Chapter 1- Welcome to survival 101
÷ ----------- =+++##+'
The sense of falling continues for an extended amount of time; For how long, I can't say, but it feels like hours.
It continues until it just as suddenly just disappears, and I find myself laying down on the cold hard ground, looking up at the unusually orange, rising sun in the sky above me.
Looking around reveals grassy flatlands for just about as far as I can see. Over to the south, going by the sun and assuming it rises and falls like it did on earth, I can see what looks like woodlands; But otherwise it is flat grasslands as far as the eye can see, with the occasional tree here and there. The weather is temperate, but it is neither hot nor is it humid. The grass around me isn't particularly high either, making it easy to see into the distance.
"God-damned overgrown dog, at least give me warning that it will hurt like hell." I grumble under my breath as I survey my surroundings for anything of interest. Suddenly, the place that Cerberus touched starts burning like someone branded me with a branding rod, as a hot angry pain flares up for a few moments before quickly fading away.

- Initializing system… Please wait… -
I hear a noise, close to what a microwave oven sounds like when the timer ends, followed by a text window that pops up in front of my eyes. Moving my eyes, the text box follows them, stubbornly staying firmly in place in the center of my view.
"What the hell? What is this? A computer system?" I ask confusedly as I look at the text box questionably.
"Hello?" I ask hesitantly while I warily search my immediate surroundings carefully, the text box staying in the center, but somehow not impeding my ability to see beyond it. 'Ok, that sure is strange…' I note to myself as I take in the surrounding at the same time as I look at the text box.

A few moments pass without any more blue screens popping up, so I turn my focus unto the the blue screen that is still floating infront of me and ponder the origin of this strange system that has now suddenly appeared infront of my eyes efter that burning pain that came from where that duchebag, Cerberus touched me. "Uhh ok, So… this is my magic at work then?" I mumble aloud to myself as I examine the text window. "Kind of looks like what one of those RPG games menu lists may look like… For now, let's try status then." I say and focus on the Status option.

Clicking things apparently brings up information about a stat or skill, I learned while experimenting with the text box.
The skill 'Adaptability's information, for example, reads: “Adaptability - Makes all skills x100 easier to gain. Learning and adaptation speed is up by a factor of 10”.
It apparently makes it x100 easier to gain skills (lvl 1) as well as lets me learn and adapt 10x as fast as normal, which is incredibly useful, if I manage to stay alive long enough to be able to make use of it…
Quick strikes and precision strikes improve the quickness respectively precision of unarmed strikes, while impact suppression is as the name implies; it lets me divert and suppress impacts to my body.
The passive abilities seems to be as the name implies; Passive abilities that give boosts to related stats.
---
After a few minutes of going through the status screen, I close the status screen and come back to the main menu. Opening up the inventory screen, a pop up box appears.
*Ping!*
- Inventory -
You currently have 6x6 slots of inventory space, for a total of 36 slots.
1 slot may hold up to 99 items; as long as aforementioned items are sufficiently alike one another and that the storage may support the objects combined weight and size.
Inventory space increases proportionally as the magic power of the user increases.
*Attention! Time is suspended for stored items. Available storage is relative to the stored items weight and dimensions, the bigger and/or the heavier the object, the more storage is used to store said object.*
"Well that is a potentially super useful ability, if it is as good as I think it is…" I ponder aloud as I read through the explanation. "Alright, now to try the map then." I say and switch to the map interface.
Opening the map interface, it brings up a pretty standard game map in the top left corner of my vision; You know, the kind you could find on most games nowadays. It includes all the basics such as a general overview of the surroundings and a option for zoom said surrounding, a perspective indicator (which shows where you are looking) and of course the headings written at the edges of the globe formed map, showing where north, south, west and east are continually, even as I turn my head this way and that.

