Luxuria to Ira
“Well, as I was saying, what you experienced wasn’t an Awakening, It was an Enlightenment. You often hear of the bards talking about painters and craftsmen sitting under trees or on mountain tops for seven days and seven nights and coming back as mages. That’s all nonsense. They are just masters of their fields who have accumulated enough Fame to activate their Aura. As they are ill equipped to deal with the sudden efflux of Aura, normally they should die from discharging all their life force which is associated with their Aura but due to the addition of Fame, which is personal in nature, the Aura develops a ‘sense of belonging’ and refuses to leave, automatically… gasp… forming a Theca.”
“Right, like you these people are exhausted by their forced state of Theca and pass out, recover in their sleep, pass out again upon waking up, ad infinitum till they learn to restrain their Aura. The so called seven days and seven nights are mostly spent in such a cycle. The abilities they gain from their Aura are also related with their field of endeavour.
The mortality rate is nearly zero as anyone capable enough of being a paragon of his field is capable enough to grasp the basics of Aura. Although there is an anecdote about a painter who spent a long time feverishly working on his masterpiece without food or rest and right after completing it went into a state of Enlightenment, dying of starvation within it. It is said that the painting was contaminated with the Aura of the dying painter and became an enchanted item.
Awakening on the other hand is quite risky. It involves extreme stimulation like surviving a life or death situation or exposure to killing intent from an Aura adept. If the person is unable to grasp his Aura and form his Theca rapidly, he will die due to the dispersal of his life force. Those who survive often carry physical or mental scars from the ordeal. Early preparation with image training and meditation are helpful in reducing casualties as per tests conducted in the army.

Both Awakening and Enlightenment require a mature body and awakened children below sixteen suffer from many complications. Thus, we were waiting for you two to come of age.”

Most people think having powers would be amazing. Not Nate. If he had it his way, he’d never use them and pretend they weren’t there. His powers, though, seem to have other ideas. Uncontrolled powers sound problematic on their own, but when people can destroy entire city blocks with a wayward glance, they become a whole new issue entirely. Nate has always felt like he’s had wary eyes watching him, waiting for him to slip up. So far, he’s managed to just barely keep his head down, but when his powers force him to step into the spotlight, he finds himself caught up in the one life he never wanted; heroism. Now, will he find a way to accept the powers he blames for all his problems, or will he crumble under the pressure? Note: I primarily upload on my website on Sundays . I'll upload here regularly up to a day after the chapters go live on the main site. Vote for aka on TopWebFiction! Feel free to join the aka Discord. 8 181The Forerunner's Odyssey
The greatest tragedies are not the ones with the most unfortunate and unhappy endings, but rather the ones without an ending at all. So when Suran Ibrahim scaled the fresh crater, it was not out of exuberance for surviving his ordeal, nor was it out of desire to live in the brave, new world he found himself in. He simply longed for an ending to his odyssey. Mature 18+ Mostly for violence, some language, but anything else may show up eventually. I place the tag just so that I'm not restricted. I'm rewriting this to fix a host of issues. I'll try to update my progress in the blurb - I most likely wont post the revisions until I'm done for all chapters. Till then, c'ya later fam. Maybe. Character rework: 100% Planing: 80% Rewrite: 5/35 Editing: 5/35
8 120The UnSlut Project
I was the 6th-grade "slut." And I kept a diary. So I decided to create The UnSlut Project in the hopes that my own diary entries could provide some perspective to girls who currently feel trapped and ashamed. I am publishing these entries one at a time, without changing a single word except for the names of the people involved. My limited commentary, which is confined to brackets in each entry, is meant to provide the relief of my current perspective, fifteen years later. The UnSlut Project: Working to undo the dangerous slut shaming in our schools, communities, media, and culture by sharing knowledge and experiences.
