《The Aggresive Cheater》Chapter 08: Chaos and Blood

The noise of the storm outside dropped a little. The creatures turned to look at the remaining adventurer.
From my map I can see that this monster name is ‘Cursed Gnoll’ and the whole City is also filled with red dot.
The adventurers are terrified when the strongest of them got beaten just like that. Their hand trembling, then one by one they get slaughtered by the creatures, some of them even trying to run amids the chaos.
“Useless bunch of trash, can’t even hold them for five second.” I click my tongue. My wand dancing in the air. I cast ‘Walking Bomb’ then a light, red stream appear and enveloped the two adventurer that still fighting against the creature, and cast it once more on the adventurer that trying to run from the Cursed Gnoll.
A pity that the Cursed Gnoll is faster than him, it’s let out a loud battle cry and ruthlessly thrust forward it’s spear.
The Cursed Gnoll only thrust it’s spear once, but several deep cuts appear on the C rank adventurer body that now lifeless on the ground.
The Cursed Gnoll trying to find another prey, but something weird happen with the corpse of C rank adventure. It’s glowing with red light, followed by a devastating explosion, creating a crater with a diameter of 1 meter. The sight of the creature and C rank adventure can’t be seen anymore.
Two similar crater also can be seen in different places. The survivors become more terrified at this spectacle. They looked around for the one who use such sinister magic, their gaze stop and looking at me as if I was a monster.
“Looked like I’ve done something that I should not, *sigh. Better leave no survivor or it might come and bite me someday” my mouth curled into a cold smile.
Their face ashen as they hear my words. Some of them already running for their lives, but suddenly a group of cursed gnolls bloking their way out. This time it was nine of them.

From the outside can be seen red light blinking countless time from the window of the Adventure Guild, and the Guild exploded with big bang leaving pieces of what left of it scattered in the wind and fell like rain.
Inside the forest 4 km away from Kingshill City, there’s a space distortion, revealed a youth in black cloak kneeling, a red liquid dripping from his pale lips. Lying in a puddle of his own blood.
“Madness!” I spat my blood. “to think half of the adventurers would choose to rush towards me. They intend to bring me down with them ... I was careless”
“Is it the end of my life? .. Oh well, let it be. I'm dying now anyway and in pain and to make matters worse something is poking my head. It seems I can't even die comfortably.”
“Hey did you hear me?” a voice resounded behind me, poking my head.
“Why hasn't anybody save me yet? where am I? oh right still here.. alone, I don't want to die alone. Somebody please save me, anybody. Please, I'm so alone.”
“I’m here, are you listening?!” the voice sounds irritated.
“My vision is going dark, I can barely see the falling star, I wish that someone would come and save me, oh wishing star. I'm so exhausted, and hungry, I just want to close my eyes and sleep. Wait No, if I sleep it means the end. I musn't sleep. I must stay awake, but so tired, ah so tired. Somebody save me. Save me so I can sleep. I don't think I'm going to make it for breakfast.. Ahhh!”
“What are you doing?!” I glare at the figure who is kicking my head.
“That’s because you keep ignoring me!” retorted the cloaked figure.
“Don’t you see that I’m dying?!”
“Dying my ass! you only get a slight graze on your head!”

