《Ringmaster's Ambition》Interlude 2: How Does He Know
Advertisement
I can't breathe right now. I'm scared. How... how does that monster know?
I've been monitoring him for the past three Arcanian year cycles. At first, I thought that he'd regressed into a mind of an infant, but his late-night escapades during the recent year have shown that everything that he was doing was probably a mere facade. He acted as if he was no different from an ordinary infant, but his experienced craftiness surfaced once more when he monitored the rooms and contents of his own home. I watched him from afar as I see through the walls of his own home for almost two years. As I was even about to report to the Chief Keeper that there seemed to be no trace of him having his past memories, that maybe the beast's mind could not handle the void caused by natural conception, he suddenly starts acting as if he was no longer the weak and lazy infant he was supposed to be. How could he act like a child for almost two years without revealing himself? Was he aware that he was being monitored?
Although, I eventually thought that this may be his natural curiosity for things; that his restlessness as a growing infant may have fueled this nightly residential exploration, the sudden thoughts in his head as he finally left his house for the first time made me shudder, finally confirming my greatest fear and worry.
'Hello, is anyone watching me or reading my mind right now? Notpil, if that is your name, are you watching right now? Yeah, I know your name! If that dream was actually really whats happening behind the scenes, then I'm aware of it!'
What prompted this!? Was he aware that he was being watched by the Keepers this whole time!? And the fact that he knows Notpil's name... Keepers would only reveal their true name within the Realm of Keepers, so if he knew of this fact, then that would mean that he was the outsider peering through that day the Lord Progenitor made his order! Lord Progenitor did mention that someone was spying, but he could not determine who. So it was this monster all along! I have to tell the Chief this instant! This may be a dereliction of my duty and sentence, but this is definitely critical information I have to share immediately.

I then initiated a [Realm Transfer] but my requests for a transfer had no response. What's supposed to be the problem?
"Look what decided to drop from the higher realms."
A sudden sarcastic comment jolted me to vigilance. Before I could react, I immediately lost all control of my bodily functions. My senses started to dull until all I could hear was an exchange between a man and a woman.
"Tyrian's [Celestial Detector] really works wonders. He really thought of everything when he decided to install a miniature one in almost all of his inventions"
"He did say that Celestials do provide a strange signal that is unique only to them. I'm amazed those beings high up haven't found out about this"
"Tyrian did say they are rather preoccupied with something at the moment. Something to do with an anomaly? Anyway, what did we catch this time?"
"Let me check... A Keeper, named Amonos"
"A Keeper? What are they doing way out here in the countryside? I thought they never leave their realm?"
"Don't ask me, we might as well bring this up with Tyrian later"
I then hear one of the two slowly approach me and pick me up while I was still in my frozen state.
"Well Amonos, seems to be your unlucky day today"
That was the last thing I heard. Then I completely lost consciousness.

Nero Zero
Monsters plagued the lands for too long. No matter if one had fangs, beak, teeth, skin, fur, or feather, or was tall, stout, or diminutive, the people suffered. Until the Gadgeteers came with a device that could allow people to fight back. Powered by one's own magical power, feeding off of monster Essence, the Arbitrium bracer turned the tables. It also changed society. Strength of one's level cap was all that mattered. The strongest were Kings and Emperors. The weak or those too poor to afford the marvelous device, destitute. And so it has been for millennia. All that mattered was one's level cap. High, low, a fate decided the moment the strange contraption came alive. Too high and you were a threat to those interested in keeping the status quo, a weed to be nipped before it could grow and take root. Too low and you were nobody, fated to be a bit more than a simple farmer. What if someone, somewhere, came up with a zero for their level cap? Unable to use Essence, unable to level up. On all of recorded history, it never happened. Until it did. In a small village of fur-less and tail-less ape-beastkin, a boy found out he was uniquely handicapped. Nero's level cap was Zero. But he'd never let that stop him from reaching his goals. ------------------------------------------------ All stories have already been told. We merely reuse elements from them. From Joseph Campbell's Monomith to Stephen King's advice, and that encyclopedia of tropes you've visited, fiction has been dissected and reassembled countless times. One will surely find elements inspired on other works here. Just like cooking from basic ingredients, the recipe and presentation is what really matter. This is a fantasy adventure, of someone that goes from a zero to a slightly bigger zero. It will have romance but no harem. Cruelty but with hope dimly shining ahead. Lightweight where it can be, heavy where it must. Thanks for reading. Cover Credits (The cover is CC-BY-NC-SA): Steampunk Spider Bracer, by Daniel Proulx. Three Hundred Years After The End Of The World
Three hundred years after the end of the world as humanity knew it, the gears of an old plan slowly begin to move again, as a group of self-imposed reincarnators, along with their equally unlikely companions, gather once again to set things right... but does the world they plan to restore need, or even want, their help? Follow the misadventures of an eclectic bunch of genius misfits as they attempt to assemble and fix the world they accidentally devastated in the past. ~~~ Author's note: This is actually the first volume of a novel I wrote nearly a decade ago for the VNDB discussion boards, taking inspiration from the random off-topic ramblings that characterized the golden age of the community. After sevear years and countless rewrites, it is pretty much unrecognizable, but while it is not fit for professional publishing (due to the fact that several fragments and older versions are still out there on various forums and blogs), I decided it is a waste to just let it sit idly on my hard drive forever. As such, I decided to share it somewhere where people could maybe appreciate it, so here it is.

A series of Transmigrated Misadventures.
This is an original story about a sadistic and scheming human and his defective sometimes malfunctioning cube about how they travel to different worlds with different settings where they make people's lives miserable. Zhang Fei was anything but a normal person. He was a sadistic human who made the lives of his book characters quite miserable so when he died he was bounded to a system by The voice and entered the realm network. He got a second chance at life and could now practically make the character's lives a living hell but he soon found out that there is a downside to being a sadist as well. that's all folks , so the novel is a bit different from the normal system novels you read, the Main charachter isn't a good guy like in most novels, well he isnt a bad guy either, he is just a sadist. But the point is i tried to make the story as different as i could while still keeping the system/trnasmigration formula with it, so i don't know how you will interpret the story but i hope you still read it and enjoy it. i am not chinese so i might have butchered up the chinese names in the novel. and first time writing so if its a little bad please forgive me. And almost forgot any constructive criticism is appreciated. as it helps me know what i am doing right and what i am doing wrong and i have also posted the same story on wattapad.com. enjoy. Arc 1- [The Cube, The Sadist and The Villainess.] (COMPLETED) Arc 2-[The Lonely Island] (ONGOING) Writing in Quotation marks-"For dialogues of characters" Italic writing- For inner monologues and thoughts Bold writing in brackets- [For the dialogue of system]
