Burial
Liu Feng reached West district around 8pm, he headed straight back to his apartment buying dinner back.
“Finally my own bed, oh how I have missed you.” Liu Feng said crashing on his bed after eating dinner.
“Should I the 3 remaining rank 2 forging and smithing techniques or should I start tomorrow? I think I will start tomorrow, I just need sleep now.” Liu Feng mumbled as he fell into slumber.
The next day Liu Feng got up early and started with his usual routine, cultivating and practicing the eight ethereal strikes along with the cultivation of 100 steps to heaven.
With his Qi sea now 45% filled, he went to study the remaining rank 2 smithing technique.
The other rank 2 smithing technique was called the . A normal weapon could only have one elemental damage technique applied to it, but Liu Feng’s weapon was a staff and it had two points.
Thus he could apply the frost damage technique to the other point of his staff.
Half a day passed and Liu Feng had comprehend the frost damage technique, since its runic circle was similar to the fire damage technique.
“Let’s apply it on to Kumo and see how it works.” Liu Feng started drawing a runic circle following the sigils he channeled his Qi through it in a pattern.
Applying a technique to an item was not difficult as long as one studies the sigils and the pattern in which to channel Qi through.
Picking up Kumo after the applying process he practiced the eight ethereal strikes using Kumo. Small bursts of flames were being emitted from one end of Kumo, and the other end had small burst of frost emitting.
I will have to head to the Wild Lands to test it out on full scale in combat against the beasts.
Looking at the rank 2 forging technique book which he still had to learn, he felt a sense of fatigue rush through him.
“Dammit more studying to do haizz.” Liu Feng cursed.
Liu Feng spent the next 4 days studying the two rank 2 forging techniques which were and the .
The Qi recovery technique increased Qi recovery slightly, and the recovery techniques could heal minor wounds. Both were good techniques to have on the Sage’s set.
Thus he applied the techniques on all the armour pieces of the Sage’s Set.
“Finally no more studying to do!” He cheered.
“But wait I still have to practice the 100 steps to heaven, Arghh!” Liu Feng screamed upon his realisation.
“First I will go and purchase martial tears so that it will speed up the process of reaching the middle stage of the 100 steps to heaven, it will allow my speed to be as fast as a ghost.” Liu Feng headed towards the market place to buy martial tears.
Once at the market place Liu Feng bought 4 mid tier martial tears for 10 blue dram each.
“Damn it is expensive, once I reach the middle stage with 100 steps to heaven I really need to go and hunt beast to replenish my wealth” Liu Feng lamented.

Heading back home Liu Feng spent another 4 days using the martial tears to get the 100 steps to heaven to the middle stage.
Stretching his body Liu Feng said, “Time to let loose in the Wild Lands with my cultivation at Foundation Establishment 5 nothing would be able to stop me.”
Heading towards the West gate he suppressed his cultivation to foundation establishment 1 so that he would not shock the guards at the scanner.
“Finally I am free!” Liu Feng screamed before he started running towards the core zone of the wild lands.
While running he equipped his Sage’s armour set, taking out Kumo and holding it in his left hand, he rushed even faster towards the core zone.
Unleashing his cultivation which was at foundation establishment 5, he utilised the 100 steps to heaven to the max.
“Damn I am fast!” Liu Feng said as he looked around, the scenery was a blur. In less than 3mins Liu Feng reached the core zone of the Wild Lands.
“It used to take me days to traverse this distance, now I am able to do it in a flash” Liu Feng thought as he came to a halt.
Liu Feng searched for beasts to hunt but he only saw wild beasts at the Qi refinement realm. “There are no magical beast here?” Liu Feng thought.
Heading deeper into the core zone, he felt the Qi in his surroundings suddenly turn dense.
“It feels like I am not in the core zone anymore, I have read about rumours of a place called the inner core zone in the wild lands said to have magical beast. Guess those rumours were true after all” Liu Feng thought.
He spotted a white ape which was glowing in white light which had a height of roughly 15 metres. “Holy shit you’re huge” Liu Feng said as he saw that the cultivation of the ape was at Foundation Establishment 6.
“A worthy opponent.” Liu Feng muttered rushing towards the ape.
The white ape turned around sensing the hostility behind it. The white ape used its forearms to block Liu Feng’s strike.
“So you managed to block it? Your defence is good” Liu Feng said looking at the ape.
The ape shook its arms to put out the fire which burned its fur. The ape snarled at Liu Feng clearly irritated by the burns.
The ape grabbed a boulder near it and threw it at Liu Feng. Liu Feng panicked managing to dodge at the last second, he did not expect the white ape to use ranged attacks.
