《Mage of the Abyss》Chapter 11 ~ So That is Why I am Here
Advertisement
In a broad daylight, screeching with the black wheels on the city streets, two men are loading up their gun and tech in preparation for their plan.
“You sure she’s there?” asked the tall muscular man, Malek, the person who gave Siola the gun she never uses.
“Yes, boss. Just around that corner. The boys from the third island saw a girl walking up to a store and bought one of those gaming consoles.”
“So, she might still be playing now?”
“It’s possible, but no guarantee, boss. It’ll be hard when she’s still playing, thanks to the shield of the capsule, but we can still wait there since nobody will come after her.”
“Hope you’re right. We’re here.”
The men stepped out of their car while carrying their guns. They wore casual clothing while the tall one wears slightly open clothing, a sleeveless to show off his other guns.
“Wait, holster that thing. Wouldn’t want to jump on her too soon, she got a good aim on you last time.”
Just by remembering it, the guy shivers as he strokes his metal butt.
They found the rundown building Siola was in, “All right, get ready,” said Malek.
His partner nodded.
Upon entering through the door, they found an unexpected appearance of another person just standing there. Staring at Siola in the capsule.
A young woman, with a surrounding drilled black hair that is being tied together at the back, polished black nails, a revealing black leather outfit, and a black cross with a skull strapped on her lower belly and the choker on her neck.
She must’ve heard the noise coming from the door and yet, she did not pay attention or reacted to it at all. Malek stopped his partner from moving too harshly, and both of them have gotten nervous about the young woman in front of them.

She is just as tall as his partner and noticeably taller than Siola herself.
“Ahem, sorry for intruding, but may I ask who you are, young miss?” Malek asked as he approaches closer to the young woman.
However, the young woman didn’t respond.
“Ahh, you might be wondering who I am, but I’m not anyone suspicious or anything. I lent the girl over there a gun and I’m just here to check on her, thought I’d give her a better one instead.”
Her head tilted for a moment, and that was enough to make the two men jolted in response, Malek is close enough to grab her from behind now. But then, she turned her head slightly as she spoke in a muffled voice behind a black mask, “You…” her dark brown eyes narrowed as she looked up to him in the eye, “Gave her a gun?”
For a first response to be a question made Malek sweating in nervousness, “Well yes, I thought it’d protect her. Especially, in this kind of—”
*BOOM*
Swirling air rotates in a slow-motion as the back of the delicate fist of the young woman was sent into the six-pack abs with such an explosive impact, rendering Malek to have a mixed expression of both pain and shock as his eyes widened.
*Bwoosh *Bwoosh
Air flows in a circle of the young woman’s left elbow and wrist, cutting her flesh but no blood coming out of them. A metallic hard material can be seen inside. When she aligns her hand straight up, her entire forearm detached itself from her elbow and propelled to Malek’s jaw.
*BAM*
With that impactful force hitting him directly in that part, several of his metal teeth flew out of his mouth with his entire body slightly floating for a single moment as the young woman’s forearm fling in the air.

*Bwoosh *Bwoosh
Several more air gushes out of her right arm, cutting several parts of her skin, and this time, they’re glowing so brightly from the inside as she clenches her fist so tightly before sending it straight to Malek’s chest.
*BWOOOOOOOOOOOM*
The close to 7ft tall man flew and crushes the wall behind him, creating smoke. And as it clears up, the young woman grabbed her forearm whilst it still in the air without even looking at it and reattached it back to where it belongs.
“BOSS!!!” Malek’s partner screamed, he quickly turned around and pull the trigger of his bulky high-tech shotgun, but then…
*Clack*
“Huh?” it won’t fire, and when he looked up to the young woman, he found out why the gun won’t go off.
the young woman’s irises light up as her sclera going dark.
When his vision started to go staticky, “F-F-Fuuuuck…” the man loses control of his body, “Wh-why the suits…” struggling to stop his arm from taking the gun from the back of his pocket, “Made that thing public…”
He couldn’t stop himself from aiming the magnum revolver to the side of his head, “No-noo, please, please wait… I didn’t do anything, I swear. I was just—”
the young woman’s eyes going even brighter and brighter until black markings appeared on both sides of her forehead.
“Wait, no, no, NOOO!”
*BANG*
"..." sighing, "It was never been... public."
Silence came a moment later and the young woman went back to gaze at Siola who soundly sleeping in the capsule.
But then, appearing from the side further off the broken wall, Malek stood with some of his teeth grinding. Veins popping all over his head as his eyes turned all white, “Mithra!!!!” yelling as he charged with all his might.
*BOOM*
His head was blown to pieces before he can even reach the broken wall.
After staring at the sleeping Siola, the young woman slowly walked out of the house and a man in a completely metal body frame with a shrouded outfit saluted her with his fist on his chest.
“Take that idiot back home.”
He did not reply and simply nodded.
But before the young woman walked far, she raised her index finger, “And oh, don’t touch her. Just bring the idiot with whatever that thing is as is.”
He nodded once again with a slight bowing posture.
A flying car appeared in the sky, guarded by multiple bulkier cars full of armaments. Several agile tanks appeared and one even stomped the car that the two men had brought.
When the flying car descended low, the young woman propelled herself high, jumping several meters above, and grabbed the robotic hand that is waiting for her, another shrouded man.
But instead of going up, she rotates around as the car ascended to the sky.
Viewing the total security of the transport that is about to happen in the rundown building, she narrowed her eyes down with a tightened pain in her chest.
“Sleep tight, sis. I will never let you go again.”
She rolled herself into the car and they flew out of the sky.
On the other end of the view, Siola is there in her capsule, still sleeping soundly despite the extremely loud noises from the outside.
As she was brought into a large compartment, her story continues… after this word from our sponsor, me.

Colors blur into one another until my vision is completely white. All I can think is "Shit, not this again!" I hate being summoned. _________________________________ updates once a week until I get more time The idea for this story began in two places. One was the ridiculously rapid pace of gaining power in many novels. Both in games and in novels, I enjoy the struggle of the beginning character, why always the rush? The other was the way many monster or non-human MCs always seem to hurry to become human (again). It always felt like a cheap way to grant the character extra powers without the difficulty of writing a non-standard thought process. Thus I wanted to write the slow(ish) progression of a monster character gaining strength and intelligence, while remaining distinctly non-human. There are no stats, xp or systems, no reincarnated soul or completely formed being to start with - unless I want to make fun of those. While the MC 'evolves', the process takes months if not years to proceed step by little step. Sit down with me and imagine, what would it be like if...
