《The tribal queen and the Medic》Chapter 10 - The Angelics

Jaison helped the Angelics out of the cage. The girls each tucked their wings into their backs, allowing Jasion to wrap his Jacket around the blond girl’s shoulder, and his shirt around the raven-haired girl. The girls looked to be in their 20s, maybe a little older, but like humans, amazons, and the other species of this world they didn’t age.
Jasion walked ahead of them and out of the cave. The group of wolfkin was already waiting for them, Haunily was holding the blue dragon which seemed to have followed them there. The dragon was happily munching and a shiny red stone when the wolves noticed Jasion and the two Angelic leaving the cave. Jasion glanced behind him as he could see the fear of the two girls, probably caused by the site of dead giant or maybe the site of the large 600+ wolf people. The two Angelics had their eyes locked on the wolfkin, they visibly weren’t easy around these wolves.
“Wait here,” Jasion told the two Angelics. He started to walk over to the wolves, the red eyes of the demon fading as they turned back to his usual golden colour.
The wolves all had a look of shame on their faces, their ears and tails were all pointed downward in a depressed manner. Renra looked up to Jasion, he went to speak but before he could mutter a word Jasion backhanded him across the face, knocking him to the ground. Jasion still had a lot of pent-up rage due to the very idea the wolves were willing to sacrifice one of their own rather than band together and fight for themselves and kill the creature.
“To us humans, wolves are seen as a strong and powerful species. This here what I have seen tonight, this was truly disgraceful.” Jasion said as looked down on Renra as he put a handout to help him. Jasion felt bad for hitting Renra, but he knew if these wolves were going to survive, they would have to toughen up and be able to fight against any invader that may come their way. Renra took hold of Jasion’s hand and pulled himself to his feet.
“I know, but many of us aren’t strong enough to hunt or fight,” Renra said, not daring to look extremely pissed of Jasion in the eyes.
“Then I’ll find a way to help you. I promise, now pull yourself together and let’s get everyone back to the village, tomorrow we will start to strategies ways to make this village safe.” Jaison said as he planted a reassuring hand on Renra’s shoulder. Renra nodded and started to gather the people together and make their way back to the village, each having a look of shame on their faces, Jasion’s words made them disappointed in themselves. Jasion felt pity for them, but at the same time, he felt as if he was talking to a group of disobedient children. Jasion turned and walked back to the two Angelics.
“Come with me, I’ll take you back to the village I am staying in, you’ll be safe. If you don’t mind what are your names?” Jasion asked as he started to escort the girls back to the village.
“First what is yours?” The blond asked as the girls started to carefully follow him, still not trusting of a person that could kill such a giant. The girls as well as the wolfkin were all still getting over the fact that the harmless-looking Jasion just killed such a monster with such ease.
“Jasion” He answered, still gripping his sword in case another giant appeared, even though he doubted it.

“I am Caperiol,” the blond said, a proud look on her face, he could tell what the demon said about them being stuck up was probably true.
“And I am the great Reveriol,” The ravened haired woman said, a slightly less arrogant tone in her voice. carefully and cautiously Jasion led the girl to start in the village. He entered the village to see the Village, he saw wolves all peeking out of their windows nervously at him. The man that was going to be sacrificed was crying as he hugged what Jasion assumed to be his family. Jasion felt oddly happy to see him safe. But Jasion couldn’t relax, he could feel the eyes of the wolves all staring down the two Angelics. Haunily was already standing next to the hut that Jaison had been taken to earlier, the small blue dragon in her arms. Her kind face and eyes met with Jasion’s, her ears were excitedly pricked up on top of her head, her tail was wagging happily. That all changed though as her eyes narrowed as she noticed the two barely clothed Angelics behind him. The girls were both probably around the same height as Jasion, meaning they were taller than Haunily by quite a bit, something that considering her uneasiness around the Angelics didn’t help.
“What do you plan to go with them?” Haunily asked her tail spiked up straight, the hairs all on edge in a defensive display.
