《Ignis》Chapter 36: Welcome Home

You feel the temptation to open your Third Eye and take a look with your Sight, but hold off on it. Instead, you master yourself, refusing to blink, and ask Stiehr point-blank "What do you think I should do?"
Stiehr flinches. You get the impression that he would blink if he could. "I..." His voice trails off, and he looks about to cry.
You wait patiently. This is something that he needs to work through on his own. He is free now, or as close to it as any Imperial Navigator can be, and he needs to know it. Not just intellectually, but also instinctively.
"I..." Stiehr's head falls back to the pillows, tears flowing freely down his scarred face. "I don't know. For so long, there has not been an 'I'. There were no decisions to be made, someone else always made them. It has been so long, I... I don't even have a name. I was once Stiehr Saurlance, but he died. In Kania, when the rift opened. Then there was Slave, staying alive by serving the cruel will of its Mistress. What am I now? Who am I now?"
You consider this for a long moment. Aunt Yasha opens her mouth, then closes it again when you twitch your head. You let Stiehr cry for a long moment. Finally, you speak. "You are free now, free to make your own decisions. I think the first one you could make would be to choose your own name. What do you want us to call you?"
Stiehr stares at the ceiling of the compartment, weeping silently. Finally, he croaks out something, almost too quietly for you to hear. You lean closer, and he repeats it, more strongly now. "Saor Dannan."
You nod approvingly, translating from old Eriesh in your head. "Free of the Dannan Clan. Welcome to our clan, to our family. Welcome home."

The Fate of a villain (But not really)
But to be honest, he doesn't really want to be one. Assigned that role by a bored god looking for entertainment, he struggles with the past. Seriously, how much of an asshole could a dead man have been? As an imposter, the new soul possessing the body of a certain Francis Rayleigh, he tries his best to change that past image of his. Its not all simple though. Just because of his pretty face, it doesn't mean that life bows down to him. And to top it all off, a god, no matter how bored they were, is still by most definitions a god. Ultimately, on the grand stage of the world, will the fate forced upon him prevail? Without burning any villages, and trying to be as peaceful as possible, he hopes to avoid those hands of fate. No evil empires dancing on his palm, no conspiracy to rid the world of intelligent life. Not even a superweapon to turn the world's lives into his slaves. Just a man, found on the weaker side of life, trying to live. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ NOTE: CONTAINS CROSSDRESSING, LGBT ELEMENTS It starts off really slowly, so take your time. Mostly just fluff, with plot sprinkled in. The action picks up in chapters 20+! Its somewhat episodic, but also a serial, if that makes sense. 8 201BEEADDLEDRUNG — Serial Bogeyman
By chance, the paths of a renowned hero and an infamous bogeyman intersect. Locked in a wordless battle from dawn till dusk, the two beat each other bloody before the monster asks why the hero has come to his dwelling. When the hero realizes that the bogeyman doesn't have what he seeks, he cuts the battle short and promises to return one day to slay his foe. The bogeyman accepts this pledge and demands that the hero remember his name: BEEADDLEDRUNG. After waiting for what feels like an eternity, BEEADDLEDRUNG realizes that he doesn't just want to finish that battle; he wants to be killed, and the hero is the only person he's ever met with the potential to kill him. Apparently tired of existing without hope of further evolution, the monster emerges from his lair in search of his fated executioner. Hi, and thanks for checking out my web novel! Right now my update "schedule" is erratic. I'm sure this will change if the story generates enough interest. In any case, I plan on completing it eventually.
