《Affairs of Demons and Men》Quinn 2 - Downtown - Avenue View Apartments

"This is where you live!" Charles sounds surprised. Where did he expect me to live? I couldn't think of anywhere else we could go. Kids our age do this all the time, hanging out at each other's places. I've never really had someone over before, a common complaint of Mom's even though she's rarely home to know this or not. Charles continues to study the apartment complex.
"Is it a problem?" I ask him.
"No, not really, it's just," Charles looks around, "kind of the shit part of town."
Ah, that. The unfairness of our society, that there even is a classification of a good part of town and shit part of town.
"You get used to it," I punch in the code to the front door entrance to get inside the complex.
"No wonder you don't believe in superheroes," he states.
What he means to say is that because I live in the area with the highest rate of crime and hospitalizations, with the sounds of gunshots ringing in alleyways at night, that it has somehow affected my belief that there is something or someone to save us. Though none of that really plays into that fact. I have believed that since I was a kid, watching kids like Charles get bullied and everyone standing around and watching.
Waiting for that Someone or Something to help. Instead of being that Someone or Something. I cannot be that Someone or Something because I don't have the power, the influence, the physicality to be that Someone. I do what I can. But a Someone or a Something usually comes from a higher position.
I point out a stain in the front entrance carpet, "That's where someone was shot and died." I tell him.
Charles makes a face, "How can you say that so casually."

"Death is death, it's something that happens," I tell him, leading him to the elevator, "but there was no one who came for him and there definitely wasn't someone to come save him. The stain is a reminder of how complacent we are when we wait for someone to be the savior."
"I'm starting to consider the rumors about you,"
Pressing the button to the third floor, "What's that?"
"Well kids in class say you're kind of creepy,"
That's acceptable. I understand. I am only creepy because I don't really adhere to their societal standards. I don't believe in heroes and I don't believe in saviors. I am pretty all right with violence and stressful situations. They see all of this and the only real way they have to describe this is creepy, it doesn't bother me. It won't stop me from trying to help them from a situation. And either they will walk into my apartment with me after school or they won't.
"This is it," I tell him standing in front of 3 - D1.
"I'll admit, I am not having really nice thoughts," Charles tells me.
"Thank you for your honesty, I appreciate it," turning the key and letting the door swing open, pointing to the shoe rack on the small tile foyer. Charles pauses, he looks around, to the flat screen TV mounted to the wall. Mom worked hard for that TV, the dining table we got for free from her sister; it is cleaned off and clear of debris. The wood is protected by a beautiful floral printed cloth tablecloth. The futon is sleek, like a lounge chair in the center of the living room with black pleather and a steel frame, with black and white striped accent chairs sitting at opposite sides of the coffee table.

"It's, uh, cozy," Charles admits, "Your parents decorated this place, then?"
"Mom and I," I tell him.
"Your Mom and you?" Charles shifts uncomfortably, "Can I ask where your Dad is?"
"On the bookcase," I laugh, pointing to Dad's urn.
Charles' cheeks go flush from embarrassment, "Sorry for asking."
"It's fine, it hurts, but I can talk about it now," I tell him.
Charles looks around, "What does your Mom do?"
"Mom," I close the door behind us and lock it, "she does a lot of jobs."
"Oh," Charles responds, "I thought. Well you have a TV."
"She worked really hard to save up for that, it was our Christmas present to us," I tell him with a smile, "It's fine."
Charles nods, "This is the first time I have gotten to really know you, Quinn. Still think you're pretty odd."
"Let's go into my room,"
"So your Mom sleeps," he looks at the futon.
She could only afford a one bedroom, and last year she made a promise to me that I would be able to get my own room, because she got a raise. Truth is that most people would look down upon someone working as a receptionist, I think my Mom does what she can with the work available to her. I appreciate that she gave me a room of my own, but it's still unfair that she doesn't have a room of her own.
Charles pauses entering my room.
He wears a lot of his emotions on his sleeve and probably the reason why he's such a target at school. I can be aware of why they pick him out, even if I don't agree with it.
"Hey, uh I forgot there's something I have to do at home," Charles tells me nervously. I expected as much.
"That's fine, see you around school," I tell him, "I really liked walking home with you."
"Yeah, uh, me too," his eyes twitch to a poster on my wall, "See you around Quinn."

