《Battlefield Restart: Mortal God》Author’s Note: Dream Novel

You know… I'm probably one of the many authors on a Webnovel platform that never ends up finishing their works (because of one reason or another). It mostly has to do with life…
Writing an Action Fantasy sounds easy, but the more you see 'action' and 'drama' IRL, the more you get sick of it, and the more empty it makes you on the inside. You start to become numb…
Even though action is what I know best, writing it becomes harder because the world we live in is filled with so much useless bickering. Rather than trying to understand one another, we tend to overwhelm others with what we're trying to say.
It's basically like Twitter…
Someone says something bad/misguided/wrong or something similar, those who suddenly want to enact 'justice' make it their business. Without even doing the bare minimum in trying to understand what's happening, they take action by themselves.
Not by sympathising with the one who was actually hurt, but by retaliating 'for the sake of' another.
Which ends up hurting them even more…
Sometimes, someone who's crying doesn't want a hero to come fight for them. Maybe they just want someone to understand them. To say that things will be alright, even if they can't believe those words.
Even if it's superficial, those words help more than any 'nice guy' who has to make things about himself. The one who does deeds 'because they are right' rather than if it's actually appropriate.
That's just the danger of nice people.
They're so nice that they're above having to sit down and see the filth that bottles up in the victim.
The anger, hate, frustration, envy, and other mixed emotions that aren't 'right'… but are distinctly human.
They turn away from the ugliness as if working through those dark parts of life is somehow wrong.

…I've gotten severely off topic, so I'll step back.
The thing that I've been having a hard time wrapping my head around was whether it was hypocritical of me… Even though I hate violence IRL, to like violence enacted by fictional people.
I like fighting games and the like, but it somehow feels different to write with intent behind words.
I wouldn't want someone reading my stories to think that lashing out is the answer to everything.
Nor would I want the reader to be bummed out by a bunch of spiel about goodness and righteousness.
There's too little of any of that in the world.
People are moved by what they believe in, and are swayed by the people they put their faith in.
Something that's stopping me from properly imagining this particular kind of novel when writing.
Most the people I'd ever had faith in had left me behind one way or another… to the point I'm probably having a complex about it. The more I try to write characters who would be by my main characters side by the end, the more it feels wrong.
Like I'm telling a lie…
That those who would actually stay with you till the end don't exist, and camaraderie is fickle in nature.
So… Anyways, this is just my ramblings.
My dream novel that I WANT to work on seems so far from reach, I can't even begin to write it…
Updates will be slower until I figure this out.

Journeys in the Fairworld: The Gatekeeper
Lindsey Fluger was only slightly past eighteen. There was nothing particularly special about her, save that she happened to be the right person at the right time. When Lindsey is asked to join an expedition to another world she makes the mistake of saying yes, plunging herself into a sea of perilous adventure and dark intrigue. Journeys in the Fairworld is a fantasy anthology series set in The Fairworld, a magical realm existing in parallel with our own world which is governed by a group elfin beings known only as “The Good Folk”. These mysterious entities work in secret to keep the peace between the myriad of peoples and nations which dwell in The Fairworld. Complex relationships and bitter rivalries emerge against a backdrop of constrained resources and conflicting values to produce a world of high adventure and tangled mysteries. This novel is technically already completed, and I am currently in the final stages of proofing or editing. As such, there may be a few typos and errors here and there. The final version should be about 130,000 words long, which I will be releasing in stages as I continue editing. I'd love to hear your feedback and comments! If you want to read more stories from Journeys in the Fairworld, please checkout “Journeys in the Fairworld: The Brigand of Potham”, which is also available here on Royal Road Legends. https://www.royalroadl.com/fiction/19369/journeys-in-the-fairworld-the-brigand-of-potham

[Participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] This is a story about the newly-adult Calliope Smith having a terrible day that ends in her getting mysteriously teleported from Phoenix, Arizona to a fantasy world where her life is in constant danger. She considers this an upgrade. Someone evil is looking for her, and she doesn't know why. Someone who seems to know a lot about her has promised they'll help her, but she doesn't know who they are. All that matters to Callie is that magic is real and one way or another she's going to learn it. The end of the world is coming up, sure, but Callie won't need to worry about that. In fact, by the time she even finds out about it one of the doomsday devices will already be destroyed, and the authorities will be well on the way to dealing with the other one. It's fine. Everything will be smooth sailing. Almost certainly. Probably. Chapters are usually about 2500-3500 words, and the goal is to post 2-3 per week but I sometimes get busy or have some writers block. It's your standard portal fantasy / Isekai premise, but unlike some the main character's time on Earth and how she got pulled into another world will (eventually) be explored. Some slight GameLit-feeling stuff later, no menus or level-ups but there's something suspiciously like a skill tree when the magic system gets going. No number crunching, and while the main character will get to do some silly stuff she won't be a god like in some fics (and will in fact spend a lot of time being badly outclassed by her enemies). Some reader interaction, ranging from adding to the worldbuilding to occasionally making big important decisions about skill progression. Please note that the main character is flawed and impulsive, and will make some stupid decisions. That's part of the story, but I get that it's not for everyone. Trigger Warnings: Foster care system references, crappy parenting. Some mental health adjacent stuff, specifically the main character has some issues where she experiences varying levels of empathy and emotional vulnerability depending on the day (it's complicated and not meant to portray any real-world conditions). Occasional violence including mention of death and grievous bodily harm, but no detailed descriptions of gore.
8 61Villain To Be
Lady Emilia Rose Fireheart should have been the rival character in the game “Novelty of Nobility” but because the current Lady is a reincarnated person, she marvelously messed things up. -Inspired by the novel An Otome Game's Burikko Villainess Turned into a Magic Otaku and other similar works. -Cover art was googled. Well, the monsters depicted in this story were mostly inspired by Monster Hunter so... yey~

Thulla accidently entered a pocket dimension, while she was on her way to her new school of magic. Now she has to survive with her wit. budding magical abilities, and a good amount of luck. Will she make it out alive? And if she does how will this experience change her life moving forwards?
8 119The Novel's Unifier
Demons and humans are meant to fight each other, until one side perishes completely. Everyone thought that quote was correct, until one day, where a child of human and demon blood was made. His life was hell. While growing up, he belonged on neither side of humans or demons. But, along with his friends, he saved the world. That was just a story Danny read, once, a long time ago. So why the hell is he in it!? Slow updates, if I even update it at all.
