Glancing at the pop-up and then to the dead body that was lying on the floor, motionless. The body of that filthy animal made the quiet surroundings more profound, as though all life had been stolen from the carpark.
Not sparing another look at the remains of that sorry excuse for a human, my attention was now focused on the pop-up in front of me. After this ordeal, it only strengthened my resolve to increase my strength as it was the only way to improve my situation.
There have been many times in my life when I have felt hopeless throughout my incarceration. It was perhaps the acutest pain a person may know, founded on frustration and ventless rage.
Now a path had presented before me... a path that was like an elevator that would be able to bring me bountiful gains and countless riches while being able to reside at the lofty peak, looking down at everyone below.
Although the destination brought an insane amount of fame and glory, it was a bloody path that a few could tread long enough the reach the "promised land". It was a path of no return, filled with bloodshed and loss. It was not for the faint of heart or the weak-willed. It was a mad man's path, a decision that the previous Jasper would not ever entertain.
A lot of people have tread this path because of the temptation of power and control, but very few made it. There was no such thing as right or wrong in this jungle! The winners were the ones that were able to decide right from wrong, power reigns absolute!
Now, it was my turn to tread this path... but with the "system's" guidance and the plentiful resources that came with it, it would make it much easier to pave the road to success. But it did not guarantee the safety as it was not omnipotent.

Strengthening my resolve, I motioned for my stat's to be displayed in front of me.
------------------------------------>
Strength: 7
Dexterity: 15
Intelligence: 20
Vitality: 10
Unallocated skill points: 6
------------------------------------>
My stats seem pretty average... from the current skirmish that took place, it was evident that I was lacking the capabilities to inflict as much damage onto my opponent as intended, but as a trade-off, I had higher dexterity and intelligence stat.
Considering an average healthy working adult has an average of 10 stats per skill, I wished to monopolize and improve my Dexterity whilst having my Strength to be not too far off. Therefore, the best course of action was to pump 3 skill points on Strength and Dexterity respectively.
Feeling satisfied with my choice, I gestured to apply 3 Strength & Dexterity.
[Comfirming Stat allocation...]
[...Stat allocation Success!]
Now that the technical stuff is out of the way, I am greeted by the wonderful sight of an almost ass naked mutilated corpse. What a waste though, whatever possessions he still had were either broken or was nothing of significance/value.
I really fucked his shit up though. Looks like ol' Roc over here will be a sight to behold to whichever poor soul that stumbles across this big baddie.
Oh right! Where was I going again? Glancing at the minimap, my end destination was not too far off.
And so, the journey continues.
----------
After this *ahem* educational experience, the rest of the trip towards my safe house was uneventful and mundane.
As I took a couple steps into the neighborhood I was greeted by the towering apartment complexes which were placed irregularly and were densely packed together. It almost looked like maze walls which were caving inwards.
The architect that designed this apartment complex... wasn't the brightest. At least the space used to build this complex wasn't put to good use. What a shame, really.

Although I believe a better term that would fit the odd housings would be "High rise flats", the kind you would find in China or South East Asian countries alike. The buildings had a pasty yellow color, which didn't help to cover the stains and the obvious wear on the walls.
Hell, there were even skid marks on the concrete tiles! As I got closer to the perimeter of the buildings I was assigned to, the
[Destination reached...]
[Apartment would be located at Building 8C]
[#11-4, 8C]
Looking at the building once more, the apartment certainly wasn't up to par with the ones back on earth... but it could make do.. for now. It still beat the rusty cage we were locked up in, no doubt about it.
Although it's not ideal, it's still a good start. For what seemed like a new beginning, an odd feeling of satisfaction welled up in the depths of my being. This apartment was the fruit of my labor and hard work, kind off. Something that I achieved which wasn't casually handed to me.
This time I am proudly able to say that this was something I got with my own two hands!

Jalan Suram : The 100 Fire Holders
"Why us?" Still staring at the unusually stationary fire of the candle he was holding, Agung voiced the questions in our mind. "Out of 2 million people living in this city, why are we the chosen ones?" As if on cue, the eerie laughter of children could be heard above us. Holding our own candle tightly, we resolved to ignore them and continued our discussion. It was a matter of life or death after all. More than half of the initial participants had fallen and the building became more crowded as the result. There were now more ghosts than the living and each step was filled with danger from the unknown. Either we solved all the questions now or we would become another addition to the ghost camp. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There was one thing Novita found out after she accepted an invitation to a suspicious event from a seemingly legal company. Crowded didn't exactly mean safe. As more and more variables were added to the dangerous ritual, the higher the risk of death. Parental Controls
Reeve Williams always felt more at home in vivid virtual reality than in drab real reality, partly as an escape from the very real embarrassment of her technically inept parents, Walter and Wanda. When Reeve’s parents give her a new total-immersion virtual reality system for her birthday, Reeve reluctantly agrees to show them what it’s like…just for a few minutes. But a mistake only her technophobe father would make leaves Reeve facing the prospect of spending months in the greatly accelerated, fantastically complex, brutally unforgiving game world. With her parents. Posts will be every M/W/F. If I ever decide to try to turn Parental Controls into an ebook, I won't do so in such a way that I'd need to take down what I've posted to Royal Road. Thanks for reading!
