Book 1: Prologue: Alternate Beginnings

In an alternate universe where superheroes are more than just the things found in comic books and movies there was a man who while only 12 years old dubbed himself the next great evil genius. After reading about great heroes such as Lex Luthor and the Joker, he realized that the only truth path to victory is through trickery and deceit. He knew that the real reason Superman was able to beat Lex or Batman the Joker over and over again is because they knew who they were dealing with in the first place!

No, Nick knew that in order to beat Superman he would have to be invisible and win through such trickery and deceit that Superman didn’t even know that he existed in the first place. By the time Superman knew he was in the game, the game would already be over. That is the true path to victory.

One might wonder how names like Lex Luthor or Superman would show up in an alternate universe and whether or not they are real supers or still comic book characters. The truth is, they are still comic book characters; it wasn’t until the late 60s and the moon landing where things went downhill for this universe. For what was found on the moon was a cube of power that left a message for the world…

CONGRATULATIONS FOR REACHING THE STARS.

COMMENCING NEXT LEVEL OF EVOLUTION FOR THE CURRENT SPECIES…

INITIAL STAGE OF EVOLUTION COMPLETE!

After this message was broadcasted to the entire world (on live television no less) 1 in every 1000 person or so started to change into what is later called a super since the powers they go were straight from the comics everyone knows and loves.

Though many powers were duplicated, some things were standard to everyone who got powers. The first major and standard change was the physical changes. Everyone who changed put supermodels to shame as they simply looked flawless. Also the older people who changed de-aged until about 24 and those under 24 would still age until about that time meaning supers not only looked good but didn’t age at all!

Other changes are the body types, there were two main types, those who had Superman like qualities and those who had Batman type qualities for lack of better terms these two became the standard. Basically those with Batman qualities were the weak/normal supers and those with Superman qualities which was about 1 in 10 supers got invulnerability and super strength up to about 10,000kg.

It was also noted that everyone regardless of their power (and there were many) had what was later identified as Aura and a supers Aura would range from 1.0 to 5.0 with 5.0 being the highest and strongest and it was noticed anyone with an Aura over 3.0 would naturally fly and lift extremely large objects like cruise ships regardless if they were Superman or Batman type since a supers real strength is based on their Aura and not their body type.

Unfortunately, Aura would not quantify all power types as some powers required the use of Aura and the amount of Aura would show how strong they were with that power, but others did not. The ones that did not where mainly categorized as mind powers and were things like telepathy and telekinesis and the like. These powers came with a brain enhancement as part of the super process and not much was known about these as one could not use a machine to test how strong they would be in this field like with Aura and those with these powers rarely let people test on them in order to keep their secrets.

Eventually the UN centralized the world powers into 7 major ones (one for each continent) and had their own branch of how supers would be treated with all of them being led by a council of supers and norms for fairness and mainly based on intelligence instead of power.

It must also be noted that stage 1 of evolution was just the beginning was it only took 19 years for the world to realize that children born from a super would become supers on their 18th birthday without fail regardless if only one parent or both are supers. It Is unknown how long it would take for the entire world to be just supers or if there would even be a population problem since there are many supervillains and wars going on to keep the numbers down as only the really super strong supers with both Superman body and Aura over 4.5 were truly immortal as the saying goes.

Of course when Nick was 12, he not only knew all of this information, but just about anything else a 12 year old would want to learn. As he was already smarter than everyone else he knew as well as evil as can be. After all, his greatest role model was Lex Luthor himself!

At 12 Nick lived with his older brother Johnny who was 14 and his mother Andrea who was very secretive. Nick always wondered two things in his life. First, why was he named after the greatest actor and one of the most famous supers of all time, and why has he not only never met his father, but neither his brother or his mother will talk about him! These factors made him start to hate people and society in general and distrust not only his mother but also his brother who had anger issues and already kept things to himself to the point of not talking to anyone. It wasn’t until he turned 18 and got mind powers did he realize what was going on.

At 18 he not only became a super, but he got the Superman gene as well as the all elusive mind powers. With a full array of powers such as telepathy and telekinesis he realized more than ever that if he wanted to be a real evil genius he had to hide his powers at all cost! He already stopped talking to his brother when he went off to University and hasn’t even talked to his mother since he was 15 for various reasons, one being the fact that she was never home and he went to a boarding Academy as soon as he got the chance.

Fortunately for Nick his brother and any others in his situation, children of supers don’t go through a visual change when they turn 18 as they were already supers from the beginning and just didn’t know it yet as they had no Aura until 18. So it wasn’t going to be difficult to hide his mind powers, it was the Aura that would be hard to find since other supers can sense it and of course the government has machines to sense it to ensure the safety of the public from unknown supervillains.

Though it wasn’t mandatory to get your Aura changed or even register has a super, it eventually became impossible to hide once you hit a certain age and still looked 24 when you got your driver’s license renewed at the DMV thus making the DMV one of the registration spots as it was quick and easy. Just get your Aura tested, state your power and bam it shows up on your driver’s license.

With this in mind Nick Cage set out a 10 year plan in order to hide for as long as possible. He first applied and got accepted to Harvard University on a full ride scholarship since he was so smart and set a plan for his latest driver’s license to expire at 28 so he could get away with it for at least 5 more years as he set out to become rich enough to live in such a way it wouldn’t matter that he has powers.

So a great plan and 5 years later he has a Masters in software engineering and has set out to use his powers to create the ultimate AI. Using his mind powers it was child’s play to create and even split it up into 7 distinct personalities that were all female and yet him at the same time. He then used the next 3 years to devise the ultimate plan and simultaneously sell it to all 7 governments at the same time for $1 Billion each making him extremely rich overnight.

At 28 he moved to a penthouse in NYC and renewed his driver’s license for the last time (or so he hoped) while cutting all ties with his old life and friends (lol like he had any of these). He is now 32 and eating at his favorite restaurant when our story starts.

Authors Corner:

This is a fun story I have planned and the first story I've ever posted online. I'm too lazy to edit my own work or find a PR so feel free to tell me everything that is wrong with this, don't hold anything back!

My grammar and spelling in general is very good so there shouldn't be many of those mistakes and though this prologue is just a long description/info dumb I plan to explain some of my style at least in chapter 1 so it will be easy to read.

Right now this story is being posted in web format (spaces between chapters, names next to dialogue etc...) but if it becomes popular enough I may re-edit it into book format (actual paragraphs and descriptive dialogue).

And Though each book has a length I wish to achieve, I do not have a set number of books set out for this story so it could go on for a long time so bare with me here!
