《Married But Single》Chapter 17

Annabelle was surprised to see David in the master bedroom as she came into the room to retire for the night. He had gone straight upstairs when he returned from work a bit late that night murmuring that he wasn't hungry and she had thought that he went to the guest room where he had been sleeping these past days.

They still haven't had that 'talk' he had said they would have.

"Will you come to bed or will you just stand there and gape at me?" He drawled.

"Oh I - I thought you were a-asleep." She stuttered. "I'm just surprised to see you here."

"How many times do I have to remind you that this room is also mine as much as it is yours."

He said.

She crossed her arms over her chest.

"It's obvious. Except that you made it clear on the night of our wedding that you wouldn't be sleeping here."

He looked at her with an amused expression. "If you're saying all these just to get me to leave this room then it's not working."

Annabelle scoffed. "I wish that desire would be granted."

He smirked. "Unfortunately, you're stuck with me for tonight. Come."

She slowly went over to him. He looked very tired but was trying to keep his eyes open. She knew there was a huge contract the company was currently working on and David had been working his ass out this past week to execute that contract as soon as possible as well as successfully so they could move on to the next contracts.

He was indeed a very capable company president. It was a pity that he was only a temporary one for now until he had kept his own part of the contract by staying married to her for three years.

They had only been married for six months now.

She climbed onto the bed and he pulled her closer to him, then looked expectantly at her with drooping eyelids.

"Uh, a-about the other night with Dominic..."

"Shh," he hushed her softly. "I never want to see him near you like that again. And I never want to hear his name mentioned between us again. Can you do that for me?"

She nodded her head firmly. "Yes."

"Good." He said satisfactorily. "Come here."

She drew even closer to him and he kissed her forehead then involuntarily sighed in tiredness and softly laid his head on her chest with his arms around her waist.

She wrapped her arms around him and unobtrusively placed a kiss on his head as he fell asleep in her arms.

If anyone had told Annabelle that the David she had married would come to be the loving and romantic person he currently was, she would have argued strongly against it.

It was as if she was living a fairytale. David suddenly became her Prince Charming that she had wondered several times what had happened that had yielded such fruits in their relationship since the past three weeks.

He hadn't told her that he loved her or anything like that, but his actions and gestures towards her were ones that when she thought about them brought huge smiles on her face.

She was falling in love with him.

Lydia was still in the house as their mother was still not back from her trip. Annabelle had called and spoken to the woman on phone and she had grumpily said that she was there on business. She hadn't called Annabelle ever since they spoke but Annabelle was sure that she spoke with Lydia almost everyday, though she didn't know what they always talked about and she didn't care. She had her husband all to herself.

Dominic had bothered her on some occasions but on those occasions she either turned him down or ignored him.

She was finally happy.

But her happiness was short lived.

He was still in bed even after she finished getting ready for work the one morning which was a Friday morning and she guessed he was either not going to work that day or would be going in later on before noon.

He had told her the previous night that he had an appointment at 11am that morning so he probably might go over to the office when he's done with the meeting,

She woke him up with a kiss and he gave that signature sexy smile of his with his eyes closed then grabbed her arm and drew her down to him and she squealed.

"David! Let me go, I'm already dressed for work and I might run late if you don't let me go." She struggled halfheartedly, enjoying his arms around her and his lips on her neck.

"You are the boss's wife as well as the Vice President so you can go in whenever you want." He murmured against her neck.

"Funny," she scoffed. "When it's you that hurries me out of the house everyday screaming 'I don't want us to be late!'"

He chuckled. "I'm making a difference today." He said, his hands loosening the buttons of her shirt.

"David!" She facepalmed. "For earth's sake, we made love throughout last night till way past midnight."

"Well I want my wife again. Now." He flipped her unto her back and got above her pleasuring her until her excited laughs turned to moans.

**

She finally got to the office leaving him at home to finish getting set for his appointment.

The smile returned to her face for the umpteenth time even as she listened to a review from an executive.

"...in the documents madam."

She nodded as she tried to remember what the man had said last.

"The documents will be needed ma'am." The man said slowly trying to decipher her thoughts.

"Yes, I'll have it sent to your office."

**

She drove home to get the documents as she had kept them there for safety purposes. It was 1pm and David was still not in the office when she was leaving. She guessed he still wasn't done with his meeting.

She rushed into the house and into their bedroom to get the documents.

David had since fully moved into the master bedroom and they slept together every night and woke up to the wonderful sight of each other the next morning. The thought made her smile. Again.

She opened the safe where documents were kept and retrieved the ones she needed then sealed it back.

With the smile still on her face, she picked up one of her husband's shirt that he had carelessly flung on the bed probably in his haste to leave and returned it neatly in the wardrobe.

With the documents in her bag, she walked out of the room.

She decided to check on Lydia as she hadn't seen her when she was leaving for work that morning.

She must be in her room as she wasn't downstairs when she came in.

She walked over to her room and made to knock on the door but sharply halted, her ears at alert.

'...yes like that...harder D, harder...'

Shock coursed through her and she covered her mouth to stop the scream that had threatened to come out.

D?

She noticed the door was ajar then slowly opened it with a shaky hand and as her eyes adjusted slightly to the darkened room, her heart stopped and she wished she hadn't opened the door as she witnessed the heartbreaking and disgusting scene of her sister's naked back on top of her husband with his hands around her waist as she rode him, underneath the duvet.

💔💔💔

That's why he wasn't in the office up until now. That's why he had stayed back at home with the excuse that he had an appointment. An appointment with Lydia. Her younger sister. A girl that was supposed to be her blood.

Unable to take it anymore, she sharply stood up and walked out of her office and out of the building not minding those that greeted her as she walked past with unshed tears that blurred her vision.

She got into her car and drove off.

After she saw them, she had left the spot without them noticing and walked like a zombie out of the house and back to the office to deliver the documents.

It was 3pm and he wasn't even in the office and she couldn't concentrate as pain ate deep into her.

Why her? She mused as she sped towards the park. Her husband and her sister?

The held up tears finally flooded down her cheeks like a river and she wiped them away to clear her vision.

She screamed and hit the car steering giving no care to her safety as she sped away.

When she parked her car in front of the park and got out, she found a lonely spot and that was when she fell on her knees and released a loud heart wrenching scream while tears gushed down her cheeks.

Her nails scrapped the fine grass and her tears rained down the more as she cried her heart out.

These past weeks had only been a lie. She had thought she was living a fairytale life when it had all been too good to be true.

How could she have trusted her sister and even David.

She was a fool!

She stayed there for what seemed like hours crying and cursing her existence. Her phone had been ringing but she had refused to pick his call.

She lay spent and exhausted on the floor when manly arms lifted her and brought her to his chest. She slowly lifted her eyes to look up at him then she collapsed in his arms when she discovered it was Dominic.

Dominic, the only person that had always been there for her.
