《Hunters Of Reality》Chapter 14: Oblivious

"You're thinking about Utsumi, right?" Tsujihara asked.
"Yeah.” I responded. He defeated the two of you in an instant. He's just sitting there, as if nothing happened."
"You really can't judge a book by its cover---That's something I realised the hard way."
She's taking her defeat positively. That's commendable. But deep down, she must be feeling humiliated, and overpowered, since her position as the strongest in the class has been threatened. What a first half it's been---mad.
The next 3 periods were Mathematics, Historical Events, and English Theory---all of which were normal subjects. The last 3 hours went by in a flash. My first day was... strange, I suppose.
Room #501 - Boys Dormitory, after classes.
It's been over a week---I haven't been able to contact dad even once. That lousy reason of a "college trip" won't work anymore. He'll start worrying. I think I should give him a call.
*Ringing... Ringing...*
CALL ENDED
He must be real busy right now, with me and Akane gone. It's strange that he hasn't tried calling me yet---was I really that bad of a son? Heh. Henry did mention that he'd take care of it for me, so I'm assuming he must have convinced my dad...? Ah, I don't really know. I'll try calling him again sometime later.
"So, enjoyed your first day?" Yosuke asked.
"I didn't get bored, so you can say that. But I'm worried about my upcoming BT classes, because I don't know crap."
"Say, I wanted to ask you... What power do you have? I mean, it's kind of a weird question to ask, but do you mind...?"
What now? Henry did tell me to not reveal my status as a rekishiya, but did he mention anything about revealing my powers? Wait a minute... I'm going to reveal it anyway during the practical sometime in the future, so am I safe here?

"Ummm---"
"It's okay. It's better if you show it to me during classes, rather than just telling me."
"O-Okay...?"
Saved. I'm just recalling what Henry mentioned regarding rekishiya---yurei with much stronger types of powers are classified as rekishiya. He would have found out about it if I had told him.
"At the very least, can I ask you one more thing?"
"Go on." I replied.
"You looked really shocked when you heard about reorbis---you really didn't know about it? It's actually, like, the first thing that we, as yurei, are told about. Didn't your mom or dad tell you about it?"
"Wait---your parents know about your powers?"
"Of course. They taught me how to fight---well, technically, my older brother did, but sometimes, also my parents did too. Didn't they teach you?"
"N-No, they didn't. And speaking of which, are all the students' parents aware of their children's powers?"
"I guess, yeah. Besides, you can't really get an admission here on your own---you need money, and consent from your parents, or guardian, after all."
Okay, this is news. Consent? Is this what Henry meant, when he said he'd "take care of it"? Then, my dad must be knowing about this...? Either that, or I'm being lied to.
"And in case you didn't know, most parents here are alumni of this academy. That's how they train their kids---they know about all the stuff regarding the admission, and the entrance test."
Why wasn't I told about any of this? Parents? Alumni? So that's how all the students found out about this place. I really thought they might have been the same case as I am. Then, I'm at a huge disadvantage here---my parents never trained me. Hell, they didn't know about my powers. And, I apparently don't know the "basics". I suppose I'll give the library a visit.

"That was very informative. Thank you."
"Hahaha... You sound like a military guy. Relax, man. And, you're welcome."
"Anyway, will the library be open at night? And, where will I find it?"
"Oh, it is open 24/7. Just keep walking left from the main building, and you'll find it." He replied.
"Thanks."
Outside the main building, 9:00 P.M.
Holy crap, is it cold. This place is like a hill station. How in the world did they construct this whole place without anyone knowing about it? Anyway, I'm supposed to go left, and according to my PDA, I'm about 120 metres away.
5 minutes of walking, and I can already see the library---it's a small building. Wow, that is neat. Let me---wait, there's someone entering... That looks like... Utsumi? Yeah, that's him---his slightly long, blonde hair is easily recognisable from afar. What is he doing here at this hour? Now that I think about it, this is perfect---I can find out more about him.

Throughout the Ages
A new virtual reality game has just been released, different to any that have come before it. Throughout the Ages sees the players guiding a small community from the the stone age onwards, acting as benevolent gods that inspire and bless their charges. The peoples of Lorinas are not mere abstractions, though, but complex AI with their own thoughts and motives, living in a rich and dangerous fantasy world! Follow the tale of John, the uninteresting author self-insert character, and his sexy AI handmaiden Jade, as they pursue success in a game where their decisions can mean life or death! This story is supposed to be a dungeon lord like story in a VR multiplayer setting, I hope people who read it enjoy it. Partially ghostwritten by the incredibly handsome and clever Sniggyfigbat, and edited by the occasionally competent Dosahder.(Warning: this synopsis might not be entirely objective) (Upload schedule is highly irregular due to having to match three different plannings) more tags might be added in the future. Also it is my first story so please point out spelling and grammar mistakes.

The Core And The Wardens of Eternity
What is the Core, they asked me... It's the light that pushes the darkness away, a bastion of justice, a safe keeper of life. It grooms love and tolerance, embraces science, fights ignorance, sentences it to die a slow and tragic death. The Core... it's something that can't be destroyed for destroying it is to terminate the time and space itself. When the stuck-in-a-dark-age world of Zanria goes offline, the Core sends one of its experienced agents to find out what is going on and to try to reestablish a mysteriously severed connection. However, all his training and experience might come way short as the world sinks in war and chaos with different races and clans fighting for the Star of Bardan, the ward rumored to possess enough supernatural power to create and destroy entire worlds. *** I just changed the name of the series, from 'the Nexus' to 'the Core'. Somehow it just sounds more right to me. This is the first story, and it has a medieval fantasy setting. But, eventually, this is going to turn into Isekai series with elements of LitRPG. So, my future books might include worlds with advanced technologies that might be more in SciFi, including Steampunk, genre. The first book might start slow, but after a few chapters, it should all be properly set up, and by then you should get the feel of how it will all flow. Also, I plan to introduce different story threats that should spread out and criss-cross in the future. Hopefully, I will not complicate it too much, and that it will all read good. I am planning to continue to add chapters to the main storyline here, but I'm also starting a new story threat in the Core series called The Recordings of Raan. There is also a side story The Memoires of Eisen that's exclusive on Patreon for those who would like to support me.

None of the other dragons let them in on the secret that we only hoard treasure in order to bait the fools. Or how it's a common belief that we eat humans for breakfast. Seriously! Not even a village would substitute as a snack. How do they think people taste anyway? Gross! But it doesn't matter if you hide away in your cave, doing nothing. Some hero is bound to find and attempt to slay you anyways. Or weird cultists offering sacrifices at your door. But there was this princess that asked me to kidnap her one time.
