《So, Reincarnation Didn't Work Like I Thought》Chapter 31 Special

Teegrye's clothes were starting to wear out again. Her father didn't care much since she wasn't allowed to go outside, and keeping her properly clothed wasn't going to increase her dowry. She wasn't stupid though, but she did know from conversations she overheard tidbits on various topics. She did her best to extrapolate.
She had been taught how to sew by hand with a needle, how to keep a needle sharp and keep it from rusting. She knew how to clean a house and prepare food, and very little else was needed for a jumi girl. While wondering what marriage would be like, she snagged her outermost skirt on a thick sliver of wood coming from the back of a breaking chair, and it tore.
It took so long and so much thread to fix any clothes, she wondered if there was a faster way to do it. Maybe she could find a better material that wouldn't rip as easily at least. Her father was sick lately, but still went out to catch fish with the woven net. This morning, however, when pulling the net from the hangars on the wall, he slipped and the edge of the net came off. Not enough to ruin the net, only enough to have an arm's length left on the floor. Like a good girl, she picked it up to keep the area clean. It couldn't be properly fixed back onto the fishing net, and her dress had an obvious rip on her left hip, so why not just add the net piece onto her dress? The colors were close to the same now that they were old and stained with dust.
There were old clothes that her family didn't have new members to grow into, and the cloth would be valuable as pieces of patching to fix other clothes. She was taught how to do that, but it had to be the same kind of material, she had always been told. After a few years of periodic bad fishing, she made an attempt to fix up the dress she'd been in constant repair of with other materials. Fishing net scraps, old clothes of different materials, all sorts of things.

One day when cleaning a window frame, she saw a brightly colored piece of fabric fluttering in the breeze, and get caught on a bush. She wished so badly that she could go out, just this once, for a moment to pick it up. But she knew that wasn't allowed. She went on throughout the day, taking care of her duties. The next morning, she noticed the colored cloth sitting near her bedding. She wasted no time in adding it to her dress! There was no one to show off to, but it made her happy. She just made sure to add the scrap onto one of her inside dresses. She was wearing four of them all the time, so there was room.
Other little scraps appeared in her room over time. Some were colorful linen, some soft leather not yet made into armor, some were normal cloth. At one point, Teegrye even tried to put together new cloth from the frayed threads coming off of her other clothes on her family's loom, which luckily worked!
Her father was very angry at her the day he realized that materials kept appearing. She was accused for being a thief, but no one in the village had seen her go outside, or even remembered he had a daughter. No one reported any clothing or anything else missing, either. She was still punished, but it could have been worse. Her legs and hands would heal for the most part.
A couple years went by of her tending the house and the household clothing. Her mother had passed quite some time ago, and it was only her and her father. No one had wanted to buy her, and so she got married to her father.
Teegrye's dress was very pretty and a brightly colored patchwork of patterns and textures by then. She had even learned how to turn cobwebs into thread, and make cloth out of it. The new fishing net was much better- her husband hadn't complained about bad fishing since she made it.

But she wasn't able to make babies, and her husband became very angry at her. He had been angry with her since the first cloth showed up, which even she didn't know how that happened. One day, there was a knock on the door. She opened it, and there stood her husband- standing behind some soldiers.
...
Back at the castle, a flower pot got a new etching so her core could be fit into its artwork.

Tales of the Implock - A LitRPG Monster Evolution Story
Nyx - A demon, weak and small, too fleeting of a creature to survive the infernal wastes in which he was born - but after multiple brushes with death, the otherwise inconsequential demon experiences a destiny-changing encounter with an unknown and eccentric god, foreign to this world. Cast from the domains of old and conspiring gods to a land of which is sheltered from the divine, beyond the reach of whence they scheme, the impling who soon would come to be known far and wide as Nyx will find a new purpose. Born of Pride, with the fires of ambition fanned and burning deep within, Nyx will grow, learn, and evolve. From a weak and pathetic impling, to that of a mighty arch demon of untold demonic power, nothing would stand in the way of his ascent. Yet, the yearn of power might not be the only thing the power-manic demon will come to desire as he will encounter others who might just matter as much to him as the ecstasy of power does. [Info]This story features a wide breadth of characters with unconventional views, morals, and actions. There is no black and white - there is only grey. In a world where strength rules, notions of good and evil blur. The protagonist of this story is not a hero. He is not human. He is a megalomaniac demon trying to find his place in the world of which he has been discarded. This novel is my first crack at making something serious, a piece of work I can be proud of. It is a part of a bigger universe that I am creating, The Aethos, and I fully intend for this story to be professionally edited, then self-published on Amazon. The novel will continue on for a long adventure, as each arc will be made into a proper book. Therefore I heavily encourage feedback and interaction. Anything to improve my story and my writing is greatly appreciated. Thank you, and welcome to the Aethos. [Schedule] - Five chapters a week. [Discord] - Here

The Book of Hickory
Now why did Hickory go and punch that Angel? Sure it spooked him, popping up right there at lunch, and yet, it wasn't fear that balled his hand into a fist - Cause wouldn't you? Wouldn't anyone - with a sick Ma at home, Da long dead, buried, all them prayers piling up on bruised knees, unanswered? Hickory was angry, all right. He was fierce, now - cause that Angel didn't show up to give no help, that Angel came by asking for it - with all that power just plain to see, the power to fix the world and all that ails it! And now look what poor Hickory has to do - to save the world? Now how is he supposed to do that when its taking near everything he's got - just to keep them chickens safe, Ma fed, and himself out of trouble - All he wanted was maybe just a dance with May, maybe a bit more, to hold her close? That she's sweet, now, a voice like an angel, but now she's over there lookin at him like he's more than a man. And that's not to say Hickory is bad, not all the time, not ever on purpose - just there are things a man has to - That drinking and fighting ain't wrong just as long as the chores are done proper first, that those parts of life that make it worth living ain't no sin, that loving a lady is proper and Hickory just has so much love to give! And May is special, right, sweet and soft, now she's sophisticated. That she wears her passion like a pearl necklace? That certainly Hickory would notice, naturally - that she's already spoken for, perhaps taken? That ever since Hickory came back, that all she can think about is swallowing - those strange feelings, because it wouldn't do, would it? For a Lady? But certainly she can worship him and still be seen with Weston Covanger? Because Weston needs May, that what happens in the Study is only half the battle, the Men's Business, and he's far too proud to settle for half of anything. That if he wants to move up the ranks of his family, to be more than a Covanger, to become the Covanger? He's going to need a woman in the Kitchen as well - he's going to need May. And if that seems a bit old fashioned? A bit too much like the Wild West? Well the West is starting to get wild again now that everyone starts to Drink. A different take on LitRPG where answers aren't given - they must be earned, discovered and fought for, one at a time. An orator style, a long read, filled with magic buildings, crafting, alchemy, but most of all - This is a story about the human spirit. About understanding what defines a person, their morals, their beliefs, and also faith when everything they understand becomes challenged - changed. So do they. People can change. They will. Just not always for the better, not always - sometimes. Sometimes that's enough. Sometimes that's even everything.