“I’ll let them sleep in my bed for the night and I’ll sleep on the floor or something. Tomorrow we will decide what they want to do.” Jasion said as he walked past Haunily and welcomed the girls into the hut. Haunily narrowed her eyes at the girls as they passed her and into the hut, the Angelics turned their noses up to the inferior wolf as they entered the hut after their new friend. Once the girls had safely entered the hut Jasion turned around to wish Haunily a good night. The little blue dragon hopped into his arms and then over his shoulder into the hut.
“It seems he is starting to like you,” Jasion said shutting the door to the hut to allow the Angelics to get ready for bed.
“Yes. But we are still friends?” Haunily asked her ears on edge with nervousness. Jasion took off his mask and gave her a warm smile.
“I have to admit, you impressed me today, you were the only wolf with the balls to try and stop the sacrifice,” Jasion said, his golden eyes locking on her, giving her a warm feeling inside her chest.
“I tried a few years ago but I ended up being punished, so thank you for your help,” Haunily said returning with a loving smile of her own. She was happy to see even after she had lied and betrayed him, he was still willing to be her friend. He truly was an interesting person, maybe a little too kind and gentle for his own good, but still an interesting person none the less. Jasion bid her good night and after knocking on the door and entering the hut he saw the two Angelics hiding under the large comfy-looking bed. The eyes him curiously, taking in the face of their saviour.
“Are you an Amazon? Or weird elf?” Caperiol asked.
“Human” Jasion said as he picked up his jacket and shirt the girls had left on the floor for him. The girl’s eyes widened with amazement as Jasion casually started to make a bed for himself on the floor.

“Human? Like the rare creatures in fairy tales, the ones from the walled city” Reveriol said. The girls, like many races with access to books, had heard stories of humans and how amazing they were at making weapons that could shake the ground, and make the very trees bow down to them.
“I’m from the walled city, yes, but there are hundreds of cities dotted around the planet and even on other planets. I will tell you more tomorrow (if I remember) if you like but it has been a long day and I need sleep, feel free to wake me if you need anything.” Jasion said as he climbed into his makeshift bed, too tired to carry on talking. He placed his mask near the bed in case anything happened in the night and he would need to defend himself.
“Amazing, really amazing sister,” Caperiol said as the two girls watched him drift off to sleep. Caperiol carefully moved out the bed and over to Jaison to check if he was asleep, she was the much more inquisitive out of the two and couldn’t help but want to examine the first human she had ever laid eyes on.
She reached her hand out to the mask, wanting to examine the glass eyes and grey metal of the mask.
“Touch me and I will break your legs,” the demon of the mask said, making both girls jump slightly. The girls went to ask where the voice came from, who the voice was, but before they could ask any of their many questions the door to the hut creaked open and Haunily darted inside. She dove onto the sleeping Jasion, her tail and ears on end, a sneer on her face as she took a protective stance over him. Jasion was too tired to notice the whole event, much to the amusement of the masked man who was currently sitting in an invisible form in the corner of the room.
“I was listening from the door; you were trying to hurt my friend!” She whispered angrily. Her eyes fixed on the two girls.
“We won’t hurt him, he saved us after all, stupid wolf,” Reveriol said, narrowing her tired eyes at the wolf in annoyance.
“Why were you going to towards him then?” Haunily said snarling.
“Didn’t you hear that voice?” Reveriol added.
“No,” The demon of the mask said, making all three of the girls jump.
“Don’t worry, I’m the guy who gave Jasion his powers, now I suggest you quiet down before he wakes up” The demon said manifesting in front of them.
“May I ask a favour of you?” he said, turning into his human form and taking a seat on the bed next to the girls. The two Angelics eyed him curiously, not trusting a demon. But something was off about this demon though, its voice and appearance were much more…. Gentle than other demons they had seen.
“Jasion is a brave but dumb kid, I understand you were just curious and that’s why you wanted to touch him but let me make myself clear if you ever try to harm either of us, I will make sure he destroys you,” The demon said as he glided to Haunily’s side.
“You like him, don’t you? I see it in your eyes, if Jasion ever seems like he may do something stupid make sure he doesn’t alright?” the demon said, patting the confused and slightly scared wolf girl on the head. He faded back into the mask forum and took a position besides Jasion. The demon lastly placed a spell on Haunily that calmed her and showed he had no bad intentions before drifting to sleep himself.
