《KillStreak》FINDING A CAR

My first priority should’ve been to find Stan, I knew that, but the fastest way I was going to do that was by finding a car, which, as always, was turning out to be much harder than I expected.
“C’mon, c’mon…” I muttered hopefully as I took a dangerous chance by breaking away from the safety of the tree line and headed for the lonely, abandoned gas station, “Please…”
I hit the rear wall of the two-car garage that was attached to the gas station and froze, my heart beating about a million miles an hour as I switched over to my crowbar and waited for someone to come running out through the doorway beside me.
No one came though, and after a solid thirty seconds of waiting, I let out a sigh of relief, switched back to my SVD, and rounded the doorframe, taking care to scan the corners of the concrete structure as I did so.
“Thank the Gods…”
There she was, some piece of crap grey minibus with a missing tire and a bunch of cracked windows, and I couldn’t help but fall in love.
At first inspection, it was clear that she had enough fuel in her to at least get me over to the next town, and while the other tires were slightly worse for wear, I was confident that they’d hold up long enough for me to either replace them or find a better vehicle.
Then I heard a gunshot.
It had come from the forest on the other side of the road, and obviously belonged to some kind of semi-automatic pistol.
“Watch what you’re doing, dumbass.” someone growled as I slid back behind the minibus and checked my SVD’s mag, “Last thing we need is to run into another group.”
“Hey, that last one was my fault,” the other guy replied as they came out of the woods, “how was I supposed to know that there were more people in that building?”

“By opening your Goddamn eyes!”
I didn’t give them the chance to finish their conversation, and instead took the opportunity to lean around the minibus, lock the one who was shouting in my sights, and fired two quick shots, one in the chest, one in the head.

The other guy, who was justifiably stunned by what had just happened, lingered in the middle of the road for a moment, before hitting the deck and firing at me with his pistol.
He was too slow though, and had given me enough time to go over to the other side of the minibus where I had a clean shot at him.
“Sorry,” I said as I waited for him to run out of ammo, “it has to be one of us.”
The firing stopped.
The shooter cursed under his breath.
I popped out of hiding.
He panicked.
I aimed.
He went to get to his feet.
I fired.

All you can rely on are mundane medical procedures to help you get back on your feet. And those don't come cheap! You can probably guess that injuries that in other worlds would be minor are rather costly in one where the priest class doesn't exist. What kind of dungeoneering community springs up in an atmosphere where a simple cut can mean lethal infection? How do dungeon crawlers find workarounds when conventional combat proves too dangerous?
