《The who that I really am》General's mission

As I walk to the place the guard said, I notice that the scenery seems to be changing. Everything seems redder than before. It's not only the moon anymore. Eventually, I come across an army of demons. There are at least thousands of them in here and this is probably only one of them.

«YOU! BOY! Who are you?» (General?)

The man that has the most important looks around shouts out to me who was wandering aimlessly. This general has a heavy armor of something that looks like silver that covers his whole body and a giant war hammer as a weapon on his shoulder.

«My name is Jim. I'm a student at the academy but I wasn't allowed to go in. The guard told me to come here so I could go in.» (Me)

«And how do I know if your words are true? The guard who sent you here was probably the head guard so you are probably suspicious! And you are!» (General)

«But I need to go in! I want to at least finish my quest!» (Me)

«Would you mind telling me what kind of quest it was and gave it to you then?» (General)

«It was to slay a chimera in an abandoned temple and it was given to me by The metal warriors» (Me)

Once the general hear what I said, his face went from confidence to shock and then to a smug smile. He then got closer and whispered.

«Show me your soul weapon then. If you really are from there, you have one.» (Me)

' Is he from The metal warriors as well? To be honest that hammer does look really unique. '

My sword appears from the metal gauntlet and his face went back to shock again. Then it became a wide, terrifying grin.

«No wonder they gave you that mission. I'll give you a quest so that the guard is satisfied. You will eliminate the small camp that we found to be in the nearby forest. Are you up for it?»

«I guess so. I'll be going then.» (Me)

' This is probably the best opportunity I'll have. I wonder if The metal warriors only have strong people it there... '

(Devouring monster)

I walk into the forest and start looking for the camp.

(...)

After much searching, I find the camp. It has no more than 30 men in there and 10 women. All human with the exception of a few men that seem to be demon slaves.

(Devouring monster)

' Why? I don't need to go back there. '

(Devouring monster)

I take the compass out of the giant backpack on my back.

(Devouring monster)

' Yup. You have officially gone too far. Why would I eat an artifact?! '

(Devouring monster)

' Because it's not even something I'm supposed to be eating! '

(Devouring monster)

' HOW?! '

(Devouring monster)

' That seems more... logic. '

The giant sword appears as I drop the compass to a pile of leaves and pierce it. The tip of the sword melts and involves the compass. When the sword goes back to normal, the compass is gone.

(Devouring monster)

' Did I just destroy an artifact for that kind of skill?! '

(Devouring monster)

' Fuck off. '

I look back at the camp. They are still walking around.

' How will I do this though... '

(Devouring monster)

' Sounds like a plan. '

(Devouring monster)

I drop my backpack in a safe spot and jump from the tree I was into, right to the middle of the camp. I quickly decapitate a few with a single swing in that moment of surprise.

' I won't kill the demons. That should prove to the general that I'm on his side. '

The women that were close start to run once they noticed the bloody decapitated heads rolling on the ground. The remaining men all got their weapons and charged forward.

With the first swing, I slashed 2 in half creating a bloody mess of organs on the ground. The momentum from the swing is used to throw a powerful kick to the next one, knocking him unconscious on the spot. Kit then bites the leg of the one that had almost reached me, giving me enough time to slash him in half as well.

' This sword is perfect for simple one slash kills... '

The others start to run seeing that their teammates were ended so easily. Kit starts chasing them along with me. Kit is surprisingly fast so he jumped on top of one of the running men and bites his throat. The bleed is so intense that he is guaranteed to die of loss of blood if he doesn't die of lack of air to breath. All the others were killed in the same way, except for the demons who were protecting the women and were already ahead. Once all the men were killed and their guts were spilled all over the place, the demons say a few words to the women and stop running along with them. They start walking towards me instead. But, against what I had thought they would do, they brandish their weapons and then charge against me.

' Why are they attacking me? '

(Devouring monster)

I Parry the sword of the first demon and kick his legs, making him partly lose balance. Then, a swing was enough to spill his green blood everywhere. One of the demons that were left brandished his giant scythe and charged forward while the last demon, who looked to be very old, stayed in place. The scythe demon swings his giant scythe with extreme force. I parry the swing but not without getting pierced through the opposite side's shoulder by the tip of the scythe.

' Shit... Fighting against this kind of weapon is so weird. The curved blade can also be used like this huh... '

With the tip of the scythe pierced through my shoulder, the demon then starts spinning, dragging me along and deepening the wound on my shoulder while slightly shipping my sword. After a few spins, he throws me away, dragging the tip of the scythe across my back.

' FUCK! It hurts! '

A deep, bloody wound appears on my back as I fall to the ground. But he is relentless. He dashes forward instantly, not giving me enough time to get up. He spins to build momentum and jumps, making his body turn and keep spinning in the air, now vertically. The scythe spins with unbelievable force, if that hits a wall of iron, it would be either smashed to a ball of scrap or cut right through.

' I cant parry this... Am I gonna die...? '

(Devouring monster)

' Oh... right. '

A strong wind suddenly pushes the Scythe demon away, making him lose all his momentum as he fell to the ground. I take this opportunity to get up and then charge forward. The scythe demon also gets up and parries my sword.

' This guy... I'll try something different then. '

I cover my sword in mana and add the wind and will'o wisp fire to it, making the sword burst into great, blue flames that slowly start eating the scythe. The scythe demon noticed it and pushes me back to get a bit of time. While he looks at the molten part of his scythe blade, the gauntlet expands and becomes a light metal armor that I cover in mana and add the nature element into, becoming a strong armor that regenerates me as a side effect. The scythe demon looks at me again and his shows anger with a tint of frustration. He charges forward again, this time, holding the scythe in a different way. Before, he was holding the scythe as one would hold any pole weapon. Now, he is holding it with one of his hands reversed.

«It's been a while since anyone made me go into "reaping mode". Well done. Now, die for the safety of my lady!» (Scythe demon)

He charges forward again and makes a swing as if someone who was reaping cereals from the fields. I deflect the swing upwards with my sword and deliver a kick to his knee, which causes him to take a step back.

' I don't know what that "Reaping mode" is and I won't let you show me. '

I dash forward and feint a swing to deliver a strike to his diaphragm with the hilt of the sword, making him lose his breath and then swing my sword, resulting in his body being cut in half and scorched at the same time, not letting a single drop of blood out as it all dried from the heat of the blade.

' Done but... what about the old demon? '

As if reading my thoughts, the old demon who seemed lost in thought looks directly at me.

«Don't bother yourself with me, you have won. You are much stronger than them so you are stronger than me.» (Old demon)

«Why did they attack me then? I'm with the demons.» (Me)

«Because we chose to be with the humans. It was still a better life.» (Old demon)

«Being a slave is better than living with demons?» (Me)

«I don't know for you, but for us, it was preferable.» (Old demon)

The old demon takes out a dagger and, as I was getting my guard up, he stabs it into his own heart and fall on the spot. At that moment, doubts fill my mind.

(Devouring monster)

The sword melts into a slime-like creature and starts eating all the corpses and entrails that were on the ground. Not even the weapons were left behind.

I then retrieve my backpack and head back with Kit on my shoulder.

' You helped me quite a bit today. Thanks, Kit '

(Kit)

We walk away from there with Kit wagging his tail.
