Well, without further ado!

*Pu chi*
Blood gushed and a sword was slowly removed from a dead snake.
It was a rank 2, albino snake. Albino snakes were snakes found in dark forests and they were often in groups. The one which attacked him today had somehow been separated from its group, at least that's what he thought.
He was now sixteen years old and very much stronger than before, he had connected to his star and gained its “gift”. Well, the word gift wouldn’t really be appropriate since it's more of a boost in physical strength.
He hadn’t yet begun to cultivate star energy, as he had no cultivation technique yet. He had only trained his body, and yes, it was to a frightening degree.
His first life and death situation was when he first arrived to the forest. As he was a newcomer, he was not yet accustomed to the jungle, where the stronger preys the weaker.
*FLASHBACK BEGINS*
He walked into the ancient forest, it was strangely very quiet. The trees stretched up in the sky to what seemed to be infinite.
The ground was untouched by the human foot, the maiden’s land. Or maybe that was the trick, camouflaging itself to look peaceful, quiet and not dangerous. In reality, maybe he was walking into the jaws of death without having any Idea whatsoever about it.
As he made his way through the endless leaves, cutting them with the sword he had been gifted by Melinda, she had svars up money to buy it. At first he had rejected it, but after countless of persuasions from her, that she would worry herself to death, he had accepted it.

After about an hour he came to a grove, the light seeped in from the tree crowns, quite the beautiful sight , it made him speechless.
Suddenly he saw something, in the corner of his eye, coming at high speed towards him.
He was barely able to put up his sword to defend himself.
Both he and the attacker flew away and landed on the ground a couple of meters away from force of the collision.
The attacker was a tiger with white stripes. He remembered that he had read about it in he book he got from brute.
It was a snow tiger, rank 2. The tiger always went solo to hunt unless it had a partner, yes, opposite sexes.
Luckily, this tiger which looked like a male, had no female partner yet.
It growled at him, showing its big teeth. He had to admit, it looked very fierce, he was quite scared actually. He had never fought a beast before. (“Monster” changed to “beast”, it has a better feel to it)
Could he run away? No.
he would not turn his head under the sand, if he did, he wouldn’t get stronger.
The snow tiger charged, trying to swipe him with its left paw.
Philip dodged it in the last second, showing off his body training. If he had been a normal human, without the innebar bodily training he had went through, he would surely be dead right now.
The tiger jumped to him against, this time Philip was to late and a huge claw slash drew blood from his shoulder.
At the same time phillip's sword hit the tiger’s right eye. It roared in pain.
Philip rejoiced. It now only had half its vision, it would probably have problems to judge distance, which was an advantage to him.
This time, philip took the initiative and slashed at the tiger.

His slash was lightning fast and it was powerful enough as it tore up a deep wound near the the beast’s abdomen.
With a final strike, he pierced though its throat, extinguishing the flame of life within its eyes.
*FLASHBACK ENDS*
He used his sword to make a hole in the snake’s head to collect its energy bead.
The bead was about the size if a thumb, this one was bright white with red marks.
Energy bead is a bead which had stored energy. Every beast from rank 1 to rank 10 had one of them and he energy within the beads increased each rank.
If a star cultivator is to devour one, he could absorb the energy within to increased his cultivation. It would be kind of a cheat if not for the negative effects of devouring to many. If a cultivator devoured to many, his cultivation would be unstable. If the foundation was damaged or unstable, It would inflict problems in later cultivation
That’s why, cultivators first had to make the star energy from the bead their own. It would be faster than to collect energy from one's star, but the energy would definitely not be as pure as if it was absorbed from one’s unique star.
Therefore, it would have to be a mix, or only the pure energy absorbed from stars.
He was very close to the academy according to the map.
……..
Three days later
The academy could be described with a single, gigantic!
He walked towards the gate, where two guards stood.
“Hello”

The Core of a Factory
An abandoned steampunk arms factory, in the middle of a conflict torn former state of the Empire it served, gains a soul. This transforms it into a Lord, capable of turning land into power. Beset by enemies on all sides it must figure out how to win the war its creators lost a century ago. This is a progressive Dungeon Core novel (which is to say the core will progress and expand in scale, eventually) across multiple dimensions with different characteristics (e.g. steampunk, magic, mythological). It has rationalist leanings (paragraphs of reasoning) and litrpg leanings (there are stat blocks). The core game mechanical idea is something like "what if different flavors of magic power actually did come from controlling land" and then the story is: "what if there was a flavorless (artifact deck) dungeon core". Chapters will be relatively short (my aim is that in three column format each would fit on a wide screen monitor), the first few chapters - setting up the main character and mechanics - are currently the longest in the entire series. I write chapters in blocks, and then release them one a weekday (M-F; 6 PM GMT, unless RoyalRoad's publish thing screws up) until I run out. There may be a few days of gaps here and there if someone finds an egregious error I have to re-write around or if I am behind. In general though one can read this once a weekend. I may do slight retconns and edits, I'll make sure to put it in an authors note if I do.
