A few seconds later.
For the rest of the day, Wolf Queen Neina hunted the surviving members of Phantom Society.
Suddenly, Neina senses a sharp object flying on her place.
"Whoosh!" The sharp object hit the ground as Neina was able to dodge it easily.
"Tsk. Not bad for a starter."
Above the tree, a bald man wearing a mask descended from the ground. "Well well well... You evaded that kunai without a problem. Can you entertain me a little bit? I'm a little bit bored in this place." The masked man threatened. He grabs the long sword on his back pointed it at the wolf.
Neina only stared at him intently, not moving an inch.
"Ignoring me huh? Well, of course, you can't understand me. You're just a monster, coming out of nowhere. By the way, your meat is delicious, especially your belly. "
But Neina remained still. To be precise she was assessing the mask man's strength.
The masked man was a little stirred by the wolf's quietness. 'Whatever, I suck at provoking my enemies anyways. I will strike first.'
The masked man dashed forward and when he was within his sword's range he began attacking Neina. He delivered a powerful horizontal slash on Neina's head.
With clashing sound, Neina's claws and the masked man's sword collided. The masked man's eyes twitched by the wolf's strength. In a glimpse, he sensed a dreadful aura on his side. There, he saw Neina's other claw approaching his head. Fortunately, he evaded it in a nick of time, but his mask broke in half revealing his wrinkled face.
The masked man jumped backward distancing himself on the wolf. 'What a strength, I can still fell my hands trembling on that single exchanged. Its speed was also quick. That feeling... this is not good. I need to finish it using that.'

Then he performed multiple hand seals. His hand seals were fast and accurate. Seals were needed to perform many ninjutsu, genjutsu, and other secret arts other than taijutsu.
After performing all the necessary seals in merely two seconds, the masked man shouted, "Fire Release: Dragon Fire Technique!"
Coming from his mouth, he sends a stream of fire that takes on the form of a dragon towards the wolf's location. 'I am Endo Shunsen, the leader of Phantom Society. I'm honored to fight you. But, this is the end. This legendary technique was passed down to my ancestors! There's no way you can survive this! ' the masked man thought to himself.
Neina's red eyes intensified. 'Such a nuisance. That is not enough to match me.'
She decided to fights fire with fire. She imprinted her stand on the ground and let out a massive fireball. Her fireball was larger than before.
A loud noise interrupted the calmness of the forest as the two fireballs collided.
'Crap! What kind of jutsu is this?!!'
The ground shook.
Seconds later, the explosion creates a crater on the ground. On the crater, a corpse was lying not moving an inch. It was Endo Shunsen who died instantly.
His whole body was burned to crisp. His equipment was burned by the intense fire.
'Useless. Utterly useless. By this, I finally avenge you, Noah.'
Neina snorted. He walked away not knowing where to go.
Meanwhile, in the village of Konoha.
A loud noise interrupted the sleeping old man who was lying on his chair.

The Last Science [SE]
[SE has the same content as the original story, split into smaller chunks for easier reading. This story is on a temporary hiatus due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. I work in healthcare and unfortunately no longer have the freetime to continue posting on a regular basis. As soon as our workload decreases, I will return. Thanks for reading! 💙] No one ever knows the whole story. Deep in the forests of the Pacific Northwest, the fading town of Rallsburg stumbles upon an amazing discovery—magic itself. Faced with potentially world-shattering power, the people of Rallsburg keep the secret for themselves. Led by Rachel DuValle, a perpetually underestimated college student with grand ambitions, they seek to found a new society. The world beyond suspects nothing, but magic cannot stay hidden forever. A train arrives in Rallsburg carrying Alden Bensen, a directionless high school graduate. To him, magic could represent meaning for his life, an explanation for his empty existence. This potent force offers anyone the power to change humanity forever—or send it cascading into swift and total annihilation. The Last Science is an ongoing science-fiction / low-fantasy web novel series, focused on the modern world with a twist. New societies bud and grow, but the people who make them up are imperfect and flawed. The story includes elements of mystery, action, crime, interpersonal drama, relationships, philosophy, sociology, politics, and much more, all centered on the perspective characters driving the tale. This is the "Scraps Edition" of the story, where the chapters have been split up into bite-size chunks (roughly 1500-3000 words), for your convenience. The prose has been edited from its original form, with some improvements, but there are no content differences from the original. New chapters will be posted throughout each week starting on Friday and appearing on multiple days thereafter, depending on the length of the chapter. Content Warning (by request): This series delves into some topics and situations which may be upsetting for some readers. In American rating parlance, the narrative would be rated PG-13 (except for language), but some have noted the story can get pretty dark on occasion.
