《Murder in Heliopolis: A Solarpunk Mystery》Author's Note

Thank you for reading Murder in Heliopolis!
I hope you enjoyed this solarpunk mystery, and that you’ll keep an eye out for the second part of the story, Devils in the Ruins. Once I have a decent number of chapters written for it, I’ll be sharing it as a new volume, so stay tuned by following this fiction to be notified when a new chapter comes out!
In the meantime, I’d like to thank all of my readers for giving this book a chance and reading it through, and I’d also like to thank all the readers who chipped in in the comments with their thoughts, suggestions, and questions in the comments.
What’s the plan for this story moving forward?
I’ll be doing some revision and edits in the future, so if there’s anything you want to point out, please don’t be shy to drop by the comments and let me know. As I write this, I’ve already started doing the proofreading and editing for the story.
One of the areas I want to focus on will be the solarpunk theme of the story. As the story progresses, you may have found that it starts off jam-packed with solarpunk worldbuilding, but that that decreases with each new chapter. The reason for that was that I was writing this on a day-to-day basis. I had no backlog, and I wrote it specifically for NaNoWriMo / RR Writathon back in Nov/Dec 2021. Now that the story itself has come to a close, I’d like to go back and add some more worldbuilding that fits with the fascinating solarpunk theme of the book.
Why isn’t this fiction marked complete?
You might have noticed that I’ve changed up the organization of this fiction so that it uses volumes! Murder in Heliopolis, was meant to be a standalone written just for Writathon/NaNo 2021, but I’m interested in continuing the story and seeing how I can wrap it up. Since Devils in the Ruins is the next part, I figured it would make more sense to group it together with Murder in Heliopolis using the volumes feature.

When will Devils in the Ruins be released?
I am still plotting Devils in the Ruins and would like to have some kind of backlog before I start sharing it, so it may take some time before the sequel is ready to start being published. In the meantime, I will be editing Murder in Heliopolis whenever I get the chance.
I will also keep updating this fiction with a set of worldbuilding pages – entries that give readers a little more information about various concepts, tech, and ideas in the story (like, for example, the Rinvestigator and the heligoth movement). I hope that you will enjoy these extra bits and pieces!
(If you have any requests, don't hesitate let me know in the comments.)
These entries will probably be shared less often than my usual chapter schedule. Moreover, while I can’t make any promises, I might also share some illustrations (making use of my amateur digital art skillz) now and then.
How many books are going to be in this series?
Originally, Murder in Heliopolis was meant to be a standalone mystery novel. I guess I bit off more than I could chew with the greater PATET & Devils in the Ruins plot line! So, I have begun working on Devils in the Ruins, which is the sequel that will hopefully bring the story to a close.
I want to read more! What are some of your other works?
Take a look at the post-chapter author note, which also includes the links to a range of other works you can find and check out!

Since ages past, the kingdoms of [Cuntersia] and [Wankeryl] have been locked in a stalemate of unending war. Recently, they have been in a conflict for [Kokaine], a resource that can only be found between the borders of the two countries. Revered for its ability to significantly raise the magical and physical potential of anyone who uses it, neither kingdom could afford to yield the vast fields of [Kokaine] to the other. As the two superpowers clash, a single hero emerges, bestowed with overwhelming combat ability and strength. Possessing the finesse to turn the tide of the war either way, which side would he choose? Or will he forge his own path of solitary conquest and get high by sniffing [Kokaine]? NOTE: This story takes place in a medieval fantasy setting with swords and magic. There are Elves, Beastkin, Orcs, and monsters as well. There will be a lot of lame jokes and names, please don't be offended. And remember to leave a review! This is just a joke novel, although it gets a bit more serious after the first few chapters. Credits to user Tanaka Tomoyuki for suggesting me the synopsis.

Zavier met Cosmic Consciousness after his death. He was satisfied with every system that Cosmic Consciousness exhibited, so he wanted all of them. Surprisingly, the Cosmic Consciousness obliged him. Zavier was reborn in an isekai full of magic and alchemy. Now, he had many routes to upgrade. Interestingly, to coordinate these systems, Cosmic Consciousness gave him the gift of being able to duplicate himself. He could clone a finite number of himself to manipulate these systems. Magus, Alchemist, Mesmer, Tamer, Hunter, Vampire, Werewolf, Dragonknight, Necromancer..... ----- It will be a story that focuses on combat and levelup but still has many mature contents. I've read a lot of fiction about cool systems, so I wanted to try one. So many amusing ideas popped up that I didn't know how to choose the best one. After a long time, I decided to blend them into one story. So the MC will have many routes to upgrade and, of course as well, many pretty female characters. I can't wait to share these with you guys!

Its been ten years since Seth was given his powers, ten years since his town was driven mad by that very same power, and ten years since its source was shunted into his head. A species of energy beings, a people filled with regret for what their entrance onto this world caused. Regret for the deaths that town perpetuated, the devastation they brought, the blow they served to the once proud heroes of this world. Heroes Seth now hopes to join, hopes to heal and atone to for what transpired. But their wounds run deep, their ire sharp, and their acceptance thin. And to top it all off... Seth's power is run far deeper than he knows, and sees his world in a light all its own. This series is my first foray into authoring, with two parts out of at best four if the readership stands. But part three will still book end nicely otherwise. And I'm not stopping till then. It is action heavy with varied and ramping up fight scenes through out. (Book 1 is heavy / Book 2 a little lighter) It is bloody in places, mildly gory in others, and heavily gory in simulated places. Nothing truly horrifying, I think, but be warned. It has trauma. PTSD is a major part of the story, but I will never trust that I got it completely right, so your mileage may vary on how believable or impactful it is. Lastly it has language. Swearing ebbs and flows as the story progresses and attitudes harden or soften. Sometimes bleeding through into the narration... somehow.

Its a very well defined formula: the world goes through ridiculous shift where the laws of physics go belly up while everyone gets a videogame status. the hero adapts to the system,
