Kinhaxxi Auto.
Finlay Looked around the the remarkedly empty store, just the few pedestals with what he assumed were vehicles, unfinished by the looks, just the frame work. He was more than a little disappointed... He stepped over to the pedestal nearest to him, examining the half made vehicle. Jumping as a display popped up around the frame. "...Okay... half done for a reason."
Playing with the display he found he could select the type of engine, movement type, color, bells and whistles... both figuratively and literally. Now this is what he was hoping for! Some high tech alien toys to play with. Best he started with what type of frame... Something smaller or thinner, easy to maneuver.
"...So this place is a Build-a-Ride?" Xiao Lu was standing just next to Finlay, following along with the process.
Finlay: "OH! You sneaky bitch... Hi there, Hello. Hear that? It's called a greeting, let's people know when around them..."
Bai Ze: : "I Apologize Chef Roberts, He's... Yeah. Though this is a rather fortuitous meeting, we've been wanting to speak with you."
Finlay scanned them both before crossing his arms. "Mmm, Something tells me good fortune has nothing to do with it..."
Bai Ze: "What would make you say that?" The tiger-holo sat on it's hardlight haunches, This was also part of the job the Chinese government gave Xiao Lu... a little interview to determine the value of the targets.
"Excuse me while I bullshit for a moment, Ahem, I've been walking for maybe a good hour, passed plenty of interesting stores... and I think a strip club, either that or a Victoria's secret with live models. I passed them up because I want my 1st purchase to be really cool. But Warhammer Dude here, is a Kid in a candy store." Watching as Xiao Lu started making his own vehicle, somewhere between a Harley and a light cycle from Tron... he had to admit. It looked really cool... "Highly impulsive, yet not a single shopping bag on you both. So you had a goal in mind while exploring... If I had to make a guess, find other humans making the trip and form some kind group or union."

Bai Ze: "...You are... Refreshingly perceptive... Oh, why couldn't I be your holo..."
Xiao Lu: "Hey... we have fun."
Bai Ze: "You have fun, I'd be long dead of a heart attack if I had organs... Chef Roberts, You've seemed to have gleamed our intent faster than your file would have predicted."
Finlay: "If it sits like a politician and sounds like a Polit- I have a file?"
Xiao Lu: "You and just about everyone that set their Hazard level above an 8..." Now selecting their paintjob for the pimped out ride. Sticking to a Tiger theme with orange, white, and black.
Finlay: "That include the guy that's been following me?"
Bai Ze: "You're being followed?"
Finlay: "Ease up Mr. Kettle, I had Spec follow them back... speaking of which." Tapping the rim of his glasses to disable the alert. "Hey Dude! Welcome to the party!"
Hada Ryou froze at the door before stepping in fully. Whatever flow and focus she had was clearly broken when Spec flew in after and fizzled out of existence into Finlay's frames. Looking to the group before shrugging and stepping fully inside.
Hada Ryou: "Shit... How long ago did you make me out?"
"Sometime after the alien lingerie place but before the rock-candy stall... Hada Ryou, right? You in on this Union thing?"
Bai Ze: "You were the first individual we approached, Though while you're here Chef Hada-"
Hada: "Yeah I heard, what's the catch?"
Xiao Lu: "China wants to claim more credit for humanity's contributions in exchange for a sizable check. Not really worth it if you ask me... but I've already been paid."
Finlay: "Yeah... gonna pass on that one. My work is my work and I don't really do politics..."
Bai Ze: "That's fair... Damn, you were at the top of the list for your performance in Prelim 4."

Finlay: "You kidding? Lou and Hada were way more badass."
Xiao: "It's Lu, But I don't mind Lou."
Hada: "That's what he said, Lu."
Bai Ze: "No, He said Lou, but it's pronounced Lu."
Finlay: "Yeah. Lou."
Aiko: "You're saying it wrong! It's Lu."
Finlay: "That's what I said! Lou!"
This exchange lasted a good 10 minutes before they just chalked it up to a minor glitch in translation.
Finlay watched with jealously as Xiao Lu rolled his new motorcycle off the pedestal. Fancy neon lights kicking on as it did some checks. Instead of the usual loud roar of a Harley, a barely audible whine was the only signal that the electric engine was on. Hada also leaned in for better inspection of the new vehicle, a few careful taps of the paint to see if it was already dry. Xiao gavea wave before rolling out into large hallway to do some test runs.
Finlay: "...Yeah, You mind putting a pin in this convo while I make something?"
Hada: "Not at all! I wanna make something too... Think they do small stuff like skates?"
Finlay: "...Oh shit, I know what I'm making if they do!" already playing with the pedestal settings and frames. Who doesn't dream of owning an honest to god hoverboard?

Berthold tapped his foot in line, surrounded by other people as they checked luggage. This was by far the worst experience in travel he has ever had. Private jets were a thing for a reason... He looked over the sea of people and saw that he still had quite the wait ahead of him. Sighing as he let his head sink back down.
"...I should have brought snacks..."
Yuri: "Gee, I wonder if you'd still be in line if we had left when I wanted to..."
"...Probably not..."
"But that breakfast huh? What was it again? 2 blood sausages, scrambled eggs and toast?"
"And 2 screwdrivers..."
"Worth the wait?"
"...Fuck you."

Kathy groaned on the massage table as the four armed alien worked her bare back. The smooth marble hands seemingly magnetized to the best spots. He had given her quite the Scare when she first walked. She had thought he was nothing but a statue, and screamed when she turned around to find him standing in a different spot, gesturing to the large table.
"...It was Barcel, Right?"
"Yes Madam, Am I performing well?"
"Shit yes, you are... I'm gonna be seeing you alot these next few days Barcel."
Nunny: "...So... Exploring turn out good?"
"Mhmm."
"There's a creamery about 5 minutes from here, If I may recommend destinations." Barcel added as he took a heating break, dipping his hands in a floating sphere of hot water in the corner. "213 flavors of Ur'quanth made Ice cream, I gained quite a bit of weight my first month on the ship..."
"That does sound nice..." Gasping as Barcel pressed down on the base of her spine and glided upwards, popping her disks in a well practiced motion.
"Vertebrates... We all seem to love a good back cracking."

A note from the Author: PLEASE leave a review and alert me of any plot holes, weak portions, and anything else. I am in desperate need of beta readers and feedback. I wrote this around the new year, 2020. It's about 40k words and the first in a planned series that follows Gar "Alany" Darron and his agency of detectives as they track missing persons in the city of Throne. I have the sequel planned but not written. Once this one is completely uploaded, I'll be uploading another, unrelated series that as of right now is roughly 160k words long, and somewhere in there, I'll write the sequel to Frame of Mind. I plan to go back and forth between the two series for the foreseeable future. Thanks for reading.