The Angelics scoffed and not wanting to wake Jasion or make more trouble they wrapped themselves in the covers and after muttering insults about Haunily they started to drift to sleep, they couldn’t understand how a human of all things could get a demon to his side, and how a wolf was entrusted with his mental wellbeing over them. They understood she probably knew him better but still the fact the demon didn’t even consider them annoyed them greatly.
Feeling as if she had asserted her dominance over the exhausted Angelics, but still not trusting them, nor the demon that had just appeared before her, Haunily shut the door to the hut and decided that she would be able to redeem her betrayal by spending the night and all nights in the future guarding him. Haunily smiled down at him lovingly, she wanted to repay her treachery to him. She gently kissed him on the forehead and nuzzled down into his chest, falling into a deep sleep as she did so.
The entire time throughout this weird situation the small blue dragon had been sitting in the corner incredibly confused about what was seen unfold in front of him. Like the Angelics the dragon was too tired to question what was going on and joined Haunily sleeping on Jaison’s chest. The demon of the mask happily watched over the sleeping group, at that moment he knew he was right to have chosen Jasion as the wielder of his power, as he could see each day seemed to be more entertaining for him to watch than the last.
The demon was thousands of years old and over that time had seen very few humans that have ever shown even the slightest amount of kindness that Jasion did, maybe that was one of the reasons why he liked watching him so much, but even a demon-like himself didn’t know why he liked the boy so much. The demon chuckled as it moved over to Jasion’s side and placed a gentle hand on his head.
“Mabey I am just getting too soft,” he said as he allowed his body to fade into mist and go back into the mask. Once inside the mask, deeming the area to be safe the demon turned the mask back into mist as well and drifted off into the night, waiting for Jasion to awake.
The day soon a rived and Jaison slowly creaked open his eyelids. He tried to sit up but something heavy was lying on his chest. He slowly and carefully sat up to see Haunily curled upon him. He smiled for a few seconds before lifting her and putting her to one side, wrapping his jacket around her. She reminded him of a small puppy he had as a child, he couldn’t help but want to look after her.
Jasion looked across to see the Angelics already awake, their eyes locked on him, studying his movements. He raised his hand and gave them a friendly if not a little awkward wave.
“Morning,” He said as he started to move to the door of the hut.
“There are a few questions I would like to ask you, I also assume that you have some for me, I’ll wait for when you are ready and then we will start.” He said as he opened the door.
“Wait,” Caperiol said. Jasion stopped and turned to her, a friendly still slightly tired smile on his face.
“We need clothes,” Caperiol said seriously. Jasion nodded and started to think.
“Hay demon, you know I can make weapons with the mist, right? And you made these clothes for me using the black mist back at the elf camp. So, can I make clothes for these two as well?” Jasion whispered to the demon. The demon manifested and gave Jasion a thumbs up.
“It will take a while, but I think you could learn it.” He said as he used the time stop, to well stop time.
“So, I guess we are learning that now,” Jasion said sadly.
“The only reason you beat that giant was because of how quickly you learned how to use the green flames, and because it underestimated you. So, let’s say that Pelana catches you and you will have to fight her, there is a high chance you will get your ass kicked, so I want to ramp up your training, as well as show you a little trick of mine.” The demon said, as he took the Jacket of Haunily and handed it to Jaison.
“Put this on.” Jasion complied with the demon’s demands.
“now reach into your jacket pocket” And again Jaison quickly followed the demon’s instructions. When his hand reached into the pocket, he quickly felt the leathery texture of a small book. He pulled the book out of his Jacket and into the sunlight. The black leather shined in the sunlight.
“Okay good, now open the book and write down your name.” Jasion flicked open the book, the demon summoned a blue pen into his hand and passed it to Jaison. Jasion wrote his name down on the linked page. A black square appeared on the opposite page. The black square contained a picture of his face and several numbers under it.
The numbers read:
Strength: 30 Magic: 500 Speed/agility: 100 Intelligence: 30
“So, what is all this?” Jasion asked the demon.
“It is basically a rough sketch the book makes about your power, and other traits/abilities you have. Now wright down Pelana’s name” Jasion complied. He flicked over to the next double-page and wrote down her name. He gulped as he read her statistics.