The ape did not give any chance, since Liu Feng’s feet had yet to touch the ground since his dodge. He would not be able to dodge again mid air, the ape punched Liu Feng with all its might.
Liu Feng was blown back almost 10 metres away crashing through all the trees. Getting up from the ground Liu Feng coughed up blood. Some of his ribs had been fractured, “F**k it is stronger than I expected.”

Despite being able to have blocked the strike using Kumo and even with the defence of the Sage’s set he still took a lot of damage. “If I had not been wearing any armour I would have died.” Liu Feng had over estimated his strength.
He rushed back towards the ape, dodging the fist which were smashing towards him. Sliding under the legs of the ape, Liu Feng spun around and swung Kumo at the ape’s back.
The ape fell to the ground, its back was slightly frozen, and its skin was bleeding due to frost bite. The ape roared in pain, getting up from the ground.
The white light around the ape’s body gathered to its fists and it started to emit white light.
“What the hell is this?” Liu Feng was shocked as he noticed that the ape was actually using an attack skill.
“Magical beasts can use skills?” This was news to Liu Feng.
The ape smashed it’s fists into the ground causing the ground to break the fissures rushed towards Liu Feng.
“That’s it?” Liu Feng jumped up into the air and dodged the fissures as to not fall in and get trapped.
Little did he expect that the white light from the ape’s fist to travel through the fissure and rush out from under the cracked ground.
“Dammit again, it is attacking me when I am in the air.” Not able to dodge Liu Feng took the hit directly. Liu Feng was blasted high up into the air.
Coughing out more blood, “This time I, really broke some ribs.” Landing back on to the ground, Liu Feng used Kumo to launch him back up into the air towards the ape.
Liu Feng executed the eight ethereal strikes rapidly all around the ape. Liu Feng was flashing around the beast at his top speed, he was blinking in and out of visibility of the white ape’s line of sight.
Angered that it could not see its attacker, the wild ape swung its arms randomly trying to hit Liu Feng down. But to no avail.
Liu Feng was like an annoying fly for the ape. Roaring in rage, the white ape slammed its fist to the ground causing the white light in its fist to enter the ground and rupture it, blowing up the ground around it.
“I was waiting for you to do that.” Liu Feng thought he spun Kumo in a whirl wind defending against the flying debris. Liu Feng landed on the ground and stabbed Kumo into the foot of the white ape, the ape roared in anguish.
Fully emitting his Qi through Kumo he froze the entire left leg of the white ape. The white ape lost its footing and crashed into the ground.
Liu Feng took this opportunity to land a barrage of attacks on the head of white ape, before it got itself free and was able to stand up again.
Blast of fire and frost was raining down on the head of the ape along with the physical stakes from Kumo. The ape succumbed to its injuries and died.
“Finally you are dead dammit, if this had dragged on for another 2 more mins. I would have depleted my Qi, and you would have definitely killed me.” Liu Feng slumped on to the body of the white ape.
“Had I not noticed that after the ape gathered the white light into its fist and send it into the ground, that its defence would decrease. I would not have been able to have pierced its foot with Kumo. This was a close fight, and I could have lost my life.” Liu Feng thought as he swallowed a few recovery pills from his ring.
After recovering for awhile, Liu Feng got up and stored the body of the white ape into his ring. After placing the body into his ring he noticed the bodies of Lei Jun and his parents still in his ring.
Liu Feng started to dig three holes into the ground, before burying them. He used a simple stone marker for the graves.
Liu Feng stood in front of the graves, supporting himself with Kumo.
“I am still not sure if what I did was correct, maybe if I had tried talking to you instead things would have turned out differently. But I don’t regret my decision. With this reason fight with the white ape, I realised I am not that strong yet. Thus till I reach the very top and till I can be safe, I will kill anyone who hinders my journey. I am sorry you were still good people in the end.” Liu Feng bowed to the graves before heading back to the West gate.
Once back home, Liu Feng took a shower and sat on his chair. He then started to analyse the fight with the white are, trying to figure out what he lacked.
“During the fight if I had not realised that the defence of the ape decreased when it moved the white light into the ground. I would have died. What I need now would be a stronger attacking skill for a staff, most definitely a piercing skill with a staff.”
“The eight ethereal strikes are well rounded and too balanced. I need an attack skill which is purely attack, allowing me to end it in one strike.”
Liu Feng sat in a lotus position not to cultivate but to circulate his own Qi within his body to heal his broken ribs.
“Damn that monkey really did a number on me.”
“I will start training at the inner core zone of the wild lands. Starting from tomorrow as I have 15 days left till the start of University.”
“I will also stop increasing my cultivation and purely focus and improving my combat skills. As I have become to depended on my cultivation.” Liu Feng thought as he focused on healing his ribs.
