《Elements of Reality》B2 Prologue- Birth

Oh? You’re back? Well, we should pick up where we left off, but, just in case you forgot anything since our last talk-
Hi, my name is Hiiro Kazuya, and I am a superhuman being capable of controlling Elements known as a Sage, and this is my story, just in case you forgot that bit.
You see, when I was younger, I disliked my first name, I only answered to it when my parents were nearby because we were all Kazuya’s…
I had a dislike for the word ‘hero’ and my name kind of sounded like the word, silly reason, I know, but it was my reason.
I didn’t like being called ‘hero’ because I didn’t think I was altruistic enough, didn’t think that I was kind enough to really be considered one.
I grew out of that phase, I’m now called Hiiro by my peers, thankfully, but I’d like to explain the day of my birth, to clarify some things.
From how my parents explained it to me, I was their little miracle.
It’s notoriously difficult for Sages to have children, similar to how Elves, members of the Fae, struggle to have children because even before they get stronger they have a base lifespan of two hundred and fifty or so.
Then, beyond that, my mother had an infection in the womb a few years before I was born, meaning that it would be difficult for me to be born without fixing that issue.
Medicine helped, but it would be risky to have a child in that condition, so my mother and my father searched for a way to have a child…
Now this was during the Fae Wars, a difficult time for humanity in general, but not all Sages were to be a part of the War as if they were too weak they wouldn’t really be of much help, meaning that anyone below six Stars had the option of refusing…

Not that many did, but my parents were only marginally helping if they happened to be near a battlefield… they were more focused on themselves, as many a Sage were and still are.
They ended up journeying to Jerusalem to meet with the King of Light during the Fae Wars, hoping that the world’s greatest Light Sage could heal my mother.
And it was a requirement, certain things just needed healing from a powerful Sage, as even Sage’s could be laid low by terminal illnesses and the like…
But the King of Light could heal my mother, under the condition that my parents prove their worth.
I’m not entirely sure what their task was, but it was during the Fae War that my parents gained their unique abilities, their ‘Diversities’ and gained a reputation as ‘the Kazuya Pair’…
And their achievements proved enough for the King of Light to heal my mother’s womb.
A few years after being healed, my mother had a baby belly, and I was born soon after.
They fought a war, so that I could exist… I only found this out later on in life, after my time at Elem High, and so I realized how… rude, I was being, denying my name unless around my parents…
Denying the name given to me by those who fought so that I could exist was dishonourable.
And so it was, that when I was born, I was granted the name ‘Hiiro’ using the old language of Japanese, written using the two ‘kanji’ for ‘one’ and ‘vividness’/‘colour’ so my name meant ‘one colour’.
I learnt what that meant in this year of my life, and to this day I find myself smiling when I remember that meaning, that wish my parents held for me…
They wished that regardless of the circumstances and events of my life, that I remain myself…
That I remain ‘one colour’.
