Draven sat in his room. His head pounded. That was the first time that he had used Chaos, and the drawback was already so painful. Truthfully, in the moment that he had fought Jarrett, he would have felt nothing upon killing him. He had realized something over the past few days living as Draven- something very important. He was no longer the man that he was before- when he speaks, terrible things often come out of his mouth. He had not meant to berate Jarrett like that. However, in the heat of the moment, he felt a chaotic urge. This is proof that he had not been merely transported into Draven’s body, but he and Draven’s personalities and experiences had completely merged. On top of that, the Chaos Sorcery was certainly impacting his personality. He was the insidious Draven of this world, and he was under the constant mental assault of chaos. He had to find a way to retain his morality before it was too late.
“Lord Draven.”
Cornella had chosen to enter his room. She had decided that, whether she would be killed or not, she would finally tear into Draven. The despicable man, who killed one of her friends for nothing, abused her mercilessly, and did nothing but waste away in drugs and alcohol, would finally know what she thought of her. Despite her always remaining loyal, hoping for him to one day awaken from his personal hell that he had created, and adjacently awakening her and the other tormented servants from theirs as well, she had finally given up. This man had no redeeming qualities.
However, it was fate.
In this pivotal and emotional moment of the story, Draven looked back at Cornella. For the first time since they were kids, Cornella saw something of note in Draven. The look in his eyes could only be described as that of a tragedy. Draven looked at the skin on his hands.

“Sometimes, even after all this time, my hands burn.”
Cornella’s chest sunk. It brought back the feeling that the girl had in her heart the first time she had met Draven. Her being six years old, and Draven being five, she was introduced as his personal maid. She bowed genuinely, which resulted in him scoffing at her. She wondered why he had been so rude, or if he was displeased with her. However, later that day, she had been following a maid to continue learning her new duties, and was boiling a large pot of stew. Upon order from another maid , she picked up the pot and walked it toward the destination. However, with a trip of her clumsy feet, the stew flew into the air. Cornella stared at the falling scalding soup in a daze, before shutting her eyes in panic. However, the inevitable sensation of fire on skin never came. She slowly opened her eyes to yelling from the other maid.
“L-Lord Draven…!” Draven, who had coincidentally been passing through for a piece of his favorite cake, had used his hands to shield Cornella’s face. The rest of the stew had gotten on her clothes, but considering the thickness of the material, the pain was negligible. Draven’s hands, however… When asked by his father how he got his injuries, he said that it was him that tipped over the pot in his own error. Cornella, and the other maids, could say nothing- they were afraid of being a human meal for the Night Vampire Family for the blunder. Draven had both instinctually saved Cornella in the moment, and premeditated her protection from the family.
Cornella had known Draven, from the first day that they had met, as a man who was unable to display affection in public- and lived to hide his kind heart from others.

To Blunt The Sharpest Claw
The Velvet Paw of Asquith Novels are a series of New Fable genre novels that involve cats and dogs and high adventure and romance and espionage and food-fights and hotels and explosions and car chases. With large casts, exotic locations and an absurdity only possible in the absence of human characters, the Velvet Paw of Asquith Novels blend Wind in the Willows with James Bond, though with more cafes and fewer badgers. This submission is the third title in its Morigan Trilogy, beginning two-thirds of the way through the series' longest adventure yet. Here's a quick recount of what's happened so far: When Oscar Teabag-Dooven, a Velvet Paw of Asquith, is ordered to investigate how a mysterious poet, the Ar'dath-Irr, is able to travel instantaneously around the world, two very bad things happen. Firstly, he meets Lydia, an insane librarian who punches everyone in the face, and secondly, the Ar'dath-Irr reveals he is intent on taking over the world. Although this second thing might be considered worse than the first, Oscar feels differently following Lydia’s destruction of a cafe, a library and his face in one afternoon. In comparison, thwarting world domination just seems easier. Along with Binklemitre, a fellow Velvet Paw of Asquith, and Lydia, Oscar infiltrates the Ar’dath-Irr’s realm of dark poetry to discover the dog not only intends wrenching the world apart but has no intention of cleaning up afterwards. As a result, Oscar decides it’s all too hard and goes home to have a bath. After lots of arguing and the sort of food fight that posh restaurants were invented for, Lydia and Binklemitre convince him that they must stop the Ar’dath-Irr for several reasons, one of them quite serious. A vibrant cast of characters collide as Oscar, Lydia and Binklemitre battle the Ar’dath-Irr and his disciples in an adventure involving exploding cafés and appalling hotels, car chases and inadvertent surgery, dreadful poetry, lots of arguments and at least one temper-tantrum, all of which draw the three into dark and convoluted corners of a world they weren’t aware existed. Moreover, any chance of sitting down and discussing things over some buns disappears when Lydia punches the Ar’dath-Irr in the face. This results in her having a psychotic episode and Oscar getting run over by an ambulance. Although Binklemitre suffers neither, he witnesses both, which is almost as dreadful, though not nearly so messy. An enormous battle ensues, followed by a dinner party and then everything explodes.