“Holy fuck” Jasion muttered as he read the numbers.
The numbers read:
Strength: 200 Magic: 34224 Speed/agility: 200 Intelligence: 45
The difference between Jasion and Pelana was far beyond anything he could have ever expected. She was like a goddess of war compared to him. He knew she was stronger than him, but the difference was something that made him terrified of the amazon’s power.
He could see he would need to train heavily if he had any chance of fighting her, but the thought of fighting her was something he would like to only ever use as a last resort if he couldn’t find a way to talk her on to his side, or at least talk her into helping him.
The demon then went on to show Jasion how to summon clothes from using the black mist. After a few failed attempts he made some clothes that matched the measurements of the girls, as well as clothes that would fit over their large wings. He threw the clothes onto the bed for them before turning to the door again to leave.
“This is all I wanted to show you for now but remember if we have any chance of fighting Pelana and the amazons, you will need companions, allies, and people who you can trust with your life.” The demon said, unfreezing time as he turned himself back into the mist.
Jaison left the hut a walked out into the village. Contemplating how he could probably find a way to get people onto his side to fight the amazons. His thoughts were quickly put to the side though as Renra and several other male and female wolves that all looked to be fairly tough approached him, it seemed that they had been waiting for him outside the hut.
“Mr. Jasion, I would like to talk to you,” Renra said nervously as he gestured to his left. Jaison narrowed his eyes, not trusting the wolf after the night before. Jasion summoned his mask and placed it onto his face. Jasion gave Renra a nod and followed him and his warriors off through the village. The warriors didn’t say a word to him, nor even look in Jasion’s direction as they escorted them to what looked to be a village hall of some kind.
The group led him heading to the large well-built wooden hall. He how to admit he was impressed with the craftsmanship facts the pillars that held up the wooden ceiling from the outside had engraved on them. Wolves open the large Oak doors and welcomed Jasion inside. At the center of the room, several chairs crowded around a wooden table.
“Please, take a seat,” Renra said walking wish Jasion over to the chairs and pulling one out for him. Jasion took a seat in one of the chairs and looked across the table to where Renra was now sitting.
“First I would like to thank you for saving our village from the beast, but I would like to know what you think we should now do to protect ourselves from outside threats,” Renra asked, a scared but serious look on his face.
Jaison thought for a few seconds but before he could give an answer that was the sound of yelling bustling from the outside of the thick doors. Jasion alongside the wolves all stared towards the soundproof doors in confusion and what was being so loud as to pierce them. They soon had their answer as the doors swung open and two, tall, and proud-looking Angelics stormed into the room. Caperiol and Reveriol both stood in the entrance of the room, their heads held high. The black clothes that Jasion had quickly put together for them looked to be only just fitting them, mostly because the clothes they wore were identical to his, the only difference being that there were large holes out the back of the shirt to allow their wings to spread out.
“As captains of the Angelic 22nd brigade, we wish to be here to join whatever is happening right now,” Reveriol said trying to sound cool and noble but in reality, sounding like a, to put it simply, cunt. Jasion what's starting to get saving those two, considering that maybe he should start listening to the demon’s suggestions more.
“You weren’t invited,” Jaison said coldly, it being too early in the morning for him to start wanting to care about anything other than some food and drink. He was even considering finding an excuse to dip out of the meeting early to sneak off and find something to eat and drink to help regain his energy, what didn't help with his exhaustion though was also using the time stop so early in the morning when he was already low on energy.
“Well as you are the one that freed us, we shall forgive your rudeness, but we insist on joining the meeting alongside you our close friend,” Caperiol said. Before anyone could stop them, the girls had already taken seats at the table and were smugly smiling at Jasion, as if to say that whether he liked it or not he was stuck with them.
Jasion shuddered, he had no clue how these girls considered him their close friend even after only knowing him for a short time.
“I had nothing to do with this,” The demon said quietly from within Jasion’s mind.
“I didn’t ask, and that alone is what makes me think you did do something,” Jaison thought. The demon only answered with a slight chuckle and Jaison tried his best to ignore him while he carried on with the conversion he was meant to be having with the wolves and Angelics.
