It was the usual breakfast scenery of Annatashya’s place. Selv, Nely, and Annatashya were surrounding the table, enjoying the bread with their favourite beverages. A tea with calming fragrance for Selv and Annatashya and a fresh apple juice for Nely.

“How’s today’s tea?” Annatashya asked.

“It’s great. It tastes a little different than usual, but it has this refreshing after taste which’s great to eat the bread after.”

“Glad to hear that. I tried using a new imported leaves, thinking it would suit your taste,” she said with a delighted smile Then taking a sip herself. “Maybe, I should ask Vincent to bring more here.”

“Don’t bother him too much. I heard he’s having a hard time controlling the goods so it wouldn’t damage our economic while keeping the dissatisfaction at bay.”

While the independent town had all the necessary available and could make most of things around, it was but a town located on one location. There were products limited to certain areas that had the just right temperature, humidity, or bacteria or it won’t grow. The had no land or leisure to try growing those on this land.

Not wishing too much was the important lesson here, but humans just cannot live without doing that for time to time. The first one to pull out his hairs when it went wrong was Vincent who oversees the town in Selv’s place.

“Well, it’s his job to listen to the voice of people living here. What does good from letting him has it easy?”

She said a good argument. But, when he thought it was supposed to be his job, he can’t help but want to lessen the man’s job, even by a little.

“Sure. It’s his job. You have all the right to do that. Only after you finish the whole bag, you understand? I do like it, but taking time enjoying it a little by little is the way to enjoy a luxury. Don’t you agree?”

“Sure. I’m all opinion with you. Luxury is a luxury because you cannot enjoy it all the time. That’s why I’m thinking of enjoying this tea and my times drinking it with you from the start.”

She sent him yet an another unexpected ball. Selv had almost choked on his tea because of it. He looked at her only to receive a teasing smile.

“B-by the way, what are you going to do today, Nely?”

He forcibly changed the topic to the other person who was silently enjoying her apple juice.

She stopped drinking, sending a disagreeing look at him. He was unsure whether it was for his inappropriate escape or just interrupting her sweet time.

She told him only after regretfully put the glass down by making signs with her hands. Through Annatashya, he was able to receive her words.

“Pierre’s place? I see. You made some friends there. That’s good.”

He praised her, rubbing the hairs she had spent a good amount of time tidying in the morning, making a mess out of it.

Stop it, she protested, pushing his hand off her.

“Oops, sorry about that. Let me help you with that.”

As he saw on how Nely grumpily tidying her hair, he offered a helping hand to make up for his mistake. Without waiting for her reply, he thrusted his hand to Annatashya, receiving a brush, and brushed her hair. It was here he surprised her by showing one of many skill he had learned through his long live.

He was not crude and unskilful like she had thought. Or rather, he was darn good at it!

“Surprised? Live long enough and you would learn a thing or two people wouldn’t expect you to,” he said, boasting with a proud look.

He had done people’s hair, both male and female, many times. More than enough to be skillful at it. He didn’t thought many of those to be useful over the course of years, but the skills one had learned were hard to forget. When he realized, he could do almost everything.

“There you go. Good as before.”

It didn’t take long for him to finish. The Result was as his statement.

It was good and all, but as a female, Nely felt a little complicated. Annatashya sent her a sympathizing look, having experienced the same thing before.

Selv looked at the warm exchange and he too felt warm. Things had finally calmed down after the whole incident. The peaceful day returned for Selv and everyone related. Of course, not everything returned back to how it should be. There was another scar on Selv. People died. Nely had a traumatic experience.

it would be impossible to return everything. But, nevertheless, their peaceful day returned, enough to have a relaxing breakfast.

He, too, knew a peace was nothing but the moment where things were on the top of a rotating wheel. It moved in a circle until it went down, where peace changes into trouble, and up again where peace awaits. It moved slowly even now. But, the time of falling was not now.

Until then, he would enjoy this fleeting moment.

“About today,I'm also thinking of going to the church.”

“FInally awakened to the path of praying to God, I see. But, who does a god pray to?”

“Spare me the harsh joke. I kept telling them I’m nothing as divine as that and just a human with longer lifespan than others. Anyway, it’s about the thing with Nely’s curse. As expected, there’s no useful information available from the books here. Asking someone would be good, but there aren’t many demons who knew of the land of demon alive now. Moreover, it’s current state.”

The demons, although have longer lifespan than humans, were not immortal. They died of natural cause just like humans when their time come. Few a hundreds of years had passed since the demons immigrated from their land, most of them had reached their time, leaving their descendants on this town. Out of the demons he knew, Pierre was one of the oldest still alive. He should know more than enough.

“So, I’ll be accompanying you today.”

Nely didn’t look all in for that idea as she was not that happy with it.

“Err, do you mind me going there?” Selv asked, not having a clue on what he did wrong.

Not particularly, she replied. But, her sulking face betrayed her words, confirming that there was something going on here.

He sent a look at Annatashya only to receive a shook. Even she was not aware of this. This could be a trouble, but there was nothing he could do if he didn’t know what it was about.

Furthermore, going there will let him know about it. Selv took this into account as he departed with her after finishing breakfast.
