《Jezoi》Chapter 04 - Improved status.

Lagakh woke up feeling strange. She wasn’t hurt, but she was tied up and gagged. When she opened her eyes she saw the human sleeping in front of her. She was tied up naked to the wooden plank used to hold her slaves before playing with them. This room was her own bedroom, meaning the human had transported her here. She had no longer any wound, why did the human heal her? Why didn’t he let her die?
She felt rage grow inside her.
He had cowardly defeated her, killed all of her warriors, reaped her of her pride. And more than that, he put on her a slavery collar and treated her like her slaves, death was better than this humiliation. He even dared to treat her injuries, depriving her of more prideful scars!
She wanted to die, but before that she would have to kill this human. Slowly and painfully. The mushroom was also here, angrily looking at her, reminding her the depth of her shame. She had not only lost to a human, but also to a mushroom. She felt a bit of fear at the thought that he could took his revenge for what she had done to him, what she had done to a lot of people, what a lot of people had done to her. NO! She would not lost herself in those memories. What she suffered is in the past. Now she must live for her vengeance, as an orc and a warrior, she had to make all those who had made her suffer pay. This human in particular.
And for that she would need the human to take off the collar. She couldn’t guess how he managed to remove it. It was supposed to be impossible. Even the death of the master could not allow the slave to remove his collar, it would just make the slave available to whoever poured mana in the slavery collar first. The only theoretical way of freeing someone from those collar, without the consent of the owner, was through an extradimensional storage Skill of some kind and those were only found in a few third tier Skill Tree. It was impossible for a human of his age to get one of those. Only person with dozens of years of experience could have this kind of Skill Tree. A person with a third tier Skill Tree merchant would be too powerful for such a collar could to be put on him.
Lagakh would have to trick the human in freeing her and reveal his secret.
__________
When Marc woke up, he was feeling really better than the previous day. Having a good rest is easier when you’re not a slave. Sitting in the bed he looked around and saw Paulet and the female orc looking daggers at each other. She didn’t move and stayed attached here all night, carefully monitored by Paulet.
Marc get up and looked by the window, he noticed the sun was low on the horizon, but was it the est of the west? He had no idea.
He then went in front of the female orc and remove the gag, she looked at him with hatred and tried to bit him. He slapped her, giving her a menacing look.

“You know, normally I wouldn’t hit a woman. But after what I saw in the kitchen, and what you did to me, I have no remorse in hitting you. So don’t make me angry.” Marc knew she couldn’t understand him, but talking to someone was refreshing after the recent events. Founding his girlfriend fucking his brother, dying, speaking to an administrator whatever that was, being send to another world, and then reduced to a slave and a sex toy. All of this in just two days was too much to handle for a student like him.
Marc pointed at himself and at Paulet and said their names, then pointing at her he waited with an interrogative look on his face.
“Lagakh.” responded the orc after a little moment.
“Lagakh? Welcome in our little band, you will be my bodyguard and my guide.
“I will kill you.”
“Squeak.” Said Paulet, like if it wanted to participate in the conversation.
“I know you can’t understand my words, but this collar translates the meaning of them, so here are my orders: don’t harm me and protect me.” After learning her language he would elaborate on it, but for now, Marc would keep it simple and straightforward.
Marc unbinded Lagakh, keeping a knife in his hand. As soon as she was free, he repeated his orders and looked at her with apprehension, waiting for her to charge at him. But she simply ignored him and went for her closet to take some clothes to dress herself. Marc didn’t missed a second of it.
“Come.”
Ordered Marc as he went to the corridor then walked to the room where the slaughter took place.
“Clean.”
Lagakh looked at him then began to pick up the bodies and dispose them in the courtyard, Marc followed her the first time. Then he ordered Paulet to watched her and went to the kitchen.
There he take all the human meat in the pantry and put it respectfully in the courtyard. He prepared a pyre, working quickly has the sun was setting down.
It seemed he had slept almost all day.
He saw that Lagakh also made a pyre for the dead orcs and decided to let her do it. She was his slave now, and only a monster in his eyes, but he didn’t want her to hate him more than she already did. He thought that she would be more efficient in her bodyguard job. For the same reason he didn’t said anything when she put her leather armor back and her swords at her waist.
At nightfall Marc ignited the humans’ pyre and let Lagakh took care of the orcs’ one. And after watching for a bit, he went back in the kitchen and started cooking some animal meat and cleaning his new clothes.
__________
Lagakh didn’t understand what the human had in mind. His orders were simple, and the collar helped her understand them. She was forbidden to harm him and even had to protect him from what she could understand. He even let her give a proper funeral to her fallen warriors. But he also made her clean the room, like she was some sort of maid.
And now he was bringing her some food. She didn’t want to eat this food, but he ordered her to do so. He also light up some of the torches, the night coming some light won’t be a luxury.