“The interruption aside we need to find a way to protect our village from the raiding amazons and many monsters that dwell in our forest,” Renra said crossing his fingers as he started to think.
“Well to repay Jaison for helping us, as knights I guess we could help train… lesser begins on the basics of a sword,” Reveriol said smugly as if they were doing them a favour.
“I could make some swords using the mist and you could train some of the wolves on how to use them. It will take some time to make some decent swords that are well balanced and could be used by anyone, but I think this could work” Jaison said clapping his hands together, hoping that he could now get some food for himself and the dragon.
Renra was about to speak, but Jasion wanting nothing more than food decided he should leave as soon as possible decided to cut him off.
“Hay look you two talk it out I’m going to get something to eat,” Jasion said, disappearing out the door before anyone could say another word.
He knew he was being impolite, maybe it was the influence of the demon over him, maybe it was just because he was cranky and hungry, two things that should never be brought together. Jasion wandered around the village until he saw what looked to be a hut where people were gathering to eat. He approached nervously, he was slowly waking up and his overly kind and shy scenes were starting to return to him. Haunily was already in the hut, a bowl of food in one hand, and an angry-looking dragon playfully nibbling on the other.
Haunily was about to sit down at a long wooden bench when she sighted him and started to wave to him like a mad man. Jaison shivered with slight embarrassment as all the people over on the many wooden benches all stopped eating and stared over towards him. He quickly made his way over to the table, pulling the collar of his shirt up slightly out of nervousness. Jasion sat down at the table across from Haunily.
“I heard you went to talk with farther, they say that despite you wearing the mask you still seem angry. Is it true” Haunily said, her eyes becoming so large and puppy dog-like it made Jasion physically cringe with the amount of cuteness he felt emanating from her.
“I…I understand I may have been a little rough on you and you're farther yesterday, it’s just I despise the idea of having to sacrifice someone when everyone could just work together to survive,” Jasion said, slightly annoyed at himself for being so mean the other day to the wolves. Haunily seemed to notice his sadness and gently cuddled into his side, making him blush.
“No, I’m not mad” Jasion lied, he assumed that she would be happy now and would let go of him, but instead she buried her head into his chest.
“Stop that, people are looking,” Jaison said as he took off his mask and quickly started to eat the food that Haunily had laid out for him.
Haunily ate her food quickly and happily knowing that Jasion was no longer mad at her. Jaison was near finishing when a loud bang sounded through the village making him pause. He jumped out of his seat and looked to where the sound came from, the direction of the hut he left the Angelics and the wolves to talk out the agreement in. Jasion left the dragon with Haunily and ran over to the main village hut. When he arrived, he saw a very pissed of looking Angelic girls and Renra angrily yelling obscenities at each other around the burnt down ruins of the hut.
“What the fuck are you doing,” He said as he approached them, his eyes turning red with rage. The Angelics and wolves all froze as he approached.
“These impolite wolves laughed at us when we said we were nobles,” Caperiol said crossing her arms. Jasion sighed, he was starting to miss the usually calm nature of the amazons.
“So, you blew up my house?!?” Renra yelled angrily. Some of his warriors only just being able to hold him back from attacking the girls who were hissing at him like stray cats. Jasion sighed and out of curiosity of the girl’s strength reached into his pocket and brought out the book that contained the rough strength of people. He wrote down the names of both Caperiol and Reveriol and read their rough strength.
Caperiol:
power 50 speed 90 intelligence 30 magic 100
Reveriol:
power 45 speed 100 intelligence 30 magic 100
He had to admit he was amazed that he was stronger than them and yet from the look of the destroyed hut they knew how to use their strength much better than him. He was impressed. He could only imagine though what he could do if he got strong enough to use the demon's magic and powers.
It took around an hour of angry yelling and the two Angelics acting like stuck-up children, but he managed to calm the situation. Jasion and the two girls decided to take a walk through the forest to try and talk out a plan that he could then relay to the wolves on their behalf it seemed that the two groups trying to come to common ground on their own was not going to happen. They walked through the thick forest quietly for a while until they reached a large open area of grassland. They walked out into the open and allowed the sunlight to pour across their faces.
