《Enter Darkness》Chapter 14

The blackness spread in a way that seemed alive, the converted Orcs stood before me and I stood there unmoving. My mind raced as I tried to figure out what in the world I have just done. The Orcs stood before me with a slight sway but no other movement. They were silent and their bodies did not even seem to be breathing.
"What is going on here? Did I really just take control of Orcs?" I was speaking to myself but one of the black skinned brutes grunted. "You did. We live to serve your will Master."
My mind seemed to split. My stomach sank and I wanted to throw up. I am many things but mind control was something that turned my soul.
I stood and turned to leave the orcs behind, unfortunately they followed me through the streets. Many eyed me as the orcs did not appear as the green skinned kin they were used to.
I moved into a tavern to drown myself in ale. The orcs barged in and forced a table to be evacuated. "A seat Master." The orcs seated themselves at the table and I moved to a different one.
The orcs grunted and joined me moments later.
"The hells have I done? What was that Darkness?" The orcs ignored my talking. I knew they had no idea. I was mostly talking to myself. It was all I could do.
I needed to find Blin. With luck she was sitting pretty with servants again. No she is a priestess, she will be helping urchins. I was just about to make my way out to explore this new land when a really angry voice burst out.
"Why the hell be Orcs wrecking me bar!" An angry dwarf came from behind the bar. A Blunderbuss in his hands stared me down.

"Shite." I looked at the man.
"Master Dwarf please ease your temper." I made to move slowly up. The orcs growled and looked at the angry barkeep.
"Keep your pets on leash boy. Whats wrong with em? Why are they black? The plague?"
I shook my head and for a moment i forgot who I was. Then with a snap I remembered.
I was Ven. A master assassin and feared by those who had trained me. Why was I acting like a coward? My arm lowered and I straightened. Something must have shown in my eyes because the Dwarf gulped.
"Listen now buddy. I be wanting no trouble. You and yours leave and nothing need doing." I looked him in the eyes and decided to not make a scene.
I moved silently and left the tavern. The orcs followed with grunts and growls.
I paused and looked at the orcs. "Have you seen a woman with odd features around? New and beautiful." The orcs stood silently and looked at each other.
"Master. No females have been seen that is odd or new. How did this female appear? Does she smell like you?"
I paused a moment. I had forgotten orcs had strong senses.
"Unfortunately no. But she smells of Lavender." The orcs grunt and nod.
"We will look for scent Master." The orcs split up and headed in different directions of the town. Taking my chance I made for the village gates and ran.
Something deep inside me was calling. A pull and a drive I had never felt the like before. My eyes moved over the ground and I began to feel like myself. A laugh escaped my lips and I realized it was the first laugh in years.
My feet carried me up to a rise in the hills and I looked around for the first time. I was lost but I did not care.

The sky was filled with stars and and I noticed a light moving through the nebulas. Thats right, there was a nebula in the sky. And a second moon in the sky.
"I was not expecting that." It was gorgeous. The first moon is large and beautiful with a sheen of gold on the rims. The second moon is smaller and with a Silver sheen.
There was a strobe and the night seemed to change. The ground is bathed in silver light and that made everything glow violet.
"A Planar night. Beautiful isn't it? Happens once every hundred years or so." The voice was close. Somehow I let myself get distracted and allowed someone to get close to me. Thrass would have killed me.
Looking over, there was a man in robes. Silver hair and eyes. His skin was tanned lightly and something about it made me uneasy.
"Hello there Child. Welcome to the Isle. I am glad I found you." The man smiled and would not look at me. He kept his eyes on the moon.
The sky shifted again and new stars filled up the night. A planet ringed with massive ice-like structures. Even where I stood I could see that.
"This occures every hundred years?" I asked. He was not a threat yet. But my body was now on high alert.
"Who are you? How did you sneak up on me?" I felt something move and the shadows around me seemed to grow darker. Something moving in the shadows. Something was watching us.
"You feel them don't you?" The robed man smiled. "The shadows. The darkness. They react to you. I am very glad I found you."
For the first time he turned and looked at me.
"Welcome home Dashin. Glad to see you well."
"Dashin. I feel I heard that word before. What is that?"
"Dashin. A Dashin is a Shadowling. A Voidwalker. One who is the master of Shadows."
I lifted a brow. That told me nothing and actually made me a bit annoyed.
"Use common please. I can not see what you are talking about." He noded.
"You are of the shadows. Or a Shadow Demon. Before you worry, it is not Demons in the same regard. They are Entities and creatures. Demons are of the Infernal and Abyssal planes of existance. The Shadows, or Daishin are beings of the Shadow or Umber Plane. You are the spawn of one such Entity. I suppose your mother or father had an ancestor that can be placed to the Umber."
"Father. My mother was a human. It might explain a few things. What if one of my parents was a pure Umber?"
The robed man stroked his chin. "Hmm. I suppose the two halves would war and fight for control."
I was growing concerned. "That sounds rather bad." He noded. "So who are you anyways?"
"I am an Umbre Priest. My name is Varol. A pleasure Child."

