Bill:

I checked my messages,

“Yeah, yeah, everyone’s a critic, trust me I learned my lessons.”

Bill checked his Quest Messages

Following my established plan, I quickly bought System Chat (500cp) and System Loot (250cp after Adventurers discount) .

Then to test it out, I said in the general direction of the clouds, “Jimni too? He doesn’t seem the religious type.”

The Goddess replied immediately, [“He’s not, but he likes gold, and he’ll stick by Thorbjorn through thick and thin. That’s good enough for now, he’ll grow into it, if I keep dribbling enough small rewards in his path. Speaking of which, that reminds me.”]

Grinning outrageously, I said “Why do I feel like I’m a farmer and that’s a sack of ’natural fertilizer’, I’m getting to spread for you?”

I pulled the 3 lizards out of my inventory and looted them while we talked, then put their skinless bodies back into my inventory.

The I repeated it with the Badgerbear

On Divine chat Bill countered, [“No points, net push, joke was too obvious, 5-yard penalty, first down.”]

Danu replied, [“If you go Barbarian, and make a necklace of those Teeth and claws, it’d be a good magic item.”]

[“Go barbarian? oh hell no, just because I have that in me doesn’t mean I trust it. Me fighting all glands, no brain, fuck that noise. If we both hadn’t been frozen with fear and about to die, I wouldn’t have let it off the leash this time, even -WITH- a resurrection in my pockets. Is it worth much to sell?”]

[“Not as much as it’d be up north, but it’d put enough coin for some gear in your pocket.”] said the goddess.

[“Sold, now was that so hard, giving me actual useful information?”]

[“You ignored -My- advice buster, I had to be Delphic as long as you kept doing so, it’s part of the job description… You know you really scared Yamina back there, right?”]

I replied, my voice low and soft, [“I scared the crap out of me, too, resurrection or no resurrection, it will make us both take things more seriously in the future, she’s a good girl, but more of that would do her no harm. I will coddle her a bit till she feels better though, she’s earned that too. With access to this village finally, we should be able to get some basic gear too.”]

[“She is a good girl, isn’t she?”]

[“Yep, just like her momma, most days.”]

[“Flatterer.”]

[“I know which side of my biscuit is buttered, Miss Denu. I’ve got to go, need to sell some loot and buy some pants.”]

In divine chat, [“When you are done, go visit the smiths, they are good of heart and deserve your custom. Treat with them well, and you might earn a friend.”] Said Danu and in some clear but undefinable way she left.

I said exasperatedly, “Even before pants? What do you have against me lady?”

I put the wooden stave back in his inventory and pulled a few thin branches out and began to spin them back and forth together in my hands, forming the wood into a tight dense but flexible cord. And then strung the Badgerbear teeth and Claws upon it, teeth in the center, tied a knot and for good measure, dipped it all deeply into the river, before withdrawing it wet can glistening into the light.

I then converted a few of his dark ingots of raw iron into darts, and stashed them in his inventory. I did this even though I was about to get a carbon source for steel. lesson learned, preparation even if it’s boring. Be Prepared. How the hell had I forgotten the damn motto. Next, I used concentrate and slowly pulled up a 20 more Ingots of Iron, the magic tingling in my veins. Finally, I pulled a half dozen thumb sized nuggets of gold, the magic feeling slippery and smooth and stashed them as well.

“About time” I said, and then wandered along to the back of the nearby tavern where Jimni and Thorbjorn had gone to drink. I bent down and dug my hands through the gritty the ash pile and grabbed a half dozen pieces of charcoal out of it, dusted my hands off, then ambled along to the Blacksmith. As I walked along slowly, converting his Iron Ingots into high carbon steel. As I walked, the charcoal was slowly dissolving in his hands.