Magriculture (Rewrite)
When Aurum Industries announced the first Full Immersion Virtual Reality Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (FIVRMMORPG if you're hip) Limitless Online, most people saw it as an opportunity to live out their sword and sorcery fantasies. John, however, saw it as the opening of a new and as of yet uncrowded job market. One he was willing, and eager, to exploit. Determined to make money through virtual hard work and effort, John sets his sights not on the heights of magic or the perfection of the sword, but instead upon the tilling of the soil and the sowing of seeds as he explores the wide and wonderful world of magical agriculture all from the comfort of his own bed. Disclaimer: This is a rewrite of the original "Magriculture", which some of you may have read. (To those who did, you have my deepest gratitude, it is absolutely because of your patronage and comments that this rewrite happened, and I feel the story is better for it.) That said, this story is not a complete and polished work, there will be mistakes and errors, an occasionally these errors may mean I need to rewrite portions of the story (as of this posting the story has gone through two major rewrites already, and I'm seriously hoping there won't be need of a third.) Because of this, there may at times be changes. Such changes may be as small as editing a few numbers (such as going back and changing how much mana an object holds) or it may force me to re-write entire chapters (this has happened once already, and I'm really hoping it doesn't happen again, but... life). Minor re-writes will probably never be posted here. Major rewrites probably will. Anyway, what this boils down to is: If you're looking for a fully cohesive story with few to no errors and publisher level editing, this is not the story for you. If you're looking for a cohesive plot that's more than "Man farms, man farms, man farms well, man maybe makes money" you're probably also in the wrong place, but I will attempt to entertain you anyway.
8 264Omnipocalypse Monsters(Shelved Timeline)
System Edit: This timeline has been shelved, but the adventures of the Omegas and her kids will continue in the next System Update Timeline with additional foes and challenges early on to guide the Omegas into a less destructive path of protection. The Omnipocalypse was every apocalypse humans ever imagined all happening at once, zombies, plagues, nukes, EMPs, Robot uprisings. Not just the earth either, It happened to every World ever dreamed up by men too: heaven, hell, and every other afterlife or spirit world ended, plus the worlds of books and stories bled into reality. It all broke apart and either; became new places on the chaotic Earth or part of the even messier spirit world. Magic beasts mutated by radiation, Robots mastering Magic, the mixture of everything made the horrors... well, more horrible. Omega; A young Woman with few memories wakes to find she has spent 2500 years in stasis, in a basement of scientific horrors. Creatures and Things that could supposedly destroy the world if ever let free. Horrors of which she was the last to get free. Rather then Quest for world domination or destruction; Omega keeps getting drawn into a protective role over other orphans, lost monsters, and broken AIs. So she decides to build something to help all her little monster family be safe. -------This story is meant to be a behind the scenes look at stories about kids solving problems that should be beyond them. I always wanted to see a story about Professor Oak, Dumbledore, or any other mentor who trains the main characters. I like the idea of someone looking at the apocalyptic world and deciding to make it safe enough that a small child can wander off and make some monster their pet. The pokemon games have fun systems to consider the behind the scenes workings of, like what training a team rocket member goes through to become a villain cut out for children to defeat. how they prevent a deific pokemon from accidentally murdering some little rat with its immense psionic power. However, the story itself is not really meant to be a pokemon parody, I draw inspiration from every genre of fiction, any type of game, this story is the only one I plan of ever writing without a clear cut ending planned, I love the infinite storytelling capacity of things like Doctor who's TARDIS, the Stargate or Rick's portal gun. In this case, I wanted the setting itself to be one where any and every story might happen. Cover Image by kalli gruen from Pixabay Discord Image by Digital Photo and Design DigiPD.com from Pixabay

Ganzo and Seel , the two of them were in the royal army and the rule the Families of the East and West respectively, they controlled the country using their influence around the Kingdom. They agreed to continue ruling the Kingdom under the Nobility System which was not to be changed easily. In this Kingdom in which Magic (Gaibo) is everything, there are 4 main families, 1- The Eastern Family ( Ganzo Family ) 2- The Western Family ( Seel Family ) 3- The Northern Family ( Nabako Family ) 4- The Southern Family ( Kanti Family ) Each of these families rules their own land and under them there are smaller families that declared their loyalty to the ruler family of the land. Each Family has a single ruler called the Father. When the father is to be changed for any reason, the name of the family is also changed after the name of the new ruler. Since the Kingdom relays on Magic (Gaibo) – will be discussed later- each family has their own Magical Techniques and Skills that you will obtain if you have the blood of this family. These Skills are initially unlocked by saying specific words for each Skill. The public –not noble- are capable of doing the Gaibo Skills but only ordinary skills that worth nothing in wars. Along the Kingdom, Medical Guilds are scattered. These Guilds are usually used by the noble families that hire them to heal the injured warriors. Noble families also send their daughters to these Guilds to learn The Skills of Healing.