During the meal, Marc ordered her to do something else, but she didn’t get it and the collar didn’t help her on this one. Then he took the plate and point his finger on it, saying a strange word. As he was doing so with everything near them, she finally understand what he wanted. He wanted her to give him the name of those things.
At the time she understood the collar forced her to name each object one by one. She struggled at first but quickly complied and start teaching him how to speak lavarian. It would be easier to manipulate him if they could understand each other's words. The fact that a human didn’t speak a word of the most common language was strange, but he was a strange human.
__________
After eating and learning a bit of vocabulary Marc went to see the night sky, he had always loved watching the stars, wondering if there was life out there, and he was rather curious to see the stars of this world. Well now he didn’t knew for the stars, but he knew that the other universes theories were true.
He made Lagakh follow him, so he could continue to learn new words.
The night sky was astonishing, there was a lot more stars than he was used to see on Earth. They were like billions of diamonds spreaded on a black silk sheet. But the most surprising thing up there, was the moons. Yes, plural, like in two moons. A big one, looking three time as big as the Earth’s moon and with a faint light that wasn’t strong enough to illuminate the night. It was only a crescent moon right now, but no doubt that on the full moon, the light would allow someone to walk peacefully on the streets. The second moon was really small, maybe a tenth of the first one, it was the same form than the first. But this one was giving a small green light. The small moon was on the right of the big one.
After contemplating the starry night Marc felt it was quite chilly out there. He was still tired of the recents events. Tomorrow he would visit the castle.
After binding Lagakh to a bed they had moved in her bedroom, Marc lie on her previous bed, the biggest and comfiest.
He then go through his status again, wondering the meaning of the characteristics’ names and where were the famous stat points he had gain when he had level up. How was he suppose to use them if he couldn’t even see them in his status screen.

Yep, he didn’t miss them, the free stat points he had gain were nowhere on his status screen. He would have to figure out how to use them later, the physical and intellectual ones seemed to have been automatically allocated. But what he saw and surprised him the most was the new section about Lagakh. There was a special section in the status of a person with his slaves… Has if the system was encouraging slavery...
So Lagakh was a level 17 gladiator, surely that was meaning she was a really strong one and that in normal conditions, she would have crushed him. Also, she was not a simple orc, well Marc already knew that, but he had the confirmation that she was even more than what he thought. She was half dark orc and half goliath. Whatever the differences between a normal orc and a dark one was, apart for the skin color. And for what Marc could guess from his Bible’s knowledges, the goliath were probably a race of tall and strong humanoid.
Well, that new section gift him another piece of useful information, she had only one Skill Tree outside of her races’ ones. Marc had two of them, did that mean he could become really powerful? Or did that have absolutely no meaning? He decided that he would believe in the first until something prove him wrong.
His Linguistic and Familiar Skills had also gained some experience, meaning the teaching and the presence of Paulet were useful. Hey, the mushroom had even gain a level for himself.
Marc had gain of experience for his levels to. He guessed it means he didn’t had to kill to level up, but it was faster.
__________
Incredible, the human had only tied her to a bed before falling asleep in her former one. He had done nothing to her. Lagakh was hardly believing the day that had pass.
Marc, as his name was, had almost treated her with respect, at least toward the dead. But at other moments he was treating her like garbage. She was forced to clean the blood in the dining room! Like a common slave!
She had freed herself from a life of fights in the arena and sexual abuses in other places. She had taken control of a small band of wandering orcs and started to make a warband of them. She had even gain the respect of a shaman. Soon she would have been able to complete her revenge! But now, she was nothing more than a slave, again.
She would enjoy killing this human, she would reclaimed her freedom. She would form a new warband. And this time, she would be more cautious of the slaves she captured, making sure they didn’t have strange abilities they should not have.

Summoner's Journey
[Before you read - the story is officially dead. The reasons behind it are posted in the last chapter.] In a magic world on the verge of an industrial revolution, Ari Ragnarsson must uncover the truth behind his parents' disappearance. They were part of an organization known as the Order, which protects mankind from various threats - both human and supernatural. Now, after Ari's brands finally manifest, he leaves the safety of his village and travels to the continent. Strength is all that matters in this world and he must learn how to control his powers. There, he meets a man from another world, who's being hunted for merely existing. Their fates become intertwined, but not in a way either of them would appreciate. Author's note (contains minor non-story related spoilers about the MC and setting) This is a progression fantasy with LITRPG elements sprinkled on top. The main character is not a spellsword, but a summoner/support mage hybrid. Since he wasn't ambushed by a random god, there's no cheat item/spell and he has to rely on his skills and wits to survive in a world full of monsters. The story tries to show the moment when the old starts to be replaced by the new, with a healthy dose of magic and a little steampunk in the background. Also, it revolves around a party dynamic akin to RPG sessions. No health/mana bars. Numbers are secondary and the LITRPG elements focus more on classes/spells/runes and their evolutions. Tables are sparse at the beginning, but from chapter 7 onwards they appear more often. Still, I won't be copy-pasting the whole character sheet dozens of times per chapter.

My Good Friend Murphy
***Disclaimer*** I wrote and am writing this purely for my own amusement. That means that this could have major revisions done to it sporadically, it has more grammar errors than even the most mentally stable grammar nazi could withstand, and will not update at all regularly. This is an ad-hoc fun experimental work with forced motives, plotholes, and static characters. Don't expect too much. That said, this mutated mistake of a short novella follows a ditzy MC who has been transported to a new world with the dubiously useful skills origin and enigma and the obnoxiously imbalanced skill, traveler. If you'd like more incentive to give it a shot, you will never get spoilers about the plot because there isn't one (Actual synopsis coming soon, relative to eternity)
