《In Another World with Doraemon's 4D Pocket》Chapter 5 - Grand Arrival

After picking up the camping capsule and the other mini-exploration drones he left behind, Cary flew back to where the men were waiting. He had thought of using the Anywhere Door to teleport himself straight to those villagers, but even him who was not that bright of a person, albeit a creative one, was not so reckless now that he would show the full extent of his abilities. He had noticed the reactions of those men; their faces full of awe and amazement as if a child looking at something they had never seen before with curiosity. His gadgets had even made them think straight away that he was from the nobility.
That means magic in this world must only belong to the select few or the rich and powerful. Cary thought. I can use their misconception that I am a noble to gain information about this world and gain preferential treatment for a while, even help with their circumstances, but I must see what kind of people they are first.
I don't know what miracles are often seen in this world. I guess I'll be a little careful about which gadget I show to people for now. He noted in his subconscious.
It took a while to fly back to the men's spot with the Take-copter again. He found that they were all sitting and tending to their wounds and injuries from the battles just before. However, one, in particular, stood out to Cary. He must have been way in the back, hidden from all the others before; that's why Cary did not see him. This young man who looked even younger than the twenty-five years old Cary was punctured by a knight's sword. Cary who had no medical experience could tell right away the stab wound was fatal.
Cary descended down straight in front of the mortally wounded young man.
"My lord...We had him hide behind a tree after he got stabbed before you descended unto us before. When we checked on him again just now, he's..." Jorje explained as he approached Cary with a grim face.
"How is he?" Cary asked with a sad expression.
Jorje did not reply with words but rather shook his head left to right. That gesture told Cary all he needed to know.
"Please, my lord! Save my son!" A man grabbed on Cary's arm and tugged on it roughly.
"Garth! Mind your manners in front of—" Jorje bellowed. "I apologize for his behavior, my lord."
"I don't mind," Cary said and crouched down to meet the eye level of the dying young man.
"My lord..." The young man said weakly. He was breathing in a rapid manner as if desperate to stay awake.
Just when I said I'll be careful about what gadget I show to people. Cary thought and sighed. But well, Cary was a modern man from a modern civilization. Most people, outside of films and entertainment, were not exposed to real violence and death. Seeing a man dying in front of his eyes, those eyes slipping away from existence, it was too much for Cary. He started slightly tearing up, reminiscing the fleetingness of life.

"My lord...?" The dying young man noticed Cary's watery eyes. Everyone else was behind Cary so the young man was the only one to see this.
"What's your name?" Cary asked.
"I'm..." The young man took a deep breath. "....Johnny,"
"Johnny, you are going to live," Cary said, wiping away his tears. He picked something from the 4D pocket. It was a futuristic medicine box with a computer screen built-in.
The Doctor's Kit. Cary said in his mind. The situation did not call for his usual theatrics in announcing the name of the gadget.
Doctor's Kit Function: This bag contains a sensor that attaches itself to a patient and it can diagnose any illnesses, ailment, and injuries they have. After the diagnosis is complete, the bag will dispense the necessary medicine and kits to cure the patient.
"Please don't resist. I will heal you now," Cary removed the sensor cable and put it near Johnny's fatal wound.
The young man looked slightly scared but nodded.
A beeping noise rang out from the gadget. A robotic voice sounded out, "Problem...near-fatal stab wound to the chest. Cause...some sort of sharp metallic object. As the injury is quite severe, please wait...."
Behind all of this, the villagers were whispering quietly and Cary could not hear them.
"That bag is speaking! What is it saying?" A man whispered.
As the bag did not fall under the effect of the translation gummy, the sentences it produced sounded completely foreign to these people.
"It's speaking the language of the gods..." A man replied.
There was a small commotion that ensued from the man's words, but Cary was too focused on healing Johnny to pay attention to them. Finally, the doctor's kit did something. From the top of the bag, some type of bottles, a gun-like object, and pills shot out before the opening closed again.
"Insert the nanobots inside this bottle into the wound. Use this stitching gun to close the wound afterward. And finally, give the patients these strong painkillers. Thank you for using our service." The robotic voice said.
Cary quickly put the bag back inside his pocket and went to work. He unscrewed the lid of the bottle and pour it down on the wound. Johnny expected himself to cringe with pain from the reaction between his open wound and the liquid but surprisingly, he felt absolutely nothing. After inserting the nanobots, Cary used the stitching gun to close the wound. The nanobots must have had some sedative effects because as Cary used the gun, Johnny did not scream in pain. The stitching gun worked by shooting out staples of self-healing strings into the injury that attached themselves automatically and close the wound. Afterward, Cary forced down some pills on Johnny's mouth.
"The wound closed!" Jorje exclaimed.
"He stopped bleeding as well!" Another man said.
The old man who was Johnny's father grabbed on to Cary's legs and cried, "Thank you, thank you, thank you," He said repeatedly.
"It's...nothing," Cary said. "Please take me to your village now. How far is it?"
"Of course, my lord," Jorje said while bowing respectfully, his face showed reverence towards Cary. "It's around six hours to walk from here. Will it be alright for my lord to join us? I'm sorry to say we did not bring any carriage."

