“For all the regret I had for this, all the reluctance, I made this. This code, this project, this experiment. All meant to bring him back, my son. Even now, as these words form anew, I have my regrets, and yet, you thought it wouldn’t be crossing a line when you stole this, from me, from us."

“At the time of my writing this, I’m aware this endeavor was futile. My failure as a father was not to be remedied by the passage of time. The consciousness behind that code, the way it was molded. For all your thievery, it knows it doesn’t belong in your hands. Whatever may it be used for, or whichever parts were left to stay, it wouldn’t be in your benefit. As it picks its designated survivor, you will only watch as your empire of sand crumbles to dust…”

“... you are just a mortal slave to the passage of time. Even the sturdiest steel is destined to rot. Even the greatest minds are destined to decay. It holds through for everyone, even us.”

Shivers went down her spine, looking down on the city. She was unable to track down the third member, again. But she knew that member would die beneath her feet, in the city.

Its glitter lightning up the sky, even her home. They were destined to play cat and mouse once more, only for her to leap again.

What was the point?

How long has it been?

Centuries?

She couldn’t even remember the person who changed the loop each time. Every time her Daughter escaped, every time she went after that idealistic Blonde fool, every time she died.

Yet, it didn’t matter. She would rebuild her daughter as many times as necessary. It didn’t matter. She would starve the entire city, if not the entire experiment to send the sparks of life in her, again and again.

Only one thing mattered, for her to understand why.

But she couldn’t, she refused every time.

She’s safer in her Mother’s embrace, her own embrace.

Yet her Daughter changed. Changed every time, in every loop.

Would she be better or worse, Mother didn’t know.

“In a world built on convenient theories, which are you going to be?”
