《ZER》THIRTEEN

Zer nods once and climbs the stairs. Quickly I get up and get the plates and utensils, also a glass a water for us both I put half of whatever DAI instructed me to cook on his plate and less than half on mine, just in case he wants so more I'll have some extra for him.

When he comes back and sees everything is set I can see a nerve on his jaw ticking, I bite my lip so I won't smile.

"How was your day?" I say to open a conversation.

"It was busy."

"What does a High General entitled to do?"

He chews slowly, "That's classified information."

Ohh... interesting.

"Tell me whatever you can." I push him.

"Why are you interested?" he eyes me suspiciously.

"Because, husband, you interest me," I say simply.

He coughs a bit and reaching for his water. "You need to warn me before saying things like that."

"But you know I will always say things like that." I sweetly say to him.

"Well, I make sure all planets under Universe United jurisdiction are safe and prosper. I set a training program for the army, make sure the Exile Galaxy is under the order and make sure Relish goes around."

"I only understand half of that..." I tell him truthfully. "What is the Exile Galaxy?"

"It's where we put all criminals."

Ah... like prison? "And Relish?"

"Relish is the name of one of a kind star in galaxy D3 445. A lot of other races rely on its power to sustain their existence."

"Wow... that sounds amazing. What color is the star?"

"Black."

I raise my eyebrows, "Black? Like... Black fire?"

"No, Relish's fire has extinguished for hundreds of millions of lightning years ago."

"Wait, so it's a dead star?"

"Well, technically, yes. But even after the fire is gone, there are some... unexplainable energy radiating from it."

"Wait, you said you need to make sure the dead star—"

"Relish, any insult to Relish is an offense."

Fine. "Relish, you said it's fire is gone, then how does it still there? Why doesn't it... explode? Or crushed with another planet?"

"That's a question every scientist ask, Kate. Relish still turning even without fire, it still holds a certain degree of gravity. No living thing can get closer than a range of distance, but it gives powerful energy to whoever needs it."

"That's interesting."

"Very, and dangerous. Some races always try to dominate the energy, so the Universe United put some law to whoever wishes to use it." I look at him and smile. My husband is a very important person. I don't know him well, but I know the degree his people, and another race trust in him, and it's breathtaking. "Why are you smiling?" He asks me.

"I'm proud of you."

His fork stops halfway to his mouth. For a few seconds, he looks at me, looking in my eyes for any sign of lies. Oh well, he won't find any, I genuinely proud of him.

"Thank you." He says finally.

"DAI, what time is it?"

Now it is fifteen minutes past midnight.

Huh, I cannot sleep. I cannot say I enjoy our dinner, it was too sour for my taste, but Zer seemed to like it so I tried to finish the food on my plate, good that I didn't pile it up. Most of all, I cannot help but feel how... foreign my bedroom is.

I let out a sigh. I prefer Zer's bed. The bed sheet is worn and very soft and smells nice.

Screw it!

I throw open my comforter and stand up. He is my husband, if I need him to fall asleep, I will use him to sleep. I'm his wife and I have all the right to be with him.

I open my door and walk straight to his room. I open his door slowly, his room is dark, but not pitch black, and the glow from outside illuminates the room slightly. I walk slowly to his bed, trying to look at him sleep—

"What's wrong?"

I cringe I thought he's sleeping. "I can't sleep. Can I sleep here?"

He sits up and a very, very attractive torso comes to view, filled with battle scars, but very attractive nonetheless.

"Do you want to switch room?" he asks.

"No," I say as I climb the bed. "I'd like to share the bed with you." He inhales sharply. I pay him no mind, sooner or late he'll get used to my bluntness. "Lay down husband, I'm tired." I say as I grab his arm and pull him to bed.

"Good night Zer," I say as I snuggle to his massive arm. I can faintly hear him wishing me good night.

Hot.

Ugh... my neck. I lift my head to fix my head position. Did Zer move me to my room last night? Why my pillow is very uncomf—

"Are you awake?" My husband's deep voice swings my eyelids open.

I see dark skin. I see a wide, hard, smooth dark skin with scars. I peek up and see him looking down at me. I'm laying on my stomach, half of my body on him, I give a small sheepish smile, okay, maybe not that sheepish. "Good morning, Zer. You make a very uncomfortable pillow." I try to make the situation less awkward.

He chuckles. "And you move a lot when you sleep, Kate."

I push myself up and see the sun is rising already. "What time is it?"

Now is; 8hours 39minutes 14seconds.

I jump out of bed. "You're late for work!" I say in horror. "I'm sorry! You should have waked me up!" I run downstairs to make him his cofftea, but instead of taking a shower, he follows me downstairs.

"Today is a holiday, Kate." He explains to me.

I let out an exaggerating sigh. "Thank God! I thought I made you late for work."

"You can keep me from working if that's what you wish, Kate. Tzarian put females above everything."

"Oh? Are they?"

"We certainly are."

I hand him his mug and he thanks me.

"What kind of holiday is today?" I ask him.

"We have nine days a week and every third day is a day off." He explains.

"And what day is today?"

"Today is the 6th day. Which reminds me, do you want to go to the city? We can go buy some clothes and groceries, and if you need anything else."

I beam at his suggestion, "Yes please!" I came here with only four sets of clothes and two pairs of shoes. I really need to go shopping.

"The shopping center will open at 11 o'clock. We can have an early lunch and we can go."

"Why don't we have lunch outside?" I suggest.

He frowns, "Like picnic?" He asks,

"No, like eating in a restaurant."

"The last word doesn't translate. What does that mean?"

My eyes rounded. "You don't have a restaurant in Tzar?" I ask him in disbelieve.

"Again, the word doesn't translate."

"Don't you have a... place, where other people cooking and serve food for you?"

He looks at me funny, "Each household have their own personalized DAI, we don't need anybody else to cook and serve food for us." Well, if he puts it that way I guess it makes sense.

"Hm... okay, but I guess a picnic isn't a bad idea."

Zer only nods.
