《Romance of the Three Beasts》8.3 - Dragon's Rest

Dragon winced as he awoke. His eyes slowly opened up and he could see the blurry form of some humanoid figure. Then he blinked the blurriness away. The form started to shift into something more recognisable.
“Little lady.” He said as he saw the bright eyes of the little lady staring down at him from above. He tried to sit up, but only let out a low groan, and decided that remaining laying down was probably the best course of action.
“You’re awake!” She grinned down at him, pearly white teeth near sparkling.
“Oh, you’re awake.” He heard Tiger’s voice, which was also the last thing he had heard before he fell unconscious. He turned his head slowly to see Tiger sitting nearby, legs crossed, leaning back and relaxing. His robe was torn in several places. He was slightly injured too, the cuts still fresh on his body. Dragon could feel Tiger drawing in ki, a lax meditation, no doubt trying to show off.
“It’s you.” Dragon said.
Tiger frowned. “Oi, what the hell is that? I come and save ya and this is the thanks I get?”
Dragon blinked a few times and then looked back up at the little lady. She seemed fine, with a bright smile on her face. It was near blinding to Dragon. He closed his eyes. Another face flashed within his mind, causing him to wince.
“Mister Dragon, are you alright?”
Dragon opened his eyes and stared up at the ceiling. His brow was slick with a cold sweat. “I’m fine.” He said, looking at the girl now.
“You had this… look on your face…” She frowned.
“…” He closed his eyes again and then fell back to sleep. His dreams were of the others, the blood splattering across the wall. He could hear it as clear as he had once before.

Dragon eventually awoke to a sensation he had gotten used to. He could hear the wagon wheels turning, and the light snoozing of the little lady, which was another sound he had gotten used to.
He sat up, finally having gained the strength to do so. He could feel his muscles ache, the light pulsing and twitches within his body bringing some comfort to him. His fingers grazed along the cloth that bound around his body, the same cloth that Tiger had torn from his robes.
He coughed up a bit of blood and spat it beside him, before laying over it. He wiped his mouth. He lay back down once the little lady stirred awake.
“Mister Dragon?” She rubbed her eyes and then looked at him. “You’re awake.”
“How long?” Dragon asked, hiding the blood under him.
“Half a day.” She replied back. She covered her mouth as she yawned.
He nodded. He felt that it had been half a day, considering how much he had healed and how much ki he had gathered, although it wasn’t as much as he would have normally recovered. Still, compared to how he had been sleeping the last short while, he welcomed it. He would have to thank Tiger later.
Tiger peered his head in through the curtain, as if he heard that he could finally embarrass Dragon.
“Oh, you’re awake.” Tiger nodded at Dragon.
Dragon remained silent.
“How are you feeling, eh?” Tiger asked.
“Fine.”
“Looks like I came exactly on time.” Tiger grinned, baring his teeth. The smile was annoyingly smug.
The little lady turned to look at Tiger and then back at Dragon.
“Little lady has been looking after you for some time.” Tiger ruffled her hair. She pulled away and tried to fix it. Tiger chuckled. “I’ll leave Dragon in your care then.” He said, chuckling once more. He turned to leave.
“Tiger, thank you.”
Tiger waved his hand at Dragon, as if swatting away his words. “Won’t be the last time.”
Dragon’s lips curled upward slightly before he fell back to sleep. This time his dreams were peaceful, that is to say, there was nothing there.