"Well, at least I won't get lost. ...Well, technically, I am already lost, since I don't know where to go, or where I am… But if I can manage to find something to track, then I will never again get lost." I mutter as I look at the more or less dark map. I notice that it has updated my surroundings, but only the things that I've seen. Anything behind trees or behind hills where I can't see, only show up as darkness on the map. "A slight problem, all things considered…" I mumble as I refocus my attention on the surroundings and try to decide which way I should go.
Anything that would imply civilization would be a good sign.
'… I sure hope that it is people who live on this planet; I really wouldn't like it if they were giant sentient spiders. Or giant sentient birds of prey… or giant sentient insects. Actually, I think we can conclude that I don't want any giant things at all, now that I'm thinking about it.’ Shuddering at the thought of potential giant beasts that may or may not want to prey on me, I shake my head vigorously as I try to make the images go away.
Slapping my face, I refocus on my first task: Finding a settlement.
Not having any particular clue as to which direction I should go in, I shrug and start south.
'People need something to build houses with, right? Then it would make sense to build it close to a forest, right?' I muse as I start walking towards the woods far off in the distance in the south.
---
After walking along for an hour or two, I get a prompt from the system.
[Passive skill:《Hiking》 acquired!]
“Huh… that will be useful“ I comment as I dismiss the screen and continue my trek up the small hill I am currently climbing.
------#[email protected]
An hour later, I spot a small river in the distance, which I promptly make my way towards. Arriving at the river I kneel on the beach bank and inspect the water.
It's crystal clear and seems fresh. Looking around the immediate area reveals no dead wildlife and while searching a few minutes upstream I find some shallows with fish swimming around.
The water seems safe enough to drink so I take a sip and taste the water. Hands down the best tasting water I've had. ‘Though that may have something to do with walking almost all day and it's been quite a while since I last drank anything…’ shaking my head slowly I cup my hands and drink the fresh water greedily. Once my thirst is sated, I promptly try to store some water in my inventory.
After a bit of trial and error, I manage to figure out the gist of the rules of the inventory.
I can store things up to a meter away from me; However, I quickly noticed that I couldn't store living beings in my storage, as nothing happened to the live fish I tried to store.
Hours later, after I managed to make a makeshift spear; And then managed to use said spear to spear a fish, I confirmed that dead fish work just fine. Yay!
That said, I try spearing some more fish, but it's quickly getting darker as the sun had started setting a while ago now. "Damn, I got too focused on the fish… I need to find shelter for the night!" I exclaim and quickly start searching for a suitable place to camp.
-------##/###$$$---
After an hour of frantic rushing around, and another hour of trying to light the campfire, I wearily slump down next to the campfire that I just managed to light, and read the prompt that I just received for said feat.
[Passive ability:《Campfire starter》 acquired!]
“I could've used that half an hour ago!“ I yell at the prompt angrily. Shaking my head, I sigh and promptly dismiss the prompt. "What am I doing, getting angry at a text box…" I mutter to myself quietly as I stare at the now quietly burning campfire.
After a while my stomach growls and I am reminded that I have a fish in my storage of which I promptly pull out, spear it on my makeshift spear and grill it over the open flames of the campfire.
After letting the fish grill over the open flame for half an hour or so, just to make completely sure that it is well grilled and, consequently, any potential nasty bacteria or strange organisms that may or may not inhabit this world is eliminated.
Grabbing the makeshift spear, I gingerly take a small bite out of the now, ahem, quite well grilled fish.
The fish tastes fine, not exactly the best fish I've ever eaten; Especially considering I have no seasoning to speak of, but it is not at all bad tasting or anything. It may even be quite delicious, when combined with the right spices.
When I am almost done with my food, I hear a deep low growl coming from behind me that makes me whip my head around to look at the source of the growl.
"Holy fu$#!"

8 209Shadows in the Dawn Mist
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] - Winner November 2020 When a young woman is lured back to her homeland for the opportunity of a life time, she must face old fears. But never would she think that facing up to her past would change everything. Is History written by the victors, or by someone or something else...? *** I started writing this a few years ago and eventually fell out of love with it. I never finished it and my newer books are being written in different writing style, and genre with a more planned process. I decided to revisit it for the writathon and found that it wasn't as hopeless as I'd come to think. Hopefully, I've improved as a writer since them so the consistency may vary. Its been good to revisit and analyse my writing which I feel used to have some clunky and obvious dialogue which I'm trying to fix. This will always be my first novel and I hope, with a little exposure, I may come to like it again. Thanks for reading!