“What are you talking about? Look at this puddle of blood. I lost too much of blood, I know I’m not going to make it. I don’t even have a healing spell.” Half kneeling, I scoop some blood from the ground.
“It’s not blood.”
“What?”
“It’s not blood! It’s just some puddle of water left from the rain yesterday.”
“But it’s red.”
“Maybe because it’s mixed with your blood. There is no way someone who lost so much blood would be still alive!!”
“My vision is going dark.”
“Of course you are! It’s still night!!”
“Huh, Kana.. what are you doing here?”
“You just realize that it is me?”
“Y-Yeah, ahem. No, I know it’s you from the start. I was just testing you, see if you can stay composed in front of dying people, well good work.” I pat her shoulder cleaning my right palm from trace of blood and dirt.
“Why did you leave me alone?”
“I get bored.”
“What?!”
“Shh! Something here.” I cover her pink lips with my now dirty left palm.
“Cursed King Gnoll! It’s coming this way, and fast.” I look at my map.
“Let me fight with you.”
“Hah, you’ll just drag me down.”
“What did you say? I get the first place in last year tournament. There is no way that would hap-” before could she finish, I teleport her to the Academy library.
“It would be a bad idea if my EXP get shared among the party... maybe. Right... just in case.”
I cast ‘Barrier’ A pure, circle green blaze of energy cover my body.
I saw a huge shadow getting closer and closer. So big! 25 ft tall Cursed King Gnoll, it has the same appearance with other cursed gnoll except for it’s large body and one additional horn. It let out a loud Battle cry and swing it’s huge hand at me. But it’s blocked by my Barrier, creating a muffled sound and a crack appear on it.
“Not good.” I narrow my eyes.
I cast Fire Storm in the air as I hurled by the impact. a flame appear out of nowhere and engulf the monster and the forest nearby making it more intense.
I set my eyes to the ongoing storm of fire that keep getting bigger by each second. I even starting to get hot here. Fire storm is a second grade spell, similar with Fire Wall, but with a slight different purpose. Fire wall can be used to block the incoming spell.
“Is it too overkill? ... Nah it can’t be”
“ḓℊṧℊ﹩ḓ❡ ⅾƒẘℯℊℯяⓠω ω℮ʝẘḯ◎ℌεƒℌεℊ ṧḓⅾω℮ʝẘḯ◎ℌεƒℌεℊ℮ʝẘḯ◎ℌεƒℌεℊ℮ʝẘḯ◎ℌ O rage, come and destroy everything before me, Explosion!” As I finish my incantation, the flame that engulf the forest and nearby place get pulled toward the burnt King Gnoll, creating a palm sized flame with high density and then.. it’s explode with terrifying might.
I was underestimated the third grade spell. It should be used from far away, so I get blown and sent flying 10 meters to the sky then crash against a tree. A pure, circle green blaze of energy that cover my body cracked once again and vanished.
“Ugh.. it’s a good thing that I keep activating my Barrier, otherwise who knows what will happen to me.” I wipe the blood from my lips, and tap [Status] with my blood soaked finger.
“Heh, level 10.. worth the risk.” I set my gaze to the Kinghill City. Scream and cry of anguish can be heard even though I was 3 km away. “I forget my school uniform...”

In Pursuit of Bark's Finest
On the frontiers of transhumanity’s expansion into the galaxy thousands of light years from the light of Sol, things can get rather chaotic. There are countless millions of nascent interstellar nations securing their interests, pirate ships prospering off plunder and deniable mercenary work, dissidents setting up their own civilizations, and other groups all trying to push an agenda. When these groups crash into each other, the results can become extremely messy and convoluted. Recently, a frontier nation calling itself the Red Star Union has found itself at the focal point of one such complication. A freighter under their protection has been sabotaged, hijacked in interstellar space, and robbed of its cargo. This would be bad enough even if all it were carrying was luxury goods, but the freighter Nebula Plow was carrying more than just normal trade goods. Indeed, her cargo of Non-Orientable Wormholes for use in starship power plants was both very expensive and very, very dangerous. Now the Red Star Union has to worry about a pirate crew running around with several extra devices capable of converting matter into antimatter with negligible energy cost. With those, the pirates could be capable of inflicting untold damage if allowed to leverage their ill-gotten gains into a stronger position, a possibility the Union finds completely intolerable. Unfortunately, all that the Red Star Union has to go on for evidence is two names; that of the captain, and that of the ship. The Captain is going by the possible pseudonym of Fuller, while the ship is named Bark’s Finest. And thus the orders came down to the Union’s Bureau of Starforce Intelligence: find more information on these pirates, conclusively identify them, and figure out where exactly they’ve gone to ground so that the fleet can crush them before they get established. Of the many agents that the bureau assigned to this mission, one would happen to play an important role: Field Agent Madeline Zargosty. This is her story. This story is entirely pre-written, and will have one chapter released per week. If you want to read it all ahead of schedule and get access to some premium-exclusive bonus content, the entire book is available for purchase; links to the appropriate storefront pages will be posted at the end of each chapter. This story is also being posted to Scribblehub.
