《Restarting life as a peasant》Chapter 27

In a week I went to ten different villages, finding 60 volunteers. I was going to meet them at a meeting point a few kilometers away from my base next week. Also I hired 3 bards for acting as spies on my behalf, nobody suspected them while they came and went and they were rather willing to work for me the moment they heard the sound of gold coins.
I quickly returned to my village of Bakerville. I needed iron ore, a lot of it. In the mine a surprise awaited me, goblins were made a base out of mine. Last time I left them there were only seven goblins which were at least two months ago. But now there were at least fifty. What surprised me more was they even built their own rudimentary forge. Making crude iron tools there. When I got near the mine goblins got angry they had pointy sticks and knife like tools made out of crude iron and stone. They looked like they were about to attack me but a voice got heard. A bigger goblin among them appeared. He was 1.60 meter tall, and unlike short and stubby goblins he was sleek, just looking like a goblin on the head and on the green body color. Unlike only loincloth wearing goblins he was wearing a hooded cloak and pants. He carried two nicely made black daggers, his eyes looked very intelligently. I assumed he was some sort of metamorphosed goblin from somewhere far away because I never heard anything like him.
I spoke to him “Who are you, what are you, and what you want from me?” He smirked with a cocky and jarring voice he spoke “I, human, I am the master of assassinations, I am the terror of the land of Fullise I am Gezek the killer, assassin of the hobgoblins.” I answered “Fullise is a rather faraway place, why are you here?” Truth to be told I was an uneducated peasant but because I never heard of such a creature or such place I assumed he was from somewhere far away. I thought to myself ‘So there are hobgoblins here on this planet too.’ He said “Enough talk, Hunter don’t talk with the prey”

He extremely quickly gathered mana, and while doing that he quickly turned the white mana with blue hue into a dark black-purple mana, and he stepped. I just released a kinetic push around me when he did that. I read enough fantasy stuff when I see a shadow step, flash step or whatever instant appearance trick called in this world. As expected he disappeared the moment he stepped and appeared behind me but he pushed. My push threw him two meters away. But he gracefully landed. He was agile, I unsheathed my knife and got ready for a fight. He spoke “What kind of mage are you? I’ve never seen an unseen push like this.” I said “I never seen your magic trick too, how do you do it?” He was dumbfounded by my question. “I don’t use magic, mage. I am not a mage. Like the human knights of yours I have abilities.” I didn’t know knights had abilities too. The strongest person I saw fighting was Bruce and I never saw him using anything like it, he probably didn’t need to use those powers against a few thugs though. I was expecting to be overpowered with my magic trick. But if knights having this sort of abilities is the case my dreams of being overpowered is over.
I needed to learn this knight's special abilities stuff, and learn it quickly. I had no counter against this in my plans. But knights having abilities made sense. If they didn’t have ways to counter mages, mages would have overthrown the knight based nobility and be only nobility. Mages already had nobility positions and power but if anyone couldn't stand against them they would be only nobility.
I started to ask questions “Of course I know about knights, but what I wonder how this powered people thing works for goblins?” He looked at my face and said “I don’t know how this stuff works for humans too, but I never asked a human about that.” I said “ They don’t talk with their prey too” He grinned and said “touche” He said “I assume you know this but goblins are born and grow fast, but we are dumb and weak in the first phase of our existence, among the strong who can successfully get feed enough start a metamorphoses process, and become hobgoblins. And in the true goblin territories we have nothing to do

with these weak creatures you call goblins. We train our weaker of our kind to fight in masses and arm them with sufficient weapons. While they distract the enemy we, the hobgoblins and our further metamorphosed forms do the real damage.” I thought to myself ‘So they constantly evolve like pokemon’ and I said “Does every hobgoblin have the abilities?” He said “Of course not, if that was the case we would erased the human scum from face of this world, even every knight don’t have the abilities, how can every hobgoblin can be that way,” I felt somewhat relieved, Alfred clearly didn’t have any powers so most of his knights might lack them too. I asked again “So how can you have the ability, what is this ability called?” He said “It's called shadow move, and I was born with it, but using it I had to have a hard training, many years of suffering, and I become a hobgoblin assassin, a great title, my dream” I said “What happened?” He was about to cry “They exiled me, I can never return, I had to build a new life here among the savage of my kind, they are like animals.” I said to him, “I assume you would like to have more hobgoblins around you, and for that you need more food right?” He nodded “We can help each other.”