Dungeons Are Bad Business
Vee Vales has been kicked out of his home and directed to make his own way in the world. Along with his friend Alforde Armorsoul, Vee travels to the city of Oar's Crest. Once a prosperous and well-to-do city, Oar's Crest has fallen into depression and disrepair. After finding a strange stone that takes up residence in a tattered top hat and introduces itself as Reginald, Vee and Alforde decide to open a dungeon in Oar's Crest to revitalize the city and, more importantly, make some fleurs. [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] Author's Note: Dungeons are Bad Business (DABB) is a slow burn slice-of-life dungeon core litRPG citybuilder that's focused on the day to day experience of running a dungeon. There will be some action, but it won't be the focus of the story and Vee and his friends will usually overcome their problems with their minds and their pocketbooks instead of their weapons. Since I'm participating in the writeathon, I will probably be uploading chapters almost daily for the duration of the event. Thanks for reading!

How to have fun in an apocalypse (Rewrite)
After spending an unsavory amount of time in hell, our protagonist finally manages to escape the place that had kept him captive for so long... again. Unfortunately, even after plotting and planning for years, he ends up in a place not much different from the burning and agonizing Tartarus he once had to call home. Guts, blood, and carnage start to reign over Earth as soon as he set foot in it, much to his dismay. What use is it to cry over spilled milk, though? Tired of the monotony of endless torture, he steps into the world intending to have as much fun as possible. While others might try to raid the Orc Lord with as many people as possible, why not challenge him to an arm-wrestling tournament? The power of friendship will surely be on his side. Why hide from the big, bad wolf in one of your houses if wearing camo in plain sight should have the same effect? Now, making friends and going on adventures would be perfectly fine, if it wasn't for the fact that he hides a few more secrets than one might think at first. This is a complete rewrite! Due to being unsatisfied with the previous version, I have decided to work the story up, beginning from the older chapters! Version 2.0 includes: - enhanced writing and editorial skills - additional information and aspects to characters - minor deviation from storyline and improvements

Join him on his adventures as he must deal with menus, monsters, and mysteries in this litrpg fantasy. Thomas Goodwill was an average boy with an average life, all that changed when he woke up in a new reality. Now, out of his depth, damn near out of his mind, he must learn to survive in a game-like reality with no reloads, checkpoints, or save scumming. He does, however, have a drunk snake. Thank you for reading my first story, hopefully, the first of many to come. This will be my main story and is meant to help me practice and hone my skills as I slowly produce more complex ideas. It's a litrpg in which I want to only lightly focus on the mechanics as I don’t want to pad out the word count with math and number tables and while I want to add a few of my own twists here and there, overall I’m going to keep this story close to generic as possible so that I don't let my inexperience lead me into a corner. Thanks again to all willing to leave a review or some constructive criticism, without you I'd never improve. Unfortunately, Cover art is by me.