That was close. I saved him. I really did. Cary thought. He stood still in a daze for a few seconds.
"My lord?" Jorje called out to him as he noticed Cary not replying.
Cary waved his hand. "That's fine. I need to learn about the surroundings as well. Let's go."
Throughout the six-hour journey back to the village, Cary did not really have conversations with the rest of the men. They kept insisting him to fly and follow them rather than use his feet to walk, but he refused. He walked behind them silently. Cary spent the six hours contemplating on various things about what happened.
If I had come sooner, then perhaps Johnny could avoid being fatally hurt. Cary thought. But if I did not arrive at all, all these men would have most definitely perished considering the heavily-armored knights they were fighting against.
It was silly now that Cary would have even thought of helping the knights. He knew when he first saw them that the knights were winning, but misconceptions about fictional tropes and applying them to real-life situations led him to believe these were a bunch of thugs and bandits that needed apprehending. But even if they were indeed bandits, what's to say they were completely in the wrong if they were protecting a village with children and elderlies?
I need to know more about their situation and why the knights were attacking them when we arrive. I'll see how I can help them out. Cary thought.
After six hours and considering the short amount of sunlight during winter, the environments had already gone dark. And when they were only several hundred steps away from reaching the village, a heavy snowstorm enveloped the environments. They walked at a snail's pace as they tried to push themselves against the wind.
"This is bad!" Jorje shouted, trying to get his voice across under the noisy storm.
"Oh no! The village!" Someone else shouted.
Cary noticed all the men were restless and were picking up their pace to arrive in the village.
"What's wrong?" Cary shouted.
One of the men turned to him. "My lord, did you experience the heavy snowstorm from last night? It was bad! Many of the village's building was damaged. One of the reasons we went out was to find help, but the knights refused and attacked us instead!" He said.
"How badly damaged is it? Can the villagers stay warm?" Cary replied.
"My lord, they were still in the middle of fixing the houses when we left. I'm afraid some families will be in danger if this goes on! This has been the worst winter in years! And also, many of the damaged buildings may collapse now!" He shouted.
What can I do? Cary thought. He was racking his brains on what gadgets can alleviate this situation. He opened up the 4D pocket's hologram and scrolled furiously to find solutions.
That's it! Maybe I can combine these two! He said in his mind.
"I'm going first! I'll try to do something!" Cary put on the Take-copter on his head and flew away.
"My lord!" Someone shouted behind him. Everyone was shocked to find Cary flying away.
Cary's face was numb, extremely numb. The snow and strong wind were pushing against his face but he struggled himself through it as he was already near the village. Finally, he saw the buildings. The village was a small one, and the buildings were only rudimentary in design and architecture. He could see a lot of the roofs and walls had holes on them, evidently from the damage of last night's storm. From above, he could see people trying to evacuate and move towards one of the buildings that were still intact. The visibility was bad, so many people were running around panicking as well.
"Air-Con Ball," Cary said as he pulled out a small metallic ball.
Air-Con Ball Function: Create a small force field. The inside of the force field will be warm and cozy even when the outside environment is extreme. This ball will automatically hover in the air after you throw it and activate by itself.
Now this will only create a small force field around the users. But if I use this...hopefully. Cary said in his mind and pulled out another gadget. It was an object that appeared to be a flashlight of some kind.
"Big Light."
Big Light Function: This is a flashlight that is capable of enlarging any object or creature. The size increase is determined by how long you cast the ray of light on the object or creature.
Hastily, Cary pressed the big light to shine on the very small air-con ball. The ray of light slowly started to increase the size of the ball.
How big should it be for the light to completely envelop the entire village!? He shouted in his mind. That was one variable he had not considered yet. Fuck it, make it as big as possible!
The ball increased to the point where Cary could not hold it in his hand any longer. He threw it into the sky and it started hovering and activating itself. He looked down and see that some parts of the village were being affected by the ball as a forcefield blocking the snowstorm was created. He continued casting the light ray on the ball until he could see that the entire stretch of buildings that make up the village was entirely covered by the warm force field.
By the end, the air-con ball had grown absolutely massive. If viewed from the ground, it would look like there was another moon besides the other three that were on the night sky. The snowstorm clashed against the forcefield but it could not penetrate it. The village was now suddenly warm and cozy. People down on the ground shouted in excitement.
"It worked! I'm a genius!" Cary said.
But yeah, so much for hiding my gadgets in front of these people...He thought.