“So, are we going to talk about the favour we are doing for you now?” Reveriol said, crossing her arms. Out of all the people in the village so far Jasion was the only person she could even begin to like/ tolerate the presence of.
“May I ask what you plan to do once you help us?” Jaison asked walking slightly faster before stopping and turning to face them. Reveriol and Caperiol turned to look at each other an uncertain look on their faces.
“Our army came here originally to fight an army of Amazonians, but we got ambushed by that giant first, it destroyed our army before we could even think, it killed our master,” Caperiol said glancing down to the ground, tears of anger staring to form in her eyes.
“We are discased, when we reach our homeland we will surely be killed,” Reveriol said, her eyes full of disappointment. Jasion thought back to what the demon of the mask had said about finding allies. He couldn’t help but grin slightly as he summoned his mask from the black mist and place it onto his face.
“So, you believe in honour then,” Jasion said. Reveriol nodded as she started to hug her crying friend. Jasion could tell that the fact they had lost the battle and their honor alongside it was affecting them and up until now they had hidden it well, it also could provide a reason to why they had been so defensive about Renra not believing they were royalty. Jasion took in a deep breath, he knew what he was about to say would probably sound stupid.
Jasion thought back to when he visited Ulana’s grave, he felt as if that was the last place, he ever had any honour as a medic.
“Once you finish training the wolves you will leave the village, right? And I will as well so I want to make a proposition.” Jaison said.
“Why would we listen to a human, we know little about your species, but we know you are probably lesser than us, so don’t dishonour us even more,” Reveriol said narrowing her eyes at him. Jaison laughed as he summoned two black swords into his hands, they weren’t the best and were badly balanced but still usable. He tossed the swords over to the two girls as he made a third sword for himself.
“I think you two and I are more alike than you may think,” Jasion said looking deeply into their eyes.
“Both of us have lost our honour in one way or another from our weakness,” Jasion said dripping the handle of his sword.
“Fine then, fight me, see how much of a lesser being I am,” He said aiming his sword towards them. He didn’t like fighting, but he knew if he was to start gaining allies to help him create his city that would have to change. If he liked it or not.
Reveriol picked up one of the swords, Caperiol finished her crying and did the same. Before Jasion could realise what was happening Caperiol was already at his throat with a sword, Reveriol’s sword was cutting through his leg. He turned himself into mist and allowed their swords to glide through him. Reveriol and Caperiol looked back in shock to see that he was standing behind them completely unharmed.
“If you win, we will acknowledge you as not being lesser, but if we win you will tell us all about you mysterious humans,” Caperiol said grinning.
“This seems it will be fun,” Reveriol said readying herself to attack him again.

Living in Paradise
The first thing I saw when I woke up was a group of people standing over me shouting "Happy Birthday!!!". Immediately after they start debating what type of world I came from and calling me 'William'. Later on I would learn that everyone here is reborn from another world and many children come with magic or superpowers or other gifts leftover from their old lives. I came from a world that was, to me, typical modernity. To them it was pretty boaring with the only thing interesting about my world being was a higher than average tech level for a non-spacefaring civilization; technology that wouldn't even work in this new world. All I brought with me was a peculiar mindset and the strong suspicion that there must be something more to life. Once everyone started to clear out my mother took me up in her arms, explained how the world works, and then stabbed me in the neck with a knife. I got better. -------------------- This story was written from the central idea of a simple question: What if a videogame like world, with all the normal video-game staples and tropes, was actually a real world? How would that work? How would people understand the universe around them? What sort of weirdness would the world appear to have from the point of view of someone who recognizes the odd nature of the place? And finally, if left to its own devices, how would this type of world ultimately develop?
8 106Makemake
"Makemake—a planet that is found in the far edges of the system known as Sol—was once a metropolis, like all of the other planets that populate the system. Now, like all of the others, it lies as a Sleeping City, forever dormant. No one lives there anymore—it has been vacant for years. In one of the massive cities that used to have a population that was in high numbers a sound could be heard. A distant sound. A beep, or a call, a message—whatever it was, it was an electronic noise. It echoed through the dust cloud filled landscape. The sound went on for a long time. It sat in a sea of quiet; no other noise rolled over the hills and bounced off the ground—only that noise. Only that beep."