Touch
Touch is a story about a boy named James, and his friends: a group of young, superpowered people brought together by trauma; all trying, in their own ways, to come to terms with what that trauma means to them and who they want to be in response to it. This is a learning process, and mistakes are made, but they grow, learn, and adapt to these difficulties in ways that some might say only young people can. While it may look it at first, this is not intended as a sad story, merely an honest one. I wanted to make the characters human, and unfortunately, that means that difficulties hit them in very real ways through the story, but then again, they have some equally human moments of warmth between one another as they grow. Triggers: Explores the aftereffects and recovery process of sexual abuse, and some other forms of physical abuse. I like to think I avoided making it edgy, but you deserve to be informed. Some readers have told me that it can feel a bit too real at times. A bit too honest. If you like what you read, feel free to comment or review. I like the feedback. ***This story will contain lite-litrpg elements, mainly character pages and a town page. There will also be settlement building and adventuring, missteps and achievements. But one thing it definitely won’t have is a harem. Nor will it have an overpowered MC. Contains mild cursing.*** ***feel free to critique my writing and offer input. This is my first venture into writing. I've always enjoyed litrpg/gamelit books. I feel like I write how I talk, so it may be a little different. You won't hurt my feelings if you see something wrong or out of place! *** ***What follows is a condensed part of chapter 1. Enjoy!*** Drew Cooper is thrust into a new, unfamiliar world. Waking up in his sweats and t-shirt near what seems to be a forgotten path through some woods, he struggles coming to terms that he's no longer in his apartment. As he tries to cope with his new reality, he hears a horse coming down the path. He hides behind a nearby tree dreading what may happen next. As the horse approaches, he sees a man walking next to it. The horse is burdened with packs and gear. When the man nears, Drew nearly panics. He has a large sword strapped to his waist, obviously a fighter. He continues to hide as the man slowly passes only for the man to stop a dozen meters past his hiding spot. "You may as well come out, ya know. You weren't as well hidden as you thought," the man stated matter-of-factly, letting the horse’s reins go and putting his hand on the hilt of his sword. Slowly and scared for his life, Drew raised up and walked from behind the tree. "I-I'm sorry. I wasn't planning on attacking you. I-I don't know where I am. I heard your horse and hid. I didn't know what you'd do if you saw me. I'm sorry," he nervously blurted out. A minute passed. Then two. The man seemed interested with Drew and stepped closer, eyes squinting as if trying to see something. "What's that on your shirt? Is that. What is that? Is that, Pac-man?" The man was visibly shaken while pointing at me. Looking down at his t-shirt nervously, "Yea. Yea. I woke up here a few hours ago I think. 3 maybe 4 hours. I’ve just been sitting here. Where am I? What's going on?" Drew asked. "That's not important right now," the man replied. " What's important is where you're from. What year is it?" "What year? April something 2020. Why? What's going on?" Drew continued now worried. The man was taken aback. After a few moments, he seemed to calm himself some. The man sighed and looked at Drew in earnest. "Well, I've got good news and bad news for ya. Bad news is you're not on Earth anymore. Good news is you happened to run into me and not someone else. You’re either really lucky, or it’s fate we met in these woods, and I don’t believe in luck." The man continued to walk towards Drew while talking and put out his hand. "I'm John Mitchell from St. Louis or thereabouts. You’ve got nothing to be scared of by me. Walk with me and let’s talk."
8 94The Head That Wears The Crown
It's a tale as old as time. Boy goes to funeral. Boy gets sucked into a different world. Boy has to lead a settlement. Boy has to lead a settlement? Boy has to lead a settlement. This is a story about that settlement, and some other stuff. Maybe. Disclaimer: Not sure if it qualifies enough for a gore tag. There is a description of someone's death somewhere in this, but I don't think it is descriptive enough to justify a gore tag. Disclaimer part deux: I initially started writing this as background for another story but got so into it I just ended fleshing it out a bit. Disclaimer part tres: People love reading disclaimers don't they? It's why I've included so many. They're just for you. Disclaimer part four: I know, this is getting egregious. You're starting to find it less funny. Just wait till the twentieth disclaimer, it will start being funny again. Disclaimer part five: I'm kidding, this is the last one. I don't promise I'll read every comment or message, but I certainly welcome your feedback. Disclaimer part six: I lied, it wasn't the last one. I wrote this story without breaking it down into chapters. It just goes, that means that the chapter ends when it ends, not when there is a convenient break in the story. That means that it's very annoying for you as a reader since chapters can end mid sentence. Hah! Sucker! Disclaimer part seven: Get ready for slow updates. Who knows when this will continue. Toss it on read later and come back in fifty years. Disclaimer part eight: Cover Photo by Arthur Ogleznev on Unsplash