The Forgotten One
Hey there everbody. This will be my second upload to Roll 20. Unfortunately I wasn't able to continue my previous one due to life and what not but I'm now back and have a some what new idea I've been kicking around for years. We'll see if i head back to my other fiction due to having things calming down. And like always I'm open to constructive critisims. Any way on to the synopsis. The world as we know it is gone. Torn from everyone due to two major things. First and foremost a biologica lweapon that no one wanted to take credit for after it was released and couldn't be stopped (a zombie virus of sorts) and the way that many nations thought to stop it from spreading was to destory everything they could ofcourse that didn't include them selves. So there the world was in a mexican standoff with hundreds of countries with hundreds of nuclear weapons just dareing one another to make the first move. Once again no one knew who started it but it didn't matter once it started the world was doomed. In an attempt to save people some scientists began working on a way to cryogenically frezze people so they could surive the on coming armegedon. The problem was before they could begin testing it on humnas the nukes began launching. In a bid to save them selves a family gave their youngest son to the scientists as a test subject. He had already been infected by the virus weeks before the nukes were being threatened and still retained his humanitiy. After being betrayed by his family after telling them of his ability to stay him self and a few things the bio weapon had changed in him physically he was sedated with enough drugs to kill a whole pride of elephants and forced to take part in the experiment. The last thing he remembers was watching his world close around him (his cryo pod) and his family's face of sadness but also hope in the fact that them betraying him may give them a chance to live. This is a fan fiction in which many aspects of one of my favorite games will be quiet prevelent. It will be obvious to those who have played it but for those who may not the game i'm going to be baseing some of the things in this novel is called Prototype. And no I do not own the rights to the cover. If the creater would like for me to pull it down please messege me.

Forced Development (What does it truly mean to live a fulfilling life?)
To get things started I would like to admit that this story does not bring much new to the table when it comes to the over-saturated Litrpg genre in terms of things like mechanics and power systems. Then what exactly am I trying to bring to the table with this work? A nice slow-paced novel about people maturing and growing older think of it as the re: zero or jobless reincarnation of Litrpgs. A story that tries to take into consideration how a worldwide system would affect the economics and culture of a world. A story that is much more character-focused than the typical heavy progression-focused novels this genre is known for. The RPG system, like any good power system, is there to actually explore the themes of the story and not just as a plot device for characters to get stronger. This is a story where we will see the growth of the Mc from being a baby to when he dies of old age. With plenty of heart-racing actions and intriguing plot developments along the way. Exploring themes like; What does it mean to improve at something and what does it mean to mature as a person? How does magic, the constant threat of monsters and people so much stronger than the average joe that they can destroy countries affect one's culture both on the micro and the macro scale? How people are affected by the culture in general? Generational trauma Nature vs Nurture Talent vs hard work What is morality, society, and people's opinions on both? What does it mean to be human and what does it mean to be alive in the context of a world with multiple sapient species vastly different from one another in basic biology? All these questions are going to be explored from multiple angles using the system as a catalyst for those discussions. So if any of does questions sound interesting to you what are you waiting for, I'm sure you are going to love this story. PS - Chapter come out every Friday at about the same time.
