《Divine Rebirth》Chapter 13 Saturation

A tree in a certain forest:
We are one and these other things are just there to create fertile soil and then give their stolen energy back. That was the way that bought us to greatness and growth. The one way that enabled us to strengthen our domain and let us grow. All we ever did was grow there was nothing to do except to grow and to absorb the powers from above and below.
Until one day when suddenly a strange contraption appeared before each of us. Nobody of us knew what to do with it so we just let it stay there in the corner of us. It never stopped or attacked us but on the other side wasn't something we could absorb. So, we couldn't do anything with it. So, we just let it stay there watching it.
Until one day where one of us tried something new with the beast around us the ones that grew while devouring other only to die and be devoured by us. The one in question tried in an act of desperation to guide these bests away from itself and to others of their strange kind. So, it tried and tried but only after it used the strange energy that we later learned to call mana was it able to chase them away.
After that, we knew that it was possible to use this energy not only for growth but also for other things. We still had that strange contraption that we now know is the System that was a part a small one but still a part of us. We tried to guide it as we had with the beasts, but it didn't work so we just tried to interact with it. And we succeeded after multiple attempts but the moment we did so a wave of knowledge washed over us.

And after that we finally knew the answer to so many questions, we didn't know we had, for example, did we finally know what we were and what we could do. But the strange thing was that this construct allowed us to grow and change into so much more. And we noticed that it saw us a just single thing so we arranged ourselves with this and we grew into something so much more powerful and learned after a while that we could alter the monsters around us.
And so, we did, we learned what it meant to devour and what we should do to get more power. And with time the monsters changed, they grew more aggressive not towards us but towards each other still, we knew that if there weren't some of them, we would fall back into our old slow growth. So, when the power above grew weaker we allowed their numbers to rise. Because once before we were overeager and a couple of us had to sacrifice themselves to let us still grow.
But we hit a limit at first one when we wanted to the power above and then when we couldn't get more from the power below. So, we asked the System to see if we could break away from our limits and it seemed to suggest multiple new forms for us. Most of them wouldn't work for because their limits were things we wouldn't put up with. We had to grow there was no way around it and even if we had to have a limit it had to be something big. At last, we noticed a choice that we could accept and so we evolved. And after this process, we found out that once you do this you have to start as sapling again. But we had us, our knowledge, the System and our food.

But in the process of attaining our power, the was another strange occurrence. A thing that stood on two legs instead of three or four. We could feel immense power emanating from it, but we couldn't control it only annoy (?)it. After it left, we were in a state of confusion because who could resist the great forest. But then something changed in all us. At first, it happened slowly, and we didn't know what to do when suddenly one of us began to act up just to vanish from us in the next moment. We knew he was beside us, but we weren't one anymore. This happened slowly over time and right now I am the last us that still isn't in this new state, but I begin to feel different. Slowly I feel my old self vanish only for a new aspect of me to appear.
Finally, do know what was meant when the System called us a parasite. We didn't have to devour everything. We should not only devour life but also care for it to grow and spread. We should help the beast and bring them on the right path but that doesn't mean we have to give up anything we have to help others. Only when they lose themselves do take their mana.
But why is it getting darker now?
.
.
.
.
Are those voices? Are that the other voices of us? Ah finally am I connected again. Finally, are we whole again? And it seems I am not the only oldest one anymore. More and more seem to have had the same experience. But they tell me of other things about how we can't control the beast anymore but instead can help them grow. Others tell of gold and purple they seem to be the colours of our saviour.
And so, it began in the time when the power above grew again. We shed our old leaves and grew new ones. Most of them were purple but the older ones of us got them more golden ones could he have. First, the gold began at the top and slowly over time more and more gold would come down.
And after some time even the System seemed to agree that we were something different. We have retained our rank, but our species changed.

Shades of the Moon
I'm rewriting this story! I have taken down Arc 2 and Arc 3 already to avoid spoiling my new novel. The only reason I'm keeping the first 10 chapters is nostalgia; the writing is awkward and the story is not plotted out properly, but it's here if anyone wants to compare it to the new one. If you'd like to read a more professionally written version of this story, I highly suggest checking out my Synergy. Synopsis version too-many-to-count: “I see,” Kiona said. “But . . . you’re changing once again, aren’t you?” The entity considered her question, lifting a clawed hand towards the night sky. They observed the back of their hand idly, watching the glowing orange veins pulse alongside their pitch-black exoskeleton. The wind picked up right then, and Kiona shivered—just as much from the cold as from the savage grin on the creature's face. “That’s right,” the entity said, clenching their hand slowly into a fist. They let out a quiet laugh, staring defiantly at the Moon as it rose from behind the clouds. “We are shades, yet not exactly. Not like the others. Here, in this world, we've become something more. We are the Shades of the Moon.” There was a heartbeat of silence, during which Kiona joined the entity in their skygazing. The light-green Moon loomed over the city, shining like the entity's eyes. It promised otherworldly knowledge and terrible secrets. It promised progress. It promised change. In that moment, Kiona couldn't have imagined anything more beautiful. “Shades of the Moon, huh?” she said, smiling a bit. It had a nice ring to it.
