《Kobold Expansion》City song

The first bomb goes off. A massive explosion jets out from the lower left hole. Then the right bottom bomb explodes. Two massive holes are left in the mountain side. The top of the mountain is holding on by two points. I quickly move up to the holes, readying my bow and hiding behind the cliff side. Once the shelf of rocks and dirt falls on top the dragon I can confirm if it’s dead. Another bomb explodes, the rocks fall upon the dragon. I can hear it roaring. I peek over the ridge. The dragon is covered in earth. But it’s still alive. The mound of dirt pings it’s arm and body to the ground. It darts it’s head around looking for the attackers. I aim my bow for it’s eye. Deep breath, this is a long shot, aim and shoot. The string twacks against my wrist as the arrow flies. I don’t wait to watch where the shot lands. I focus on taking cover and reloading. The shriek of the dragon is enough confirmation that my shot landed. I poke out over the ridge again. We lock eyes. “You!” I let another arrow fly. He turns his head, blocking the arrow with his thick scales. “You insolent kobold. I’ll rip you to shreds and --” I send another arrow flying. He smartly closes his mouth. The arrow bounces off his teeth, landing in his gum. He flicks it out with his tongue. “What do you think you’re doing!?” He screams at me, keeping his mouth open. I ready another arrow and aim for the soft bits inside his mouth, but a light at the back of his throat causes me to stop. I drop the bow and run. He’s inhaling magic from the air. I dash and roll down the hill as a large column of fire shoots out of the hole. I can’t peek shoot him without my bow, but he can’t chase me without shaking the rocks off of him. I need to keep him distracted until the other bomb goes off. The other bomb! It should have gone off by now. Where is it? I look around. Even poking my head through the gap his breath attack made. The dragon scowls at me before redying another breath attack. I duck onto the ground. The bomb must still be up in it’s hole. I have to retrieve it. It’s the only ranged weapon I have left. The ground underneath me grows hot as his breath attacks hits the inside of the mountain. I crawl away from it. When the heat recedes I make a dash up the hill. Another breath attack. I hit the deck. “Stand still and let me burn you!” He yells. I ignore him and keep running up the mountain. “Get over here and get this rubble off me!” I peek over the edge to see him yelling at a group of kobolds. They obey his orders but with the diligence and speed you’d expect of a Walmart employee who hates their job. He redies another breath attack so I duck back away from the gap. The flames shoot over the edge, but I’m far enough away that I can keep running. I reach the hole that I set the gunpowder bomb in. The fuse didn’t light all the way to the clay pot. A side effect of my eagerness to defeat this dragon. I should have tested the fuses better. I quickly peak at him again. He immediately fires a breath attack at me. I jump back, but if he keeps the fire up then the stones below me will become like a frying pan. I need to roll away, but then the dragon starts gagging. His breath attack stops so he can throw up The half digested bodies of kobolds flow out in torrent of green icor.

The poison! It took effect. I peek over the edge again. If I throw the bomb then use Create Fire I can light it from a distance. I hold the bomb back like a baseball. The dragon shakes the puke from his mouth then looks at me. I can see the light begin to gather at the back of his throat and realize I’m holding a powderkeg, and I’m about to be hit with fire. I chuck it as quickly as I can.
The bomb flies in a large arc. I watch it tumble through the air in slow motion. It hits the dragon’s teeth on its upper jaw, then like a basketball bounces off and hits his lower jaw teeth. It bounces back to his upper jaw then rolls along his teeth down between two huge fangs. It rolls in the gap into his mouth just as the flames come from the back of his throat.
The ground shakes as the explosion rocks the mountain. I duck behind the rocks waiting for the pillar of flame but it never comes. Cautiously I poke my head over the rocks. The dragon’s head, or what remains of it anyways, has exploded in multiple directions with only the tough scales holding it to the body. Like a banana peel of flesh.

The stream of UI flashes hurt my head. I’m left grabbing at my skull as the kobolds below me cheer.
Choose evolution path. Two Max levels reached! Choose two!
Elementalist Kobold- A kobold adept at elemental magic. Unlocks all four elemental magics, but greatly weakens physical strength.
Dragonborn- The race that was first born from the mixing of dragons and humans. Combines both the might of a dragon with the ingenuity of a human.
Silver kobold- Kobolds with shapeshifting powers that they inherit from their silver dragon blood. Because they only use a power inherited and not their own power they have trouble controlling it. While shapeshifted they are likely to blurr the edge between themselfs and what they are disguised as. They are prone to psychosis.
Black Kobold- Kobold from the swamp land. Invisible in any dark area, incredibly strong and highly feared. Savadge monsters driven to attack anything in their territory.
Gold Kobold- King of kobolds despite their low intelligence, strength, and general snobbyness. The only redeaming quality is their scales are made of gold.
Wyrmkin- A descended from dragons. Mostly regarded as lesser dragons, but still able to live for thousands of years and grow larger than a town house.
Necromancer Kobold- A kobold so adept at magic that it is willing to control the forces of the undead. This comes with the downside of being able to see the many spirits that are constantly surrounding us. Prone to psychohsis]

Journeys in the Fairworld: The Gatekeeper
Lindsey Fluger was only slightly past eighteen. There was nothing particularly special about her, save that she happened to be the right person at the right time. When Lindsey is asked to join an expedition to another world she makes the mistake of saying yes, plunging herself into a sea of perilous adventure and dark intrigue. Journeys in the Fairworld is a fantasy anthology series set in The Fairworld, a magical realm existing in parallel with our own world which is governed by a group elfin beings known only as “The Good Folk”. These mysterious entities work in secret to keep the peace between the myriad of peoples and nations which dwell in The Fairworld. Complex relationships and bitter rivalries emerge against a backdrop of constrained resources and conflicting values to produce a world of high adventure and tangled mysteries. This novel is technically already completed, and I am currently in the final stages of proofing or editing. As such, there may be a few typos and errors here and there. The final version should be about 130,000 words long, which I will be releasing in stages as I continue editing. I'd love to hear your feedback and comments! If you want to read more stories from Journeys in the Fairworld, please checkout “Journeys in the Fairworld: The Brigand of Potham”, which is also available here on Royal Road Legends. https://www.royalroadl.com/fiction/19369/journeys-in-the-fairworld-the-brigand-of-potham

Hence, I wellcome any comments with the intent of helping me getting better (within reasons of course).
