《The Dragon King's Servant》Chapter Four: Trip to Terra

Lucian sat at his desk. A solid metal pen in his hand and an empty parchment paper in front of him. He stared at the blank page, the same way he had been for the last hour. His thoughts were clear and yet they were jumbled. He knew exactly what he wanted. However, finding what he wanted was an entirely different matter.

He had met several hundred women. All of which were gorgeous and nice. The issue was never with them but rather with their desires. He turned in his chair and glanced out the window. Out through the glass pane he saw the city. A massive city filled with well over five hundred thousand. Beyond that was another city surrounded by even more.

All of them were at his behest. His words carried weight. More weight than all the Mari in the world. However, his words could never make another betray their truest desires, nor would he ask that of them. What he desired...

"My lord?" A voice asked from beyond the doors of his study, interrupting his thinking.

"Come in Lynx." Lucian replied and turned to see the door open.

From the hall walked out a slender man wearing a long robe of white and grey. Lynx though, was no man, not by mortal terms. He had the brown furry face of a feline with long white whiskers. His furry paws had short fingers with retractable claws. His feet were covered by leather booties that allowed him better grip on the smooth stone floors.

"My lord. What was wrong with those lovely ladies." Lynx asked in a professional tone.

"Well if you find them so lovely, why don't you go after them?" Lucian smirked. Lynx did not reciprocate the expression.

"Because unlike you, my lord. I do not require a second person by my side."

"I don't know Lynx. You've been a bit grouchy lately."

"Hmph." Lynx scoffed, folding his fuzzy arms over his robed chest. "If I have been grouchy, which I most certainly have not, it is because I have been trying to couple you with every female within a hundred miles of the palace."

"Lynx?" Lucian asked, as he met his feline advisor's green eyes gaze. "What is it that you desire?"

Lynx's expression went slack for a moment before he scrunched up his nose and looked away.

"I don't fall for that my lord. Feline races have a natural resistance to mental intrusion. Now, explain to me what was wrong with those females?"

"Lynx? Nothing was wrong with them-"

"Then why did you-"

"Except that they had no desire to serve at my side."

Lynx pinched the bridge of his feline nose and sighed.

"Sir? This is no longer twenty-one-hundred-DD." He sighed in exasperation. "No one wants to do the job of servant. But there must be a second seat."

"Why must there be?" Lucian asked. "I am fine on my own."

"I don't make the rules sir." Lynx huffed. "The lady of the land does."

"She rules alone. Why can't I?"

"She is a unified being of immortality." Lynx pointed out, doing his best to withhold his annoyance.

"I'm immortal." Lucian gestured to himself.

"Its not the same My lord. If the lady of the land dies she will be reborn in another vessel after a decade or two. If you die you are gone. There is no coming back."

"That still doesn't really answer the question of-"

"Dammit Lucian!" Lynx snapped, baring his feline fangs in frustration.

Lucian lifted his eyebrows in surprise, never having seen his advisor lose his temper before. Lynx collected himself and sagged. Before he could say anything, Lucian placed a hand on his shoulder and smiled softly.

"I will find someone Lynx. But it won't be someone who is forced into a role they don't want. The woman at my side will be willing of the position."

"If you say so my lord." Lynx sighed and then his furry brows scrunched together as a thought came to his mind.

"My lord. The earthly plane opens tomorrow if I am not mistaken." He reached into the chest pocket of his robe pulling out a small flip book calender.

"Yes!" He slapped it shut, sliding it back into the inner pocket. "It has been two hundred years since the Terra plane has opened. Perhaps you might find someone there. They may not live long but it'll be a better than nothing."

"If I go to the Terra plane will that put you at ease?" Lucian asked.

"Extremely my lord."

"Then I shall go. You said it opens tomorrow?"

"Yes my lord and it will remain open until the twelfth." Lynx nodded.

"Just shy of six days. Perhaps I might meet someone." Lucian shrugged and stepped out into the hall. "Go take a cat nap Lynx, you look tired." He smirked.

Lynx glared and nearly offered a retort but Lucian walked off before the feline advisor could utter a single word. Lucian walked down the jade hallway and up a set of stairs that emptied out into a white marble hall. At the end of the hall was a pair of doors.

He pushed open the doors and on the other side was his private chambers. A large bed with a wide curtain that enclosed around the frame, sat in the center of the room. The dark black hard wood floors had a light coating of sheen keeping them glossy and smooth.

At the corners of his room were ten shelf high book cases. Each shelf was lined with books. He glanced at an open space where three books used to be. He sighed, lingering on the empty space before continuing. Across the room were wardrobes filled with robes, clothes and attire made for every occasion.

Pressed against the wall between the wardrobes was a large wooden chest. He turned the latch and pulled a pair of dials. The inner lock-bar clicked and the lid sprang open. Lucian stepped into the chest and instead of landing on hard wood, his whole leg vanished. The rest of his body followed as he descended a ladder.

Thirty steps downward he climbed until his foot reached solid ground. With a snap of his fingers, the room lit up. The room was more than just a room. It was the size of a dance hall. The walls were brick and the floor was made from perfectly laid cobblestone. On the walls were cuffs, metal bindings and restraints.

Scattered across the room were various tables, benches and mounted platforms. Across the room, upon the far wall, were tools hanging upon mounted hooks and racks. Each and every one had been of his own design and make. Lucian smiled as he took in the sight of his pleasure dungeon, hoping one day he would find a person willing to submit to his desires.