8 184Thorns of Jade [A Progression Fantasy LitRPG Adventure]
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] Solo Leveling meets Chainsaw Man in this fun new LitRPG Series To become the king of Kissen, Noah Hearts trains to become the strongest swordsman in the world. The only problem — he can’t use Aura at all! Everything changes when he’s left for dead in a forest on the Kissen Fields… In a world where horrific creatures known as “demons” terrorize mankind, those who wield the mysterious force known as “aura” are the only ones who can fight them. These fighters call themselves the “Wolves of Haven”, and strive to create a world where demons no longer roam their lands! Though Noah Hearts is an exceptional swordfighter for a young man, his total inability to use aura means he could never hope to defeat the demons! Despite this major setback, he still hopes to become the king of Kissen and create a better world for those in his country! As he walks home from his daily training, his world is shifted upside down when he sees a few familiar faces in his home… This is the first draft of what I want to be a 9 volume series. I'll be editing, rewriting, and releasing the volumes on Amazon once they're finished. I'll admit, I'm finishing chapters in sprints because I want to participate in the writathon (Apr. 2022) so I apologize if there are some issues with the prose. Point them out to me and I'll fix them! Anyway, I have no backlog, but I plan on uploading chapters as I finish them. I don't want to spend weeks re-editing and never publishing like I used to, so I'm just gonna post when it's done. Like I said, this story is my take on a mix between solo leveling and chainsaw man. Specifically, the MC is the only one that can consciously level up (sort of), and the plot is fast paced and emotional just like chainsaw man. There are plenty of other inspirations, like HxH, Jojo, JJK, Cradle, and even FF6, but the first two are the biggest. Basically, if you don't like Shounen stuff, this probably isn't the story for you. Regardless, I hope you all like the story!
8 194Meeting myself
Canceled (This was my first attempt at a story and while I really enjoyed it, I lost track of the thread of the story. The MC was too op, and except for some fun slice of life moments it just wasn't a very good plot. Anyway, I may come back and re-write this in the future because I really enjoyed the premise, but for now don't expect updates.)I've never met Karma; or at least I think I haven't. Hope, really, because I'm pretty sure she hates me. You see, the thing is, I've always hated flying. When you don't wind up getting molested (cavity searched), then your bags get lost, or you spend the entire flight sitting next to a crying baby. This flight was even worse than any of those things. You see, this flight killed me. I won't spoil it, but lets just say, Karma owes me a few explanations. NO ONE, and I mean NO ONE, deserves to die like that. Of course, that wasn't the end of my adventure, far from it. But, you'll just have to read the story to learn about that.(This is a mature fiction, so far their hasn't been anything overtly bad (some minor sexual innuendo and drug use), but their will be plenty of blood, gore, sex, all that good stuff... eventually)
8 187GLADIUS // Eret X Reader
PHANTASM SERIES BOOK 4---Gladius, (noun): (in ancient Rome) a short sword.---Eret perked up as soon as you and Simon walked into the room, a wide and welcoming smile coming onto his face. He was softer looking than his father had been, but you could still see some of the similar traits. He had a head of thick dark curls, and the same sharp jaw that his father had had. He wasn't as bulky though - he was tall and thin - and his face was a lot more open. What separated him most from his father's likeness though was the colorful cape, and the large mirrored glasses he wore - swirling with colors reflected from the room. He stood from his seat when Maven let the doors swing shut behind her, that wide smile still on his face. "You must be the embassy.""And you must be King Eret." You said, stooping into a bow. "Oh, there's no need for that." Eret said as you rose from your bow. He stepped down from the dias where his throne sat - colorful cape trailing behind him - and came to stand in front of you, taking your hand instead. "I'm not really one for formalities." He grinned, shaking your hand. His palm was warm against yours, and you could feel some slight callouses - most likely from practicing his sword work.
