "Paparazzi is just part of being a royal."
"Yeah I know," she said with an exhale, looking up at the ceiling.
"You know, when my Dad first started trying to arrange our marriage I looked you up and there were all kinds of rumors floating around online that you were already engaged to Leonardo DiCaprio."
Eva laughed out loud and said, "I've never even talked to him before. That's hilarious."
"Exactly. These tabloids are always going to be around looking for something to talk about and if they don't find it they'll make something up. Don't even worry about them and what they say," he said, sitting down on the bed next to her to put on his shoes and she sat up beside him.
She nodded. "You're right. I need to stop caring about what they say. This is why I usually don't watch TV shows or read articles about myself."
"I don't either," he said. "Most of the bullshit they post isn't true anyway so all it does is piss me off."
"I've noticed that you cuss a lot. That surprises me. I didn't expect that from a prince."
"I only do it around people I'm comfortable with, like my friends and family, when no one else is within hearing distance. I would never do it during an interview or anything like that," he laughed. "My parents would kill me. "
She laughed and looked over into his hazel eyes as he sat there next to her on the bed and she felt her stomach tighten. They locked eyes and she glanced down at his lips and memories of how good it felt to kiss him last night went through her mind. She lifted her eyes and looked back up at his face.
He was so handsome and looking at him made her heart ache and she wanted him to lean in and kiss her so bad. She wanted him to rip her clothes off and make love to her, right here right now.

He broke eye contact and said, "We better get up and get going. We have places to be," as he stood up off the bed and slipped on a pair of dark sunglasses. She felt the sting of disappointment and she took a deep breath and exhaled it out, as she reluctantly stood up off the bed.
His pep talk made her feel a little better about the media pressure to have a baby but she still didn't know where she stood with him. Their time together last night seemed like a long distant memory and that sweet, sexy, playful Paulo was replaced with the serious, distant one again.
She got up and packed the rest of her things away in her suitcase and Paulo was standing there waiting, holding the door open for her.
She grabbed the suitcase handle and started rolling it out the door and down the hall, looking at the ground. When they got to the elevator she looked up and Paulo was looking forward with his jaw locked firmly.
The elevator dinged and she walked into it and they rode down to the bottom floor in silence where they met up with their security team.
She was feeling extremely confused about the feelings she was starting to have for him and how cold he was treating her now, like last night never happened, like it didn't mean anything to him. Maybe to him it was just sex. It made her wonder if she had done something wrong last night. It was her first time so she had no idea what she was doing.
The security team took their suitcases and escorted them outside to the limo.
Eva got in first, sitting in the seat along the back window. Paulo got in and sat next to her but there was a large gap between them. He sat there in silence looking at his phone as the limo pulled away and Eva could feel that he was keeping her at a distance for some reason. The longer they sat there in silence the sadder she felt. Any hope she had felt last night that they could eventually fall in love was starting to drift away.
Finally they pulled up in front of the castle and there were a few vehicles there waiting with a group of people. As they got closer she recognized that it was both royal families and her friend Astrid and Astrid's Mom and a large moving truck that was packed with all of Eva's belongings.
When she got out Astrid was the first one to greet her. She ran over and gave her a tight hug and started crying like a baby. That made Eva cry too.
"I'm gonna miss you so much," she sniffled. "You better call me every day."
"I will. I promise," Eva told her, wiping away a tear.
Next in line to say goodbye was Kristoff and he was crying too. He handed her a rock he had painted when he was little with what was supposed to be a portrait of her, but looked more like a stick figure witch. She laughed through her tears before giving him a hug and then she hugged her Mom and Dad tight and told them she loved them.

Her father, King Hans, shook Paulo's hand firmly and said, "Now listen Paulo. I know this is an arranged marriage that you didn't choose for yourself and you feel forced into it. I've been there. I was forced to marry this beautiful woman right next to me and I felt the same way at the time. If I could give you any advice it would be to try to love her as if you were the one that chose her because only then will you be able to have a happy life together like I've had. Looking back it was the best thing that ever happened to me and I wouldn't change it for the world."
Paulo gave him a weak smile and said, "Thank you for the advice. I'll do my best."
Eva climbed into the limo where King Ferdinand and Queen Victoria were already seated. The King was on his laptop typing away and the Queen was on a phone call with the travel coordinator discussing the arrangements for their honeymoon. Paulo climbed in and sat next to Eva and then his two sisters and Rosalie climbed in and sat at the other end of the limo closest to the driver.
They closed the door and the limo started driving away. Paulo stuck his Airpods in his ears, and turned on some music, laying his head back and closing his eyes, totally ignoring her. Eva exhaled deeply and stared out the window, wondering how long he was going to give her this silent treatment.
Queen Victoria got off of her phone call and she noticed how unhappy Eva looked. She took the pen she had been writing notes with and threw it at Paulo to get his attention and he lifted his head and took one of his Airpods out.
"What!?" he asked her.
"You're being extremely rude. Take those out of your ears and stop ignoring your wife. I raised you with better manners than that."
He grumbled, as he put his airpods back into their case and shoved them in his pocket. He looked over at Eva and folded his hands on his lap and asked in a very sarcastic tone, "So what would you like to talk about wife?"
Eva turned to look at him and then she looked over at the Queen who was patiently waiting to hear what she would say.
"I'm not sure ........... ummmm. Well, actually there is one thing I was wondering about. What is there to do around the castle in Spain? What will I be able to do to keep myself busy?"
The Prince thought about it for a second and said, "There's pretty much anything you can think of really. What kind of things do you usually do to keep yourself busy?"
"Well back home it was a little different. Most of my days there were very structured. I had strict lesson plans laid out for the entire year ahead of time so that my private tutors could plan their travel really far ahead."
"What kind of lessons did you take?" he asked.
"I had classes in English, French, Japanese, Chinese, Spanish, royal etiquette, horseback riding, painting, archery, sculpture, piano, ballet, ballroom dancing, giving speeches, self defense, war strategy, persuasion and negotiation, political studies, geography, and global finance."
Paulo actually looked impressed for a second. "Wow. It sounds like you were really busy."
"Well I didn't study all of those different things at the same time. The only classes that were year round were political studies and global finance. For the other ones we had an annual schedule with what to do each month. My parents took my education very seriously and wanted to make sure I was prepared to be a Queen one day."
Queen Victoria smiled at her and said, "I have no doubt that you're going to be an amazing Queen for Spain one day. So how many different languages do you speak then?"
"I speak six fluently, plus sign language. Learning languages was something I just had a natural talent for and my Mom recognized that and got me private tutors for several different languages when I was really young. It's so much easier to pick up new languages when you're young."
The King looked up from his computer that he had been typing away on and asked, "Did you say you speak both Japanese and Chinese?"
"Yes," she nodded.
"Well you know the trade deals we were talking about yesterday with China and Japan? Maybe you could join us on the call. Showing them that our princess and future Queen speaks their language will help us close the deal and be good for relations between our countries."
Hearing that made her smile. "Really? You would want me on the call?"
"Yes. I think you could be a real asset to the discussion."
"Thank you. I would love that," she smiled proudly. Her Dad had invited her into meetings with other countries pretty often but she thought that would be all over after she moved to Spain. She figured they wouldn't take her seriously or value her opinions like her Dad did but she was really glad she was wrong.
"Fantastic," King Ferdinand said with a smile. "Paulo is a talented negotiator too and he'll be there with us as well. I think you two will make quite the team."
She looked over at Paulo and he had his head turned away, looking out the window.
"Sure we will," she said quietly, her smile fading away as she looked down at her hands.
